Thank you in advance!
My first introduction to playing the guitar was an hour a day lesson from Calatayud in Valdemosa in the summer of 1959. He was the most patient of teachers to a complete novice. I am very far from being musically gifted but still at the age of 88, 89 next week, have the fondest memory of those days. Well done to have his Bolero as the background piece, which I still play.
What a gift you are giving me and anybody who reads this video's comment by sharing your memory of el maestro Calatayud! Thank you so much for this!! Well done for carrying on playing classical guitar! You are an inspiration Sir! ✨️ I wish you an excellent week, full of music of course!
Bought a collection of his works over thirty years ago and they have formed a large port of my repertoire ever since. Superb easy to intermediate guitar music, love it!
To be honest I haven't played many of his work yet but I am certainly keen on exploring his compositions. He surely was a good pedagogue. Have a great weekend Anthony! May it be the occasion to play some Calatayud if you get the chance 😉
Thank you for this story😘
I love to play his music❤
Calatayud is much too unknown outside the guitarist bubble. Everybody knows Chopin, he also has a museum at Mallorca, but Calatayud unfortunately has none🤷🏼♀️
I know, it's a shama that Calatayud does not get as recognised as he should be. Hopefully by playing his repertoire, his legacy will endure the test of time :)
Thank you really excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it! Calatayud is one of my favourites I must admit. He seemed to be a really excellent teacher and pedagogue. Have a great rest of the week and an excellent weekend, full of music!
A lovely intro! I came away knowing enough to keep me hooked! Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy New Year to you!
Calatayud seemed to have been an amazing teacher. It'd be great to travel back in time to attend one of his lessons :)
Excellent Thank you !!!
You are most welcome Sean! Have a great rest of the week, full of music 🎶 🎵
Regino Sainz de la Maza would be an artist I would like to more about. And his brother Eduardo.
Thank you!
Regino Sainz de la Maza is on my list to do an episode on. Stay tuned and in the meantime have a great Sunday!
Excellent !
😊
Thank you! 😃 He seemed to have been such a great teacher and man! One of my favourite Spaniards! Have a great week Jesse!
