I'm glad I made the switch to Linux, but if you're running 10-year-old hardware on Windows, you'll still be running 10-year-old hardware on Linux. I made the switch because I became fed up with Microsoft's antics and greed, not because it would make my system faster.

I remember in the 90s and especially in tbe early 00s, television commercials advertised clean your PC and make your PC faster services. Good times.
After switching to Linux on that same computer and same hardware, my computer was faster. Simple tasks like boot up and running apps happend noticably quicker than it did on windows 10. That was my biggest switching point.

Best solution here is just make an unattended.xml file and your good and if U wanna take it a step further use Chris Titus PowerShell tool and use the basic debloat and that's it, that'll be the best it will run and have a nice clean interface free of garbage bloat.

I do not like running other peoples scripts. There is too many questions about security, (you should only run scripts you create because you dont know what else they may have put in.) but those scripts also tend to remove things that you may find out later you need. Now the best way to learn how about your computer is to try things and fix what you break. But this should be done on a virtual machine and not on your actual bare metal OS.

On the same hardware, I find Linux performs slightly better than Windows. Once you start loading Windows up it can start to crawl on even newer hardware once you get to it's limit. Doing the same tasks on Linux, you get that little bit more out of it because it's not bogged down with unnecessary processes and a little bit leaner.
I still have some older systems running old version of Windows. However, these aren't daily drivers, they're never connected to the internet or even my network. They're stand alone and have once specific task (arcade machines, jukeboxes etc). However if I could get that software working on Linux, I would have switched them over. That a "when I get around to it" job.

If you're experiencing sluggishness, it's probably because you got too much junk installed or a million tabs open, and of course ads and tracker that are constantly requesting access. There are better ways to deal with this issue. Run an ad / tracker blocker on the network level.

I am just going to say it, if no one wants to use modern versions of Windows but is afraid of using older versions such as Windows 7 because of security risks, just switch to Linux at this point. You indeed can always debloat Windows 10 and 11 though, but it is honestly still easier to use Linux or even Windows 7 as long as programs are up to date and working in my opinion since neither of those oses need much to any debloating at all.
Edit: If anyone here is still stubborn and still planning on using Windows 7 nowadays like me even after this video, I would suggest installing all updates and probably using Microsoft Security Essentials for an antivirus or any antivirus that works for you and is trustworthy. It is also worth mentioning that I recommend using Firefox 115 ESR until support ends otherwise you can just go straight to Supermium or perhaps Mypal. Even with that said though, I would still recommend dualbooting Linux in case there is a problem with using Windows 7.

In the beginning, I also didn't have any anti-virus software on my pc (more than 20 years ago). And I was infected but didn't notice anything until i noticed there was a .eml file in EVERY folder on my harddrive. I found that weird and installed an anti-virus and it appeared I had over 6000 virusses on my pc, all those .eml files were a virus related file. Since then, I never ran my pc without an anti-virus. My pc didn't perform any less with that anti-virus software running and with those 6000 virusses present on my system, there was literally nothing weird going on. No software crashing, no weird artifacts, all software kept working fine, no indication at all, except for those .eml files being everywhere, even on every partition and separate harddrive. But they can do alot of damage, like wiping files, limiting your internet bandwidth by consuming it with constant upstream of data to a hacker for example or spamming servers with DDOS attacks or emails, or even get rid of system files, crippling your entire pc, or scrambling your data (ransomware).

I don't use Windows at all outside the corporate world (and in there, Windows definitely has a very bad name. MS has a very bad name because in that environment, you're exposed to all of MS's crud and can't escape it. Some of it is IT department's fault, some of it is just that MS has terrible software.)
I chose Linux in 1995. While I'll defend that choice for me, I won't suggest that anyone else make their choice this way based on how I tell them it works well for me. I'm privileged to not need Windows-only software. I of all people should know how this goes, because I have a Mac for some of its Mac-only software I use. I use the thing that gets the work done. I'm just lucky enough to not need Windows to do the work.

@@Britec09 Defender wont stop certain keyloggers, just run a fresh VM with USB passthrough , delete when done
