Durnstein, Austria - Breathtaking Views From Durnstein Castle

When we were staying in Vienna, we heard lots about the Wachau Valley… and the beautiful little town of Durnstein, Austria. It looks absolutely amazing in photos and videos. Yet, we had to witness it for ourselves.
The town of Durnstein has just over 900 inhabitants and is not only known for its historic character and grape growing… but also for the ruins of Durnstein Castle, where Richard the Lionheart, the King of England was once imprisoned.
Durnstein, Austria is located in the Wachau Valley… to the West of Vienna and can be easily done in a day trip.
If you want to see some of the most spectacular views of Durnstein and the surrounding Wachau Valley… then you have to hike up to the ruins of Durnstein Castle. You won’t be disappointed!
