@@elwarizapoi thought the same thing at first but in the last video, the sticky notes on his computer said how Pac-Man is boring as fuck which lines up with him making a video on it
Really like to see your taughts/taught process on this. Only thing I would change is add "DCB" (director code bullet ) instead of only "CB" on your shirt to know when you are talking as the director. Sometimes it's abit confusing if it's CB from the video or CB the director speaking.
Nice video! As others have said already, it would be helpful if you made it more clear when you are adding commentary. I also wouldn't mind seeing even more technical details - for example testing different programming techniques to see which is the best, or showing how your code analyses a screenshot.
this video was so sick I love it, surely you make this a thing for every main channel video. Also would be nice if it was a little more obvious when you switch from video to commentary :) lots of love from Brisbane 🇦🇺🇦🇺
100% approve the format, just want to say just making the video grayscale isn't enough to separate what's video and what's commentary, i had to go back a couple of times when they switched just to tell them apart. Maybe have something extra like a pause icon in the middle to better distinguish them (also makes it much easier to scrub for the commentary parts)
fun to see some extra bit and such. although doing it for every video would probably mean I'd be less likely to watch the video on the main channel, knowing that I'm pretty much getting all that content + more with this channel. Not that i'd mind of course, but probably something to be aware of
YOU CAN PLAY GUITAR HERO 3 ON PC EVAN! Also I'm pretty sure clone hero has a keyboard/controller option so you don't have to strum. And as a side note, the default controls are ASJKL because of 'Keyboard ghosting'. Unless you have a mechanical keyboard, if you try pressing 3 or more of ASDFG then it won't work.
as a developer myself, it is interesting to see behind the scene stuff, and what your thought process was behind your solutions, I would like to see more of that!
I really love this format and I think you should definitely do more of them. One thing I would say is that it is sometimes confusing when it is past you or current you talking. I noticed that sometimes you made the screen black and white when you were commentating, but for the times when that doesn't make sense, I think you could have a different pose/setting for your character (e.g. sitting in a director's chair).
18:46 "Let me know if you like this sort of format, it's pretty easy to do, and I might do it for every video I upload if you guys like it." You damn well better do it for every video. This shit is gold.
Yeah this kind of thing is exactly what I love to see! If you want to, I know I'd love to see this for pretty much every video you've got. Fantabuloustastic job
Amazing that we are getting to see more behind the scenes, next thing we know is that Code Bullet is I did a Thing. - They're both Australian - We haven't seen them in the same room - Their bodies look pretty similar - it'd explain Code Bullet's lack of content. I don't actually think this, this is just a bit of fun.
I think I may be the only Code Bullet subscriber that until this video, had no awareness of the existence of the main channel. Gonna binge main channel now cause I love this guys stuff.
Something I've seen other youtubers do in director's cuts is to have the original video playing in a corner or box or something. Sometimes they screen record Premiere Pro, for example. The reason for this is that its not always entirely clear which parts of the video are the original vs the commentary. I think it would be helpful.
I like this format. I'm a junior software engineer, so I find it super interesting to hear the challenges you're facing with your code and the solutions you came up with! Keep up the great work Evan!
I commented on the other video, which i deleted now (since you addressed the holding keyboard upside "like a guitar" on this one), the predecessor to Clone Hero, Frets on Fire (coded in python) used f1-f5, or 1-5 (I can't exactly remember), as the lanes/frets by default, which makes a lot more sense than the default Clone Hero key binds.
Yeah, I'd actually absolutely love to have this type of video done for every main channel video uploaded tbh.. It's actually really interesting to see the whole development process imo..
I actually enjoy watching the more technical stuff on this. It’s nice that it’s on this channel so the people that don’t want that don’t complain. I’d love to see you do this more on future projects and maybe go back to past videos and do this. I actually have your stuff on while I’m working and it actually helps so thank you
I was wondering how you accomplished the dual versions of the game running in sync, really glad you posted this. Would definitely like to see more like this in the future 👍
Love the editing, commentary and generally everything about how the videos are made. Kinda like embracing the stupid shit makes it better. Your sense of humour is always on point and a good reason why I keep coming back.
It’s cool to see behind the scenes and I’d love if you got into more of the technical details in these director’s cuts. You work on some fun projects and it’d be awesome to learn a bit more about the technical side (coding challenges, unity stuff, editing, whatnot)
This director's cut thing was interesting, and I'd be excited to see more for future uploads! I do kind of wish there was a bit more time spent on some other explanations (like was there a reason why this particular song was chosen, for example), but I suppose it really comes down to if you even have anything interesting to say for that section of the video. But yeah, it's exciting and kind of cool to see all the behind the scenes details and learn more about what things had been cut or edited for the sake of a cohesive final product.
Always good to hear your process. I'll echo another comment "Sometimes it's a bit confusing if it's CB from the video or CB the director speaking." A border or some text saying "Future CB:" or something would be ace.
I absolutely love this style of content, the cinematics are amazing, and the director's comedy makes this ten times better IMO.I would love long-form content as well. I know it's a big ask, and the engagement may not be worth the time expenditure it would take, but if you ever decide to make longer-form content or even less edited-down content, I would go absolutely ape shit for it.
I would very happily take one of these for every video you upload, as someone with programming background I love getting the extra depth for each project and totally understand leaving it out of the main video
Hi Mr Bullet, love the commentary, my only crit is finding some way to make VideoBullet mode and CommentaryBullet mode more obvious to the eyes and ears. There were times where the footage was geeyscaled to demonstrate a pause, other times it was just a jump cut with no obvious transition. Really that’s all, otherwise this was perfect to me
Love these extra videos, but next time please add like a pause button on the top right when you commentate so its clear when u speak or when the vid plays lol. You sound too much like yourself, its difficult to distinguish
Idk if someone commented this already, but the reason the default keys are ASJKL is for you to play in Controller mode. If you played GH on console with a regular controller before, you notice you don't have a button to strum, you just the hit color. That is what Controller mode does, you can play just like Guitar Flash on the keyboard, or a regular controller as well on Clone Hero. If you want to play with strumming, or Guitar Mode, holding your keyboard like a guitar, THEN you should rebind it to F1-F5 or anyway you like it
I really liked the video and concept, if you do it again I'd maybe have some sort of indicator that shows when you're in "director mode" and not just showing the original video
Really liked this format of video. It was a little hard to keep track of when you switched from Code Bullet explaining the video and Code Bullet in the OG video. But great overall. Would watch again/10 and already bought some merch
First off, I gotta say this was a great video, after that yellow note punched you I knew it was gonna be a banger. As for the commentary, I was expecting you to mention how the ingame bot was used for some of the songs in the ending montage. Not that it takes away from the video or "invalidates" the bot you made in any way, I understand why you'd wanna use the ingame bot, just was surprised it wasn't mentioned here.
I enjoyed the "Director's Commentary" cut format. Its fun to get a sneak peak at the process! Could tell the Guitar clicker video had a bit less "bulletness" than the premium, top tier shit, but it was still entertaining and fun to watch. I'd encourage you to experiment more with that style if it helps you feed the algorithm while working on longer projects like Rick and Morty. (Which I am HYPED for)
I think this is super cool! I think making it clear when you are commentating vs the video would be good. Also I would love it if you could explain the code a bit. But that I understand that is way more effort than needed (the Aussie way) and that most people dont really give a shit about the code lmao. Anyway. Love your vids. Keep it up
The dead open source guitar hero clone Frets of Fire mapped the lanes to function keys and strum to enter by default with the intention that you hold the keyboard like a guitar.
10:03, it's at this point I realise that the pixel suggestion I gave before would've been made better if the pixels are on those grey lines jutting upwards, just get the exact colour that line is supposed to be and compare the pixel to that colour, if it's not equal something is passing by and the trigger for the key should be triggered
next time would be nice to have a small text somewhere saying 'voice over' or something so i can make sure to know when the video is playing vs the directors cut, but i love the format!
i like this format of video, my sugetion would be some sort of a indicator when are you comentating on the video, some times was confusing to know when are you talkin or when are the video talking
It only took 10 days because the cocaine ran out on day 9. Though I will say I really enjoy your animations. For your character animations you can make the guitar move really well with the body by linking the bone of the pelvis to the guitar object so it copies the moves
who else was surprised by mr bullet to have an actual room that kinda resembles a studio?
