Terrifying: Shocking Illegal Activity Off Dona Paula Coast

  • On May 20, 2024, at 18:27 hours, following a complaint by Assistant Sub-Inspector Razak M. Madhabhavi of Harbour Coastal Security police station an offence was registered involving the illegal operation of a passenger vessel. The incident occurred on May 19, 2024, at around 18:30 hours off the coast of Dona Paula.
    Vasudev Calangutkar, resident of House number 470, Tita Wada, Nerul Bardez, Goa, and owner of the MV Nerul Paradise bearing registration number PNJ-951, allowed Abhishek, son of Balu Rathod, aged 20, residing near Zia Hotel, Candolim, and originally from Bijapur District, Karnataka, to operate the vessel without proper documentation or license from the competent authority.
    The accused boarded the vessel with tourist passengers and one crew member. Abhishek, operating the vessel negligently and without a license, ventured into the sea, endangering the lives of those on board. The vessel became stranded as Abhishek was unable to navigate it, prompting a rescue operation by the Indian Coast Guard.
    As per the sources The Harbour Coastal Security PS has registered an offence under Cr. No. 03/2024, citing sections 280 and 336 read with 34 of the IPC. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Pritesh D. Govekar of Harbour Coastal PS.
    Authorities urge all vessel operators to adhere strictly to licensing regulations to ensure passenger safety and avoid such dangerous incidents.
