honestly, with everyone updating their options (ford's new Mach-e tweaks, the VW ID.4 has been improved, and so on) I would say the only vehicles worse in the segment at this time are probably the i-pace (if they still make it) and the Subaru/Toyota twins.
If I had to pick one in this segment, I think the ioniq5 N would be the car to beat in the performance category. as for the "pedestrian version" I would want to see the new Mach-e (because the old one wasn't bad, and the new upgrades may help it quite a bit), but right now I think I have to say Ioniq5 again.
Streight line PERFORMANCE is Meaningless .
try Driving ALL car models on a TRACK on the Whole course.
Demons & Hellcats cant do FAST LAPS very well.
you should also Drive all cars through CANYONS as well.

Edmunds had to choose the slowest body style of the four Teslas sold at the time (S, E, X, & Y) to keep the races close. Fun video.
And it competed with ICE cars 2x to 5x the cost and won more often than not.
We can all agree that the next Tesla to replace the Model Y is the new Model 3 Perf

The revised Model Y Performance is going to be interesting going up against the Kia EV6 GT and Urus. I have the current Y but will order the 2025 Model Y Performance when it becomes available.
Did you ever test it in regular Sport Mode instead of Track Mode? Track Mode cools the battery and makes it significantly slower. If you precondition the battery by navigating to a Supercharger it will be significantly faster.
Track mode wasn’t available until after most of these tests were done. So it was done in sport mode
@@jerkyz most of the tests have been within the last year and they explicitly said they used Track Mode for each run.
@@LearningFast most of those tests were done over a year ago. They had the vehicle for 4 years as stated in the video. So some were in track mode but most were not.
As a Tesla fanboy, that Ev6 is impressive.

Durango hellcat with a tune on e85 and a pulley is a 10 second car! Easily upgradable.

KIA EV6 is track tested and Tesla is road tested. The EV6 actually has a real interior not just a screen. It has TWO. The cargo area is smaller though.

I'm actually really impressed with the Mach E GT. Even with the 5-second power cut off, it was still very competitive.
With the new revisions for 2024, it would put the GT slightly ahead half a car or so. With the difference in price in the used market, the GT is highly underrated!
Maybe next time when u guys roll race a turbo car put it in manual and hold rpm higher so the turbos are already in boost …cuz nobody races in drive mode 🙄

Yeah…you can get a faster Tesla, but nothing faster from KIA. I like supercharger network, dog mode, Tesla interface and app. KIA is just slightly faster, so unless you have a bruised ego then it doesn’t really matter all that much.
Try that with a model 3 performance. It will be a different story. For the Corvette as well. :)

Model y has better tech and a better minimalistic design.. people tend to forget simple clean ui is the thing for Tesla, no extra buttons and knobs and all that extra stuff it's all in the screen making it simpler and minimalistic

I get what you are trying to say, but the driver involvement is the same. Do you not have to use an accelerator, brake, and steering wheel?😂
And to say no real car guys give a shit about Tesla is also wrong, being that many are being raced now with a Tesla even winning 2nd at pikes peak in 2023 and the ioniq 5 winning this year.
Nobody talks about the bad! Unfortunately dealing with Tesla themselves is a nightmare, especially if you need a repair… Also like you said, the build quality is atrocious.. I know many guys who are EV fans that have parted ways with Tesla and have moved on to other EV alternatives.
Former ///M buyer here. Tesla has provided us instant torque, zero maintenance, and complete repeatability and reliability. We can all discuss design and panel gaps over beers but at the end of the day some of us just enjoy thrilling performance vs the constant BMW upkeep.
There are no other better ev alternatives. Teslas are the most reliable cars. Own one to know.
Tesla makes some of the worst designs ive ever seen. Why does every car have ugly bland headlights and tail lights that other brands have? A good car brand should have distinctive headlights that let u know what it is from a mile away. Why do all their cars look like blobs? Why does their interiors all look exactly the same? Idk. They seem to only be appealing to average joes that ignore all that and just want to finally have a quick cheap speed.
I feel like the new Model 3 kinda does a great job having distinctive designs

@@cooldude_nextdoor Cars front looks like some weird chinese fish design. Then it does the typical blog egg design all the way to the rear. The front is sleek then the rest of the car is a blob. Its like two different people made the car. It looks lopsided and weird from a side view. Still has no actual luxury interior and with a dull plain jane cockpit that doesn't even have a gauge cluster screen or a HUD. Thing looks like basic traffic.

Teslas typically look much better in person than in videos, not sure why but yeah… I didn’t like the look of the Model Y at first but that was because I was judging it purely based on how it looked on video. In person though, my opinion was completely flipped.
Porsche 992 Turbo S would smoke the Tesla.
all kinds of "lesser" cars would smoke Teslas on a track. All they have is short distance acceleration, and everything else about them is garbage.
and the tesla plaid would smoke the 992 turbo and it cost less than 80 K
