    Good video. Although I would recommend to not remove the front lens for this repair. It doesn't need to come off to fix the VFD. Putting the front face down risks breaking the needle stops and damaging the face. If after the repair someone wants to clean the dust out that's one thing. Also it's hurts my insides when I see people bend the row of header pins. With a good electronic solder pump it can be removed correctly and quickly.

      +jeffescortix I agree with you Jeff, as with a check to reasonably priced solder sucker, it only takes a minute to desolder a multi-pin device. You know as well as I, that know one want to create more problems than when it came in for repair.

    Hey Jack i was wondering if you could check something for me. I ended up buying a 906bt after watching your review on it. Anyway, yesterday I was monitoring some live data on a couple different cars and I wanted to use the "buzzer alarm" feature while setting thresholds. When the buzzer goes off I can barely hear it, I'd have to hold my ear next to the unit to even hear it (volume is turned up). I contacted Autel, but I was wondering if you could check yours to see if yours is very quiet too......I'm assuming it's a software issue. Thanks!

      Dan Jensen I've never used the buzzer before but I will check it out this morning and let you know how loud mine is.

      Dan Jensen I checked mine today. It's not very loud . it's not as loud as I would have expected it to be since it may be used under the hood with the engine running .

      Thanks Jack, I'm waiting to hear from Autel, hopefully there is a fix (mine is so quiet you can barely hear it) does Maxifix work for you? It hardly ever launches, or I'll see the home page for a second then it goes away and you just see the loading symbol

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 Před 4 lety

      +Fantasma Flores Without knowing which level of Escalade you have, are you asking about the "Drivers Information Center" warning or indicator that park lights are on? These models use a "Body Control Module" or BCM that receives the switch signal to turn on park lights. From there, it control a relay for turning on park lights, headlights or high beams. The message the IPC gets, comes from the BCM via class2 serial data on one GRY wire into the dash. If the parking lights work and all other messages and warnings are working (For the Dash Message Center) plus turns signals, high beam and all, the first place to start is with a Tech2 scan tool to check for fault codes, then if none exist, there maybe a number of special functions to push a button on the scan tool and work the IPC functions. Although, depending on the model, the drivers info center can produce 2 dozen or more messages that may not all work with just a scan tool. If the parks lights do not work, it could be as simple as the light switch.

    Use your man hands to remove the rear black panel, no screwdriver or needle-nose pliers necessary, just your fingertips. And as others have stated, the front lens does not need to come off. And never just bend back those header pins on that VFD daughterboard. That is most definitely the wrong way to do it! Just desolder the VFD daughterboard, its only 9 pins. And lastly , sorry to burst your bubble, but its not an LCD, Its a VFD, or vacuum fluorescent display. Not similar in any way.

    • @jackmeyers2911

      Did i not say in the video no need to remove the entire display and that i just did it for the sake of visibility while recording? And as i've stated in the comments idk many times now. I said lcd to make it relatable to the average person. I have never ever had a customer call me and say their vfd went blank. It's always "my lcd quit working" . Apparently not calling it a vfd makes the repair process incorrect .I have fixed hundreds of these and never damaged or broken one by bending it. Literally 10 minutes from teardown to reassembled and testing. I'm not going to change that any time soon. When i make these videos i think if the average diy person trying to do a repair and not someone like myself who has done many. Would it be better for a first time fixer to slightly bend it and repair one or two solder joints or have them destroy their board trying to desolder and remove the complete display. I just assume that most experts such as yourself wouldn't be watching and correcting a how to video made to help someone that wants to try and fix their car themselves.

    • @mike7958
      @mike7958 Před 5 lety

      Well you clearly have a reading comprehension problem, because if you read my comment properly, you'd see that I strongly advocate removing the VFD daughterboard. But then again, you probably can't comprehend what I am trying to tell you in the first place. And what the average person interprets the PRND321 display as is irrelevant.There is never an excuse to misrepresent the proper terminology as a professional. The fact that you're presenting yourself as a professional and posting a "how to repair" video assumes you know what you're talking about,.......and you clearly don't. LCD and VFD technologies are totally different. The fact that you can't tell the two technologies apart defines just how clueless you truly are.

      @@mike7958 I know the difference . I have a degree in electrical engeneering from 2004 that happened to land me in a good position in the automotive industry. I don't even know why i'm responding to you. .I've forgotten more information then you will have ever learned. You just a troll scrolling through youtube looking to point out mistakes that somehow make you feel relevant. Keep up the good work . You're pettyness is making the world a better place. Thank god for you. All those poor people wanting to know why their vfd isn't working would never know from my video because i said it was liquid crystal. I watch videos all the time because i'm always learning. Even as a "professional". Some are good and some are horribly bad but I have enough respect for people in general to not waste my time making myself look like an ass by pointing out flaws in what someone does to try and help others. .I'll leave that up to you. You should go upstairs and borrow your mom's camera and start making your own flawless videos with your extensive knowledge of vfds . I'll be one of your first 5 subscribers. I'd love to see what you can do unless of corse you don't have the man hands to do it.

      I also do these repairs have for years and this one just played after another I was watching so I watched it along with a few other of yours, did I really need to? No, but sometimes you pick up things from a different person even doing the same thing ( I do not make youtube videos) not sure why people who make similar videos feel the need to watch yours except for to critique and be jerks, Never once did I not realize you were just trying to make things relatable to the average Diy'er who probably doesn't have an " Electronic Solder Sucker" god forbid they'd know what a VFD was, not a day goes by that someone doesn't tell me their "Speedometer" is dim or blank.

      Khalid Hebshi i am aware of that and what i had said but seeing as to how i only had one shot at repairing it while recording and the fact that what the display is called is fairly irrelevant to the repair process i went ahead and uploaded the video anyways in hopes that it would still help someone fix theirs. Honestly . Most of my customers with 02 and earlier clusters call me and state the lcd stopped working. Never had one ask me to fix the vfd so it might be easier to find in a search for lcd repair. Thank you though for the correction. Ill make sure to correct the description in case someone searches vfd repair.
