    Klokov proved to have a great business acumen and gave people what they wanted - huge lifts and a chance to meet a legend. He embraced the rising popularity of crossfit (almost a decade ago) instead of being negative about it, and was the entry door to "real" weightlifting for a lot of crossfitters back then. That'd be pretty sweet (but unlikely indeed) to see Lu go a similar seminars streak worldwide!

      You would do exactly the same thing if you were in the position earning easy money doing lifts and talks or motivational talks rather than working for someone. Why work for a year for annual salary if you can earn it in 2 seminars 🤷‍♂️🤑🤑🤑

    • @danielparpal2619
      @danielparpal2619 Před rokem

      @@PhiyackYuh I absolutely would indeed, no questions haha! And yeah you earn it in 2 seminars, but you're being paid for the 10+ years you sacrificed beforehand IMO.

      Lu made enough money with his brand. Idk what happened with his webstore, but he'd probably make even more money managing that business full time. They use his plates in the Chinese training halls.

    Klokov was amazing for the sport. Brought so much attention. When he came to Ireland I was in a lucky position to get to spend a lot of time with him and learned a massive amount. The first time he paused snatched 170kg in front of me on his "light day" 😂 was incredible. Never seen weight like that been moved. A proper show man in the sport. We need more

    I don't want Lu to use PED after his retirement tbh. He's probably made enough money with his 3 gold medals, that he can provide a comfortable life for his family. I just want to see him be happy with his family and finally take care of his health, rather than further abusing drugs.

    Training hall videos and seminars from Klokov are some of my fondest memories of watching weightlifting. We were spoiled with these gems because they really helped highlight how incredible weightlifting is. Other early videos from Ilya and places like Cal Strength are huge too! Klokovs huge lifts are probably the biggest inspiration for the type of training I ended up specialising in. I do mainly non contested lifts like push press, clean, snatch grip deads and trying to push these as my main lifts.

      The problem is that everyone tries to do it now. It’s over saturated. It’s not the same as a Russian weightlifter still practically in his prime doing all the stuff he did.
      Their system is where all modern weightlifting systems come from.

    Thank you for this good video!
    However, I find it extremely upsetting and disappointing that you cut the scene where Oleksiy Torokhtiy power jerked 255kg just before he's tearing his t-shirt!
    I understand that you wanted to do a 10 minutes video, however including that scene would have literally only taken two seconds more, so instead of a 10:57 duration it would be 10:59.
    There have been very few other men in history who've jerked 255kg or more, but Oleksiy is as far as I know the only one who tore his shirt right afterwards, which makes it even more so unique!

    What are your thoughts on the max age for competing? Do you think this is something a person can do his whole life as long as he makes allowances for the need for greater recovery with age, or do you think there is really a time when a person just can't keep doing the competitive lifts with maximal weights?
