The Navigation Way: Wolverhampton to Dudley Port 4 January 2024

  • Here is another walk along the canals in the West Midlands following the Navigation Way long distance footpath. This time it is an interesting 6 mile section of the Navigation Way between Wolverhampton and Dudley Port Canal Junction. There is an additional half mile between the canal junction and Dudley Port station which is not part of the Navigation Way. One highlight of this walk is the traverse of the 360 yard long Coseley Tunnel. The walk took place in good weather on Thursday 4 January 2024.

    WOW 27k subscribers! Those disks look like strapping end disks. If they are then they are used to help keep the integrity of a structure that has moved like a building or bridge by running a rod through the structure so often but not always you will see another disc on the other side of the building holding it all together. Very common on old brick buildings that had inadequate foundations.
