This is just normal business. This really isn't starting fresh. You're using all your pre-existing contacts and now platforms. That's not starting restarting anything. It's like owning a car dealership where you say you're starting over by emptying out the cash register, but you get to keep all the cars on the lot.
I disagree here. You have connections from the second you step into business it’s about how you use them and seek them. With social media we’re more connected than ever and you can create connections with current sellers even; there are already things like phoenix resales app which allow you to sell in real time. Make friends with your local pawnshop now boom you got an instant buyer

Do you think if I went live with the same products they went live on, I would have had the same success? I would not, because I don't already have thousands of followers on it; it would truly be fresh for me.

What they are doing is like taking all the cars off the dealership lot except for 1 junker and trying to refill the lot. All business contacts and customers are still in tact. That's how business works though. If they started a new business completely they are not starting from zero ever again no matter the business. It's a lesson for anyone in small business. Use your contacts and relationships to build.
If you change the series title to "We turn $10 into $50k in 5 months" then everyone would stop complaining. I think it's great to see the lengths you will go to to get a sale and turn over the $$$. But it seems many people want the same series as you did before.

Im fine with Whatnot. But i would just like the guarentee that if people are regularly paying way above market value for the sake if being in a video, or boosting the project The excess profit is not counted towards the total. I mean times where 30+ % higher than pricecharting is paid.
They almost never show whatnot video, they just show the behind the scenes. So if someone was to overpay to be in a video would be dumb.
I think the $10 credability to 50k loses it value cause your using fame that already established to get the funds. Should had been Ebay with new account. Cause most people overpay on Chases whatnot.
@@LordsOfSkulls that is fair. I have looked at the whatnot a few times, curious about using that free 15 dollars credit they give. But every time I look to use that voucher, the items typically sell for greater than 10 dollars over price charting, then there's shipping as well. So even with the voucher it would be cheaper to just buy on eBay. If a high proportion of whatnot sales are like this it gives a massive advantage.

Your whatnot sales should not count you have a huge fan base already created that most people would not have. It gives you a huge advantage for any challenge you do. I’m a fan just pointing out that makes it easier and most of you fan base couldn’t have the same results because of it.

Yea they made it pretty clear from the start that they were going to be using there existing contacts and available infrastructure for this... I mean if you were really gonna complain about something it shoulda been the instant return on purchase from calling Luke and reselling on the spot in episode 1.....

I’m pretty sure they have a spread sheet for us to try the challenge as well…I think it’s pretty clear they both have a high goal AND are inviting everyone who wants to join, to join.

I get the premise of the “challenge” but it’s not really a challenge when you already have an established whatnot following. Kinda takes away from the viewers enjoyment of starting from the bottom
Good thing about challenging yourself is the bar changes as you improve your business. 50,000 profit in 5 months without large amounts of capital (investment etc) is challenging. If you are trying your best it really doesn’t matter what results you set your challenge to after all…

I know a lot of comments are saying it's not realistic compared to the avg reseller or even ones starting out but maybe that can be yet another future variation. I actually am curious to know what you guys, at your level of the business can do with connections and different avenues of selling. Starting from $10 is what makes it interesting to me.

People who try to sell their stuff in a garage sale for Ebay prices must not understand how much Ebay, PayPal, and shipping takes off the top.

Ahhhh, this content is my JAM! I'm a part time slow dime seller as I have the inventory space, the patience, and I have limited time to pack/ship. A fast nickel would take up too much of my time. BUT, I do want to optimize my STR so there are some good thoughts in this series to stimulate thinking on my own processes. Not EVERY item needs to be a slow dime. It was a bit jolting in the 1st ep to have a guy on speed dial to flip things to. But then I thought "Hey, maybe I should get some contacts I could make fast flips to on things I normally wouldn't want to deal with but that have profit in them." This series is not the same as last summer and that is A-OK!
That's the mindset I'll be adopting throughout this series. Good luck guys!

BTW, power of the ask in last weekend's yard sales netted me a Sega Dreamcast (With new in packaging VMU), a Sega Saturn, and a box of XBOX controllers for $100.

I do like your content, but as I stated before, I feel that your premise is great idea but first-time sellers wouldn't have the following on WhatNot or other selling platforms. I don't want you to think I'm a hater, just an older guy with lots of questions. Can't wait for #3 - stay safe.

@relaxationstation2237 In this instance, they stated that they were using their existing team, contacts and business to attempt the challenge. It's a personal challenge that anyone can take! Would I have his same result? No, but he at no point says that I could! If you want to watch what happens for when just anybody does it, go look at their last series where they already did it
Authentic? WhatNot is authentically a major part of how we do business! eBay is a great platform though - if you’re gonna give it a go, I think eBay is a great place to start!

The 10 dollar game challenge has been done a lot by a lot of different people all showing how ordinary people can start a video game business with just $10. We are here watching this series to see you all turn $10 into as much money as possible as quickly as possible. So no, "relate ability" should not be the primary concern.

After reading some of the comments, what I have to tell you is that I love your content, and I really enjoy this type of videos! Keep up with the awesome work!
So, I started a whatnot, and have had 8 shows, and have sold 3 NES games. I don't have a following, but everything I sell, has been from my personal collection and I clean and refurb everything I buy. However I don't think I can make sales like yall do. I've followed your whatnot as well, what's the secret? After fees, I'm losing money as well. About to just start selling pokemon.
These guys and a vast majority of the whatnot sellers that have a massive following have that massive following because of youtube, tictok etc etc followers coming over and bidding on their stuff. When you have 100k+ subs and advertise that you will be doing a whatnot auction you have 100k people instantly notified of the sale and since they mostly do video games, its likely that gives them 100k (obviously not but you get the point) That (can) show up to the whatnot auction and bid stuff up.... if you started whatnot without that prior massive following you probably had like what 20 people max at your shows? Big difference.
The only sellers that are successful on Whatnot are content creators that already have a following. Your best bet is to list on Ebay instead.

When we picked up the 2nd OG Xbox, I actually picked up a huge bin full of Hotwheel tracks for my son. Got it for $10. He went crazy when I brought it home!!

I'm seeing a lot of complaints about how it's not fair that they are using existing contacts to rebuild. It's 100% fair. It's how business works. Take it as a lesson that if you're a small business just starting out that you need to leverage your contacts, existing customers and build a network to turn $10 into $50k in half a year. It also goes to show how important cash flow is and selling fast for quick profit is monumental in growing at first. I'm digging this series a lot.

Everyone commenting about how they cheated by using whatnot and their friend to buy their stuff just need to stop. The goal here is to entertain us and that’s exactly what they’re doing! If they were going to do the challenge without those things we would all be bored.
