  • José Mujica, nicknamed Pepe Mujica, was President of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. A former Tupamaros freedom fighter in the 60s and the 70s, he was detained, like a hostage by the dictatorship between 1973 and 1985. He advocates a philosophy of life focused on sobriety: learn to live with what is necessary and fairest.

    WOMAN, Yann Arthus-Bertrand's next movie
Following in the footsteps of his previous film, HUMAN, Yann Arthus-Bertrand is now dedicating his next full-length feature film, WOMAN, to women. This documentary featuring thousands of voices and unique life stories narrated by women, gives us an insight into their lives, and reveals the progress made towards emancipation but also demonstrates how much remains to be done. With this new film, Yann Arthus-Bertrand seeks to speak out against the injustices suffered by women across the world. But above all, in this world devised, built and dominated by men where the future is uncertain, the goal of WOMAN is to offer an alternative view. That of women.

Did other capitalist countries sabotage him? I am sorry that your country had to be kind of experiment, but That's very important for the future, at least one president broke the ice. I am certain that this slavery corporate system will be ended soon, like feudalism, or any other social period in history... or the mother nature will defend itself and blast us all.. But Mujica is fenomen, and we have to support that kind of leaders, so I am very interested, for I am living in Serbia...I have lived in 4 countries as my homeland was falling apart by bloody war, we overthrow one dictatorship just to foll in another, chaotic fascistic unscrupulous political terror in every sense, economical, human rights vise...corrupted media vise.. we are not in better position than you are.

    • @Turboman-kx7cc
      @Turboman-kx7cc Před 4 lety +1

SMUG well doesn’t wisdom come from knowledge though? 🤨 I get it also comes from experience and good judgment but all knowledge still applies to wisdom. But nevertheless the wisest men are those who can acknowledge that they don’t know everything, it’s impossible to know everything and not everything has been considered yet when it comes to new ideas by the ppl in charge.
Forgive me but I’m going to get off topic and add something in this comment, they know that we can have a better governmental system but they keep it like this bcuz it suits the ppl in charge of everything for now. I refuse to believe that they don’t have any other better system that we do now. I don’t know everything but we won’t be able to find better answers for how we can live better lives, if no one asks any questions and suggests any new ideas that can work better then the government we have now, nothing will ever change. It just seems like everyone is ignorant and doesn’t care wether there is a solution or not. So in this sense not everyone is wise but those who are wise care little, if they can or cannot make a difference in this world. Perhaps they know something that none of the average ppl are aware of. I’m trying to figure out what that might be but in the mean time I’m here in this world. Nothing is ever going to progress if ppl don’t care. 🤷🏻‍♂️ there isn’t a government out there that is perfect. Truth is the ppl will never have the power, it’s why there lives have always been ran by certain powerful figures in this world. All I can think of is that the ppl don’t want it bcuz the responsibility is too much to bare on their shoulders. Ppl who are wise can at least understand that the ppl will never have the power, only the mere illusion of it. In conclusion, no amount of wisdom can make a difference in this world. When everyone is oblivious to the situation they are in right now. Only thing wisdom can do for the ppl is just make them more aware of how there lives are being run by corrupt politicians that overstep in using their powers and keep the ppl stupid. They even tampered with school systems that’s kind of rigged to keep ppl poor. It can teach you a few things but only things that they allow you to learn. You can learn about other stuff on your spare time but not everyone ever does, only a few ppl. It’s true, school committee’s can also be corrupt. Why do you think ppl are dealing with sjw’s and crazy feminazis in public or internet. They weren’t taught properly and the gov’t is up to no good for the ppl at least.
Wisdom can only help with a few things in this world that we live in but having a wise president won’t make much of a difference. We simply just don’t know, at least not yet or perhaps never. Only time will tell. I just fear I won’t be around to witness it, if that day truly comes where the world is a better place for everyone.

Now he accepts he was wrong and he plays the democratic game as everyone. On the other hand, you just lie if you say he is rich because he has a "brand new Mitshubishi Lancer" (maybe you dont know that is a normal car in the rest of the world). He is not "poor", he is a middle class farmer; if you listen, he does not say to live without nothing; just to have what is usefull and not innecesary things. Finally, in respect of the meat, if you export as Uruguay does, the Uruguayan customer will pay international prices, because beef is expensive everywhere (if you do not like that, you have to do like Argentina, where is almost imposible to export meat, but the producers are not very happy when they recive just half of the international price). It is shameful your criticism for the only worldwide well known uruguayan that really deserve respect.

As an on and off student of the Spanish language, I can see how the language itself forms the expressions of the speaker. It is a more poetic language than English, thus the finer points cannot be appreciated. In this case, forgive me, I find Mujica's Spanish very, very difficult to understand due to his dialect, so I appreciate the "to the point" English translation. Nevertheless, his body language makes up for what the translation lacks.

Those are powerful words at 7:46. You can fall down, but you can always pick your self up and it will always be worth starting over from nothing every single time, whether its just once or a thousands of times, while one is still alive to live to see another day.
In other words, the only people that are destroyed, are the ones that stop fighting their daily battles. To stop fighting is to give up on your dreams. Fighting, dreaming, living on earth, and colliding with reality is what gives us existence.
One can't live life holding grudges , nor live stuck in a present routine . The pain and suffering one endures will never be healed by anyone else, nor it can be given back. One has to to learn to carry those scars daily, in a rucksack and look forward to the road that lies ahead for the future tomorrow.
If one dedicates oneself going after wounds, one does not move forward. For him he sees life as a road that lies ahead. Life will always come. What really matters is tomorrow.
Reminds of Drill Sergeant that once told me that there always tomorrow to start over fresh, no matter how bad the day went. :-)

Such traditional virtues dismissed in favour of consumerism but urgently needed if we are to avoid self-destruction and to thrive.

Mujica was no freedom fighter, much less his wife. They are criminals, he uses speech, like Hitler, to sway people to their side. Sure, he mayyyybe better now, but his party ruined the average Uruguayans life. I live here, I lived it for three years. The cost of living went up cause of him. He claims to have been an anti American, but he snitched to the CIA. In 2007, his friend, Tabare, same party and president, went to Bush asking for help in a really tense time, when Argentina was ready to invade Uruguay. Later he said he'd retire from politics. He became president again in 2015. Shittest president in years. The better ones were the Battles and the Colorados, who actually implemented true labor laws.

+19dec1981 WAKE THE FUCK UP, YOU FEEL GOOD FUCKING SHEEP, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THE FUCKING WORLD?!
Oh my god. The people here, blind to the fullest, you believe anything this man says hasn't been said, or that he lives by these thoughts?!
THIS MAN SAYS THAT THE MATERIAL GOODS AREN'T IMPORTANT, YET IN HIS 5 YEARS AS PRESIDENT HIS WORTH DUPLICATED!
This man robbed the money of the people from banks DURING DEMOCRACY, many of his ex-comrades are now living in LUXOURIOUS HOMES in the best neighbourhoods.
HIS REVOLUTIONARY FORCED KILLED POLICEMEN, WORKERS, PAYSANTS.
There is a fucking CZcams VIDEO of this fuckers WIFE admitting to kidnapping and MURDERING AN INNOCENT MAN.
This man worked with a revolutionary group that sought to bring Uruguay to its knees and turn it into a socialist cuba state, during DEMOCRACY times, and then REWROTE HISTORY, to make the military look bad WITH NON STOP PROPAGANDA.
IN TWO GOVERNMENT PERIODS OF THIS MAN'S PARTY, WE HAVE HAD MORE DEATHS DUE TO CRIMINALITY, DRUGS, AND MUCH ELSE, THAN IN 12 YEARS OF DICTATORSHIP (which were targetted deaths, against radical communists, murderers, agitators that worked to bring the country down)!
350 PEOPLE DIE IN URUGUAY EVERY YEAR DUE TO UNSECURITY GANGS AND WHAT NOT THANKS TO HIS PARTY.
WE'VE HIT THE HIGHEST DISSOCUPATION RATES EVER, 15% WITH THEM TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE 8% WITH THEIR NEW INTERPRETATIONS OF NUMBERS, STATING THAT IF YOU WORK 12 HOURS A WEEK AND MAKE MORE THAN 300 DOLLARS A MONTH YOU ARE FULLY EMPLOYED.
17% OF THE PEOPLE THAT WORKS, WORKS FOR THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT, YET THE STREETS ARE FUCKING BROKEN TO PIECES. THIS MAN BROUGHT 60 000 PUBLIC STATE WORKERS MORE, KEEP IN MIND, WE ARE ONLY 3 MILLION PEOPLE HERE, HE IS BUYING THE VOTES FOR FUCKS SAKE!
NO WONDER WHY THIS MAN SAYS THAT WORKING MEANS WASTING YOUR TIME, HE HAS NEVER WORKED AS ANYTHING, NOR STUDIED!
HE CLAIMED THAT EDUCATION WAS HIS MOST IMPORTANT PRIORITY, YET THEN HE CLAIMS HE IS PROUD HIS PEOPLE AREN'T AND AFTER THAT, HE DIDN'T FULLFILL HIS PROMISE OF 6% OF THE COUNTRY'S GDP TO EDUCATION.
HIS OWN FUCKING PARTY SAID THAT THE FUCKING STATE WAS A MOTHER FUCKING MESS BECAUSE OF HIM.
WAKE THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES.
