So today I had a look at the Peugeot e-2008 Allure edition.
Have tested the GT model earlier which I think has to stiff seats(wrote in Derek's channel about the other day).
But the Allure edition had perfect seats for me and with the 3 hours I had it I got it to 14,4 kWh/100.
The seller told me that it was a good number. No idea to honest 😅
Loved the ride of that car.
Think it would be a good family car.
Peugeot has done wonders with their e-208 and e-2008.
Nice...I'd imagine the e-208 is particularly stiff, and doesn't represent the rest. I drove the Mokka e recently and was a lot softer also. Yeah, 14.4kWh/100km is good, that'd get you over the 300km range for that car? Thanks for the comment Terje!
Coming to this late but great video and good to see a range test that's a little different from the usual. I'm currently deciding between this and the id3. This looks like a lot more fun and we don't need the extra space. Occasional 220 km trip, mostly motorway, but as a veteran of the 24kwh Leaf I don't mind slowing a little if needed! Charging speed seems good too.
Thanks Bernard! Glad you enjoyed it! If you had a 24kWh LEAF then this'll be easy for you...decent charging, will handle 220km no problem. I haven't driven the iD.3 at length yet, but I'd be confident the e208 is more engaging and fun. Either way, they're both fine choices and you won't go wrong! Which one did you buy?
We were in the wicklow mountains end of aprill in our evoque ,great place to visit and we a averaged 45mpg with no worry about charging ,this will all change in sept when we pickup our E208 GT premium 🤞fingers crossed not the biggest mistake ever .

You can change your personal view in settings and the trip computer to give your percentage on trip 1 and km/kwh or kwh/100 km etc, took me ages to find these settings in my E2008

You have the distance travelled and the average consumption, and if those are correct you also know the total energy spent. 87 km at 150 Wh/km gives you about 13 kWh which is 29 percent of the usable 45 kWh. I don't see the need to rely on the range indicator when you can calculate that yourself.
Another way to do it is to calculate which average consumption you need to reach a certain range, and then you know how well you keep up with that figure.

Interesting Blakes comment about only driving at 100km and not suitable for doing long Motor Way journeys. Thats just not true. I did a Return Trip to Dingle the weekend in my Ioniq 28kwh bev and this Peugeot e 208 has a 45kwh usable Battery. Ive a post up about my Trip on the ieova facebook page if anyone wants to have a look at how i got on. My Return leg of 366km was done with 2 charges at Ballysimon rd Limerick 18mins and Junction 14 for 24 mins, so longer trips are easily doable in a car like the Peugeot e208 . So i challenge Blake to do the same Trip Dublin to Limerick and see how easy it is in an ev and driving at 110km as i was averaging in the Ioniq. Now not every small Electric Car Battery is as efficient as the Ioniq but i could easily do Dingle with 1 charge stop at my Coffee or Toilet break in this e208 with its large battery by my standards. The other thing is Ireland isnt that big and we dont have any really long motorway journeys. Its not like were doing Tesla Bjorn 1000km challenges here every week.
I stand corrected Stephen, and fully support your comment here! Had to watch the video back to see what you were talking about, and it looks like that one slipped through our editing. I run a 30kWh LEAF myself (80,000km over last 3.5 years) and would be happy to cross Ireland in it! Thanks for posting...would be easy to gloss over it but I'm glad you took the time! Great review. May I ask if you have had any experience of the MINI Electric please? I ask as other reviews of the e-208 suggest it isn't at its happiest on country roads and the lighter MINI (due to the small battery) is.
Hi Richard. Good question. I drove a Mini electric a month ago, but it was only for a half hour mostly in an urban environment. Surprisingly, the e-208 is only 100kg heavier at 1,540! I wouldn't agree that the e-208 is unhappy on twisty country roads, in fact I found it to be pretty good. But I've heard very good things about the Mini in that regard so maybe it is better. Good video. Just wondering if the car is a 2022 year registered one. Apparently in December 2021 updates to the transmission and the heat pump were introduced.

Great and refreshing review. Pity about the 100kph message on a 120kph motorway, that's exactly the sort of cliche myth EV haters spout. Nice car should suit many folks.
Thanks for the comment! Really appreciate the compliment about the review! You make a good point about the cliche but I don't feel that it takes away from the video. There's plenty of reviews out there where people hit the motorway/highway at a certain speed and run it down to 0%. But maybe the next one we do we'll get up to the speed limit for a change. Its just the old once true cliche about 'Leafs' having to be driven at 90kph or 100kph on motorways in winter has made many prospective converts apprehensive about going electric believing same applies today to 2nd and 3rd gen BEVs. There is a belief that if you drive a BEV at 120kph on a motorway the battery will empty faster than a duck going south in winter. This is not so anymore, yes consumption will be higher but not materially so with modern larger battery BEVs. Really enjoyed the style of that review, no-nonsense, no superfluous material in motion, well edited, and easy entraining style.
I love this...proper, considered discussion...thanks! I'm definitely going to consider how i frame talk of speeds travelled on these reviews. But even when I drove ICE years ago, I frequently drove at 100kmh to save fuel. Maybe it's a case of a more rounded discussion...presenting both aspects.
@@evplatform Yes I remember watching the needle actually move years ago when pushing a V8. The poor leaf still gets slagged for being driven at hearse speeds on motorways.
Any chance we could give up with miles references? Having to convert to the system that we use is annoying. Ireland went metric a long time ago and you’re a lot younger than me.
Thanks for the comment, Diarmaid, great to get some feedback! But we'll be sticking with using miles and kms unfortunately. Although we could do better in terms of trying to give both at the same time to make it easier for people. Derek and myself are indeed Irish, but we consider ourselves an international channel. Also, when we look at the data, Irish viewers make up a much smaller portion than we would have expected. Hopefully you won't be put off and we see you up here with another comment again for the next video!
If you press the end Of the windshield wiper stick, you will see the battery in %

Does that work on the corsa-e as well?
I bought e208 with 1.5 year old. Looks that is doing 20 to 25 kWh/100km, anyone else is seeing this? I am driving in the country have two hills, and i do 70km to work. Even on highway in hard to see anything close to 15kwh/100km. Any comments besides sell the car?
Something doesn't sound right there Hugo. Even at 120km motorwary speeds I wouldn't expect 25kWh/100km. I wonder has there been aftermarket changes such as different tyres? It's a great little car, so worth investigating the efficiency before getting rid of it. Thanks for the comment!

Did you use the Eco-mode because that makes a huge difference?
There is the gauge that tells you how much energy you have, percentage is not needed, like it is not needed on a phone.
I did try the Eco but I don't find it actually helps with consumption much (maybe fractionally). In hindsight, I think the extended use of adaptive cruise control was a considerable factor. My experience is that eco modes just limit things that I can choose to limit myself anyway (power output, heat levels, etc.). Happy to be proven wrong though! And personally I think the % reading is important...especially when you might be tight on energy to make it home or to the next charger, etc. Thanks for the comment though...great to get input from people and keep the conversation going!
@@evplatform I have a e-208 so I have experience. The eco-mode and cruise have a huge impact on range. You will still have full power when you floor it even in the Eco mode. You are right that in the winter you can’t have eco mode on constantly.

@@evplatform During winter, under +10C, fit the 4 plastic covers in front because even if they seem minor, they have an effect and it is not only for protection of snow and ice. Meaning consumption will be slightly positively affected, drag and heating. Where I live we can have -30C temperatures.

Did this video just prove this car can do 200miles on a single charge in real world conditions?
Yeah, but that's at the slightly optimistic end of the scale in fairness. I think you could nurse it to 250 if you were really careful in summer. Winter motorway driving could see it drop to 130 miles potentially. Thanks for the comment Jim!
