I'm a professional trombonist & played symphonic to pop. In most arrangements for band like this, there's not much room for free expression unless the conductor encourages it. Besides most traditionally trained trombonist don't get this kind of experience & exposure, most having to pick it up from gigging if that's what they want much like us "old school" players.
Allan Zwierzko so true. don't even know if you will see this comment. but I have played so many bands, honor bands, jazz, concert, marching. And all instruments, and it really does depend on how you were taught and the conductor. Listening to this I would have played that trombone solo differently and not as straight. But that's my jazz kicking in. Same with sax that phrasing I would have done different if I could. Its crazy how much difference it makes

um so accidentally added this version to my yt playlist instead of the og version (what i wanted) and was sitting here just waiting for him to start singing and was like "i dont remember the music sounding like this" haha it took me 2 minutes to realize something was off lmao why am i so stupid
The trombone solo up front is played quite clean but... well, the emotion lacks extremely! :( i play trombone myself and seeing this heartless opening kind of bummed me out! But all your pop-arrangements are some of the best i have seen out there! is there a way to purchase them anywhere?
I wouldn't say it's heartless, but I would say it lacks a soul. I play trombone too, and it sounds like his nerves got the better of him in a few spots and that might have affected his confidence to add a little more life to it.
