Nature doesn't stick to one place, and these "islands" would just be relocated naturally. The problem is our cities have occupied all the other land so there is no where for animals to go. Climates change. And so do landscapes as tetonic plates continue to shift. It would cost a lot of money to fix something that is inevitable.
Why are they flooding? Is it because you decided to take most of the land for agriculture? Ah yup, it is! We can reduce land utilized by using hydroponics lol. Maybe we can also cohabitate plants by using robots to pick the plants gently but that’s for the far far future.
