Another great Canadian performer from the 80’s, Larry Gowan is an amazing artist. I’ve been a fan since the very beginning. Strange Animal started as an “ear worm” a few days ago. Now I can finally go to sleep … with Gowan reverberating in my brain … 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
I've had the same earworm as well this week. We're a strange animal. NB
@@woodchucker And proud of it … aren’t we? 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
@@Momcat_maggiefelinefan 😊Absolutely
Thank you Steven
We both came here because of the same man.
Same here
Same here fella’s
Same here
Yes Mr Crowder.. thank you
Love Strange Animal 🎶 especially when Gowan says “Ominous Spiritus.”
i would have said i do not like this song as a kid, but the wheel turns , and as surely as a canadian you will shovel forty feet of snow from your driveway each winter , so too does the nostalgia for my childhood and i find that the songs that were on radio all the time , have become the background music to my life story . So here i am enjoying a classic song i never liked , and find myself thinking this was pretty good . maybe im just nostalgia drunk , either way , i am enjoying it now. .... man i would have laughed so hard at myself now as a kid .
i also wasn't into this as a kid but now at 45 i like it!
Hope Gowan getting some royalties for that TD Super Bowl commercial sampling this song, anybody else catch that?
I gotta say, Gordys Home was my favorite 90s sitcom. This was a great theme song, still a bop!
If you never saw this video, you wouldn't know the guy is playing a Chapman Stick instead of the bass. Cool!!
Saw him play in the parking lot for free 1985 Ottawa !🤘
Just got home from seeing him at Rock the River Saskatoon! It was awesome. He kicked ass!🤘🏼🇨🇦
I saw Gowan and Spoons together in the 80s. Simpler times, when the biggest worry was getting nuked.
was everyone oddly siting down at the concert. ? that was weird.
This tune is the shit when you are stoned thanks for sharing 🤘🎤🎸🐺
Mostly loved about This Awesome tune was the Awesome Athleticism he used to perform.. Definitely NEED your music like An Animal!! Great upbost for my Gymnastic/Dance Niece's n Nephew♥️♥️♥️☺️
Peter Gabriel's backing band, Some great songwriting chops. Gowan joined Tony Levin and his band a few times to do versions of Gabriel songs
No wonder it sounds so much like an upbeat "Games without frontiers!"
I didn't know this. Makes sense though. I love Gowan and Gabriel. Cheers.
Louder with crowder 🎶
The nostalgia...***sighs..❤❤❤❤
This beautiful trainwreck. Crowder knew we needed this
I used to play this album at the House of Lords in St Catharines...all the time.
Seeing him tonight in Calgary!🎉
How was it?
im a big styx fan but not keen on the gowan years, but heard this on louder with crowder and was like oh its gowans solo stuff? i love it!
The bass sounds amazing.
Always does when the iconic Tony Levin plays on stuff-as he has been for many decades!
Gowan rocks! Perhaps the most underrated Canadian artist of all time.
He hasn't gotten anywhere near the recognition he deserves!
🥰🫶💫
He is from England
Sadly, they are nearly all underrated
Calm down
Most underrated song of all time
The intro of my favorite 90s sitcom, The last episode was a smash hit.
What sitcom
@@mattluszczak8095 The one from the movie Nope.
😂😂😂😂 I love it
Those were the real days not the f -up world we live in now
LMAO!!! You think the 80s were perfectly smooth sailing?
Lol no, it was the same as it is now, they just didn't have the Internet. You must have been a child in the 80s to remember it like you do. :)
The 80s were definitely better though - more fun. More happiness. More optimism, it was a very optimistic decade.
Very talented is understatement
💯💯💯
80's baby!
As long as you deliver it with confidence, you can call it rock n roll lol
😁
@@corysean533 who is narrating the video
Klaus Nomi showed us that 🙂
Was in University when this came out. Loved it.
I was 14 and loved it. The eighties and Canada produced some great music.
Crowder needs to get Gowan on his show.
A winsor lad Gowen was great
Played with Styx also😎👍🇨🇦
This totality fits for Crowder. Crazy how things work out.
I’m 48 and I just discovered this gem via a current movie. Such a good song!
I discovered it watching Louder With Crowder.
@@johnscottyward4588 thats where i found this lol, he made a cool intro with it
What movie?
@@annablueheaven1497 probably Nope
Wolfcop? >.>
This is 100% the pinnacle of Canadian music videos. Bravo!
For years I thought this guy was Australian! Hahahahaha
p.s. Canada = FLA and Skinny Puppy for me.
You haven’t seen Kim Mitchell’s “Go For a Soda”, I take it. Transcendent.
@@jmparker78love this song 🙌🏼

Catchy tune, cool video and yes Steven Crowder is what brought me originally to this video.😎👍
You should probably stop watching that brain rot
@@MasDouc
Nah... I like getting actual information and facts as well as have it delivered in a humorous way... But hey thanks for your concern 😎👍
@@MasDouc Steven Crowder is very informative, and he's hilarious.
@@samspade8830 he's trash who peddles disinformation to the lowest common denominator
Well this is now my morning routine song. 😊

love this sound.
Amazing song and video 😊
I did not realise there was a narrator on his biggest hits videos, awesome
I just realized how little of this song I actually know. I want to blame Steven Crowder and I do, but it's also on me because I never listened to this song in it's entirety. I am SO happy I did.
what did he say about this exactly
@@RedStrikerBeetleborg Nothing, but this song is his intro song.
@@cleverusername4821 well he is a strange animal and Canadian
And it's a banger @@cleverusername4821
our songs are 'solid gold' now 😂😂😂😂😮😮😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😅
I just listened to this again on a whim at work and forgot how fun and silly it was.
@@Joey_Lance oh it absolutely is, but it’s not exactly the most serious song out there. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
hell yeah
Who is here in 2024
As a teenager this was my song...
Voice over at the beginning dance animation definitely says "fuck yeah"
Crowder brought this out of the dust forgot this song.
I thought this song was from the 90's. It's actually much older. Ah! I knew it. My brother owes me a beer!

Big Daddy reference duly noted

His voice reminds me of Geddy Lee
Finally I found it from Steven Crowder.
Are Canadians that bad …Mr Crowder… 👻

Canada........
Was he classically trained?
Yes he studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Remember on 'The Empire Strikes Back' -
Gowan: Steven (Crowder) I Am Your Father.
Steven Crowder: No, No - That's Not True, That's Impossible!

The Iceberg brought me hear 🧊🧊🧊🧊
Always think steven crowder even though i remeber this song from a kid.
Lyrics
Well they say I should approach you
With caution
But not to let you be aware of my fear
Never know what you'll find (never know what you'll find)
Don't understand your kind 'round here
Watching your moves
They look so radical
Hearing your words
They sound fanatical
Something inside reveals you're magical
How can I get enough
You're a strange animal
That's what I know
But you're a strange animal
I've got to follow
They've been trying to stick a line
In your system
Analysing the defenses you hold
Trying to open wide (trying to open wide)
Hoping to step inside your soul
But everything here is unfamiliar
Nothing they've seen remotely similar
How can it be you're so peculiar
How can I get enough
You're a strange animal, that's what I know
But you're a strange animal, I've got to follow
I've got to follow
I've got to follow
Oh-oh-oh...
How can I get enough
You're a strange animal, that's what I know
But you're a strange animal, I've got to follow
Oh ominous spiritus
You're a strange animal, that's what I know
But you're strange animal, I've got to follow
You're a strange animal, that's what I know
But you're a strange animal, I've got to follow
Oh ominous spiritus
You're a strange animal, that's what I know
But you're a strange animal, I've got to follow

I and the Father are One John 10 30
in the 80s did they just say 'lets hit the instruments as softly as we can and avoid climax?'
Basically. It was the style back then. But it doesn't matter, because this song still slaps.
Yeh
I know you are but what am I? 😘
Louder with crowder!
Help! Why does he have to follow?
Funny comment, but in case you really want to know the meaning of the video and why he "must follow " ...It's Because his age,his people, his era is over.
The Doowop 50s made way for The 60s hippies who made way for the 70s folk singers The 80s made way for the 90s and new wave. Its a metaphor. ... after 2001 though there was never a new era or a new wave. Only contrived chaos by design . The only movements now are divisive and manufactured on high
@@melmee2235
Excellent and thought provoking reply. So true, it's as if everything changed for the worse after the 1990's had passed. I really like your reply 😎👍
@@DigbyOdel-et3xx thanks!
@@DigbyOdel-et3xx its really a symptom of the times,...it's like how our DNA breaks down with age , humanity as a whole has become so degraded and atomized, that like our cells in our body, we hardly feel connected to anything anymore. Some of this is naturally occurring of course but a lot of the degradation is directed by the powers that be (governments, political parties, media etc.). Art is a reflection of the soul, which is why the old soviet union had campaigns to destroy beautiful architecture to create ugly, meaningless even oppressive building facades, why? To suppress the spirit of those they wished to oppress ... without going too far into that , my point is this has been more of an intentional decline, using various types of manipulation than a natural progression.
Humanity/ society is fallen 😪 and Music is just a reflection of our collective souls.
Video killed the radio star ,
But only after the decision was made to make it so.
@@melmee2235 this thread is excellent
So, how many of you are buying that Peele didn't mean to liken Steven Crowder to a raging chimpanzee when he wrote the "Gordy's Home" bit of _Nope_?
Thank you for being a fan ❤
I just came here because I saw Nope 😂😅
How many know he became a member of Styx
The Styx rendition of criminal mind is better than his original solo work.
