I'm from. Liverpool and seeing an actor playing a scouser with the accent is very very difficult and Martin freeman has absolutely nailed it

What makes me chuckle is that his character is pretty much the same one as he played in the original series of The Office. He has this tic of responding to virtually anything anyone says to him by staring blankly for about 7 seconds (i.e. a long time) and then shaking his head, for about 7 seconds, and then exploding in a fit of expostulation and "Ah don't beleeeeev it Ah don't forkin' beleeeeev it." He is the (even more grim, and Scouser) Victor Meldrew of the 2020s.
I noticed the staring blankly pause thing too and chuckled.
I think he's good in this though.

The first series I was hooked
I had the pleasure of working on series 2 with Martin. I was only background, but, I got to chat with Martin after a scene we shared at Smithdown Lane police station. Shame it was edited out 😂

As a scouser when I watched the first season I couldn't get over how much Martin sounds scouse I've heard other actors do it and not come close but he's nailed it which is hard to do as most go over the top and it sounds bad but he's spot on good show to ✌️

@RosieHarp Season 1 is the one Adam is in. I see it's on AMC+ and Hulu. It was in BBC iPlayer at one time but I don't think it's still there.
Hang on, I have seen 'The Terror'. The one about the old ship, with Ciaran Hinds as the captain.
They get stuck in ice and get picked off one by one by a mystery 'thing'.
Brilliant series, and yes he was great in it.

Martin Freeman seemed to be in a bit of a slump a while back... but god damn he's killing it now. He was absolutely PERFECT in 'A Confession'.

I am up to Series Two, Episode Four. The main character (Hero !) is a Police Man who has a failed marriage and a young daughter. He is bent and associates with Drug Dealers, Thugs, Gangsters and Low Life Criminals. There appear to be no Decent People in the entire Series.
I am in two minds as to the quality of the stories, it can be gripping and also rather unbelievable.
I would hate to think this reflects real life, but............

And... just finished the series one out of random, and the second one comes out! Though the series 1 finale was that of a grand closing leaving with complete satisfaction, the whole series was that of a thing I've related so much and engrossed to flow.
Both series where boss. tha franny in the cap could of done without doin that over the top accent on the phone in the end episode tho

Freeman is just so awful, every part he plays is laughable ( apart from his comedic roles ).He is now England's answer to Nicholas Cage.
