- Roll The Joists on a CMU / Concrete Block basement addition along with Rim Joist , Subfloor , Hangers and more. P3 I-Joist by EACOM at Menards
I-joists are prefabricated I-shaped structural members that are designed for residential and commercial floor and roof rafter applications. I-joists are comprised of solid sawn flanges and structural panel webs that provide strength and versatility. Their lightweight construction, ease of handling, strength, and ability to span longer distances result in lower overall labor and material costs compared to solid lumber.

Amazing! I'm smarter and more motivated now after that very detailed and instructive DIY. Well done!
Thanks
Outstanding presentation! Terrific camera work and narration. Thanks
Thanks
That’s was really a great video on how to install these. Thank you !
Oh my goodness I love these dam videos! Super knowledgeable. Very informative and such a beautifully edited step by step of the whole process from types of products, nails, materials, etc. Amazing! Absolutely flipping amazing! I tell yah'. I can't get enough.
Thank you very much appreciated
Nice job! Very good explanation!
WOW WOW !! one hell of a good tutorial, Saving this for when I start mine, THANK YOU so MUCH
Thanks for watching

Great video super informative great job
Great Help!
Thank you. I just subscribed
I can build a house now because if watching him
You are a genius, this video just answered every question I had about i-joists. If u have a channel in spanish I will subscribe to that too :)
OSHA Safety. Some of the joist cutting and nailing was a little.... You get an A+ for using a Girder truss though as I hate beams in house additions.
Nice 👍🏼
nice
Very surprised to find out about these I josts made of wood. In Europe everything is done with metal rods & concrete.
nice work. i'm curious about the joist stiffeners; it looks like you gapped them for the load to be on the bottom side of the joists (stiffeners to be flush on the load side, gapped on the non-load side)?
Woooooooa good
Hey CLS, great video! How did you finish out the end I-Joists that were installed flush with the block wall (if at all) ? They appeared to be largely open when the framing was being erected. Thanks!
Thanks, not sure of your exact question, but on the bottom side of I-Joists I installed insulation, plastic, drywall and crown molding trim.
It looks like you were using a 2.5"x9.5" I Joist. What was the span on your addition?
Amazing content
Great video. What type of primer sealer did you use on the OSB? Did you seal it so it wouldn’t get ruined if it got wet during the building process?
Just an exterior rated latex primer. Sealed it to protect it from snow storms until the roof was finished.
Great job, and enjoyed the video. Is there a reason you decided to include lag screws in your joist hangers? It’s beyond the manufacturer’s specs (which only call for the 10d nails), and you were meticulous about following documented specs elsewhere.
The structural lag bolts I used, were for extra support. The lags secured the hangers directly to the existing rim joist on house which is partially located behind the ledger board. The way the ledger board mounts to the existing home would be considered somewhat of a custom tie in, so the methods I used for extra support will not necessarily apply for other applications.
you forgot to mention the steps on ledger that is attached to bottom of the existing house/ where the hanger joist are place.............
Did not forget, this video is mainly about the I Joists with extra info on a few other things as well. . The ledger board is a different step and the way it mounts will vary greatly depending on the existing house structure. Eventually I will make a video just about mounting a ledger board. Ledger board must mount to existing studs in wall, rim joist or other solid locations in a structure.
Why did you use joists on the outside edges instead of rim board? Seems like I've seen both ways. Thanks.
I believe the only reason I did is because it was cheaper to just use the joists on the side edges, and because there was no hangers involved on the sides as well.
Stair framing video when?? :-D
Hola estoy en california alguien sabe compañías para hacer este tipo de trabajo , yo se hacer eso no conozco muchas compañías si me dan información les agradecería muchísimo amig@s
I must have missed a step? how did you attach the siding to the existing house? I saw you drilling really long screws into the hangers for the joists. My question is where do they bite into behind the siding? Directly into the old siding of the house? Thank you.
They secure into the rim joist on the existing home .
