  • Carp Fishing | The Art Of Single Hook Bait Fishing | Matt Eaton
Team member, Matt Eaton is no stranger to catching big carp using single hook baits. We took the opportunity to sit down with Matt and asked him to shine a light on everything from the colour of favourite hook baits through to his most successful rigs when using this method.

I witnessed a 30 pounder caught on this very method on Orchid some years back. A killing method at the right time of year. Brilliant watch.

Great insight I am very tight with my bait so I regularly cast single hook baits out and catch this way I would say 90 percent of my fishing on like this.and I thought it was just me who fished this style 😂❤ great video Gardner Tackle ❤

Also a great tactic when barbel fishing on rivers with low stock. Good watch, hope you’re keeping well Matt.

That's interesting Steve. A lone piece of luncheon meat used to catch barbel so I suppose a single boilie in the river would be exactly the same.

Would love to hear Matt's thoughts on fishing singles in murky/coloured water. I have had good success on a (blue dyed) clay pit using small pva sticks and a bottom bait with no extra feed but cannot seem to get a bite on a bright (or dull) popup. Singles really appeal to me as a 'roving' style angler so it would be great to get some tips from the master. Thanks for the amazing content.

Love the content but please remember to speak into the mic, sound levels were uneven between speakers. Some sound deadening in the room might also help with the acoustics. Looking forward to the next one.

Although I've caught more in daylight it has worked during the night Arno. Fishing this way through the night means I've got the best chance at first light, when it is at its best. Good luck.

Great watch, my question would be, have you had much success using single darker coloured baits? The lake I fish has such an abundance of bird life that bright colours just become agg (other than at night). I've tried single darker baits on the lake in question but do lose confidence as a result and alas it hasn't worked for me yet.

      Hi
Although I prefer a bright one I've caught plenty on dull single hook baits. It might be worth adding a bit of extra smell to boost attraction. Rather than use a glug I mix up a little pot of all the neat attractors and just coat them. After a few days it'll soak in leaving them boosted.

I'm terrified of single hook bait fishing. Which is why I'm going to try it. I've never once had success with it.
I fish at rather big lake where the carp have no pressure at all. I feel like my success is completely determined by me having baited my areas over a long period. I want to go out. See where they are somewhere else. And get on them.
