- Its time to upgrade those out dated BRZ/ FRS/ 86 interiors boys. Today we upgraded the BRZ's head unit by replacing the old oem junk with a new iDoing Android head unit with Apple CarPlay which is huge!! Now we can play music, watch videos and much more on a huge beautiful screen. Not only that but we also installed a new Carbon Fiber Flat Bottom Steering Wheel! It look almost OEM+ and I couldn't have recommended anything better.
The BRZ is almost ready to hit the road, its getting wrapped right now and once everything for the motor rebuild is in we can being the motor assembly and get this car back on the road ASAP! That way we can put it side by side to the all new 2022 Subaru Brz and compare the two. Hope you guys enjoy the vid!

Another thing with an android head unit like this is that you can pair your air suspension with the infotainment and air up and down from your center screen 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Where did you find that steering wheel. It's straight fire 🔥
Interesting idea with the mic...however keep in mind that the original mic in there was designed to have noise cancellation from the roof vibrations and surrounding areas...this one wasnt. The other party is going to experience a ton of feedback especially when driving on the highway when you're trying to speak with them. This mic isnt designed to sit in there.
Best bet if you're handy with a soldering iron and some know-how is to convert the original mic to a 3.5mm jack on the end and run it into the new headunit.

My head unit trim piece is the alcantara one which is one huge piece, any suggestions on what I do for an aftermarket head unit?
i would look for the brz air bag cover trim piece on ebay and match it up with the headunit, that way you can run the headunit and you’d have 2 separate trim pieces

im sure you could, i havent tried it but i personally dont like the wire right in front of the shifter

the best one you can get is a pioneer head unit but they are not cheap

There’s wires because it’s connected to a radio antenna, bt, sat radio, car chip, numerous sensors and the fuse box

Soooo I actually did the same thing for my 15 FRS and installed myself a brand new Head unit! has all the features like yours! Although I gotta give you props for hiding the microphone if its okay Ima steal that idea and and try that to hide the mic. Cuz mines is just hanging on the left of the driver side where the airbag explodes lol

The headpiece is a bit too big for my taste, anything smaller that fits the dimensions of the rest of the frame?
i got burned a few years ago with an XTRONS android unit - the tuner stopped working after about 18mo. that and the fairly shit sound quality pushed me towards getting a name brand this time around, so i got one of the cheaper pioneer units (DMH-2660NEX) and i'm happy. the sound quality is MUCH better, even if it's more basic (i do miss having android actually running in the dash, but carplay/android auto isn't too bad)
I literally look at my stock one and just think it looks like a mini microwave
