    I'm a PR latino who grew up BEd Stuy/ Tompkins Projects/Bushwick ! I played area league bball, Tompkins,Marcy Sumner even the Globetrooters showed up 60's and 70's ! I grew up fighting skool of hard knocks. Now at 62 retired still have a bball jones! My cousin played semi-pro, who also grew up in Brooklyn. Street ball saved my life, gangbanging was always knocking! I hooped from the age of 5 to 62! Rocking the bball you Burn or Get burnt. I'm 5' 7" 140lbs. Now I teach MMA/BJJ still shoot around!

    Damn, I see a whole bunch of out of towners already talking shit about New York lol. Understand something, we not talking about NBA talent, we talking about regular dudes that are good at basketball. When NBA dudes go to Rucker or dyckman, these regular dudes be putting in work against them, show and prove. A lot of pioneers of certain play styles are from New York. Shamgod, pee wee Kirkland, earl manigoat, Kareem Abdul jabbar, streetball legends like rafer Alston. Basketball is a way of life here, to the point that we meet some of our closest friends thru the game. That's why New York is the Mecca of basketball, there's a court almost everywhere. Ball is truly life over here 💪🏾💪🏾🏀🏀

      this is all hype and propaganda...NY hasn't been a basketball mecca for decades...the true basketball mecca on planet earth is on the West Coast...in the last 30 years, Los Angeles and the greater L.A area has produced the most NBA players of any region on planet earth ...if anyone disagrees with me feel free to respond...but keep in mind, i got facts and data to back up my claims...

    I'm from California(The Bay Area), and I played my juco ball in NYC. I've lived in the Bronx and Harlem. I've gotta say that the energy,excitement, and passion that New Yorkers have towards basketball is not something that you see often here in Cali.The outdoor basketball tournaments are literally a spectacle. With the weather we have here, I wish we had that outdoor culture. Another thing I love about the vibe in New York is that your game speaks louder than your name. Even if you are a "nobody", you can still do work on the court and earn your cred. I don't know that producing more NBA players alone, is a accurate measure of talent or basketball culture overall. NBA players are more the outliers in this argument. Without doubt the NYC/NJ tri-state area is at least on par if not higher than the California per capita,overall with producing high level players(college,overseas pros etc). I love my state, but I gotta call a spade a spade when it comes to overall basketball culture.

      Impeccably stated, RN. I'm from Harlem. Brothers from all over the country are dynamite ball players - can't take shit away from brothers in any other state. Just that there's that extra touch of stardust when the game is played in the City.

    • @conni70
      @conni70 Před 5 lety

      ok, let's call a spade a spade....on this day, the 5th of Dec, 2018, Los Angeles native Russell Westbrook passes California native Jason Kidd for the most triple doubles in NBA history, while his Los Angeles native teammate, Paul George scores 47 points...meanwhile , L.A's native son DeMar DeRozen scores 32 points against his childhood team, and another L.A native and MVP front runner Kawhi Leonard scores 36 points to lead his team to victory...NYC gets way too much hype , when in fact Los Angeles and the greater Los Angeles area is the most talent rich basketball region on planet earth. the numbers prove it...and your " per capita" argument doesn't hold weight...NYC has a bigger black population than L.A, and most NBA players are black...so there you go..

    The truth is there are many meccas of basketball around the USA. NY has it's pride and love of the game but there are courts in Philly, Chicago, Indiana, Oakland, LA, etc... Basketball is an American game and there are great games all over the country. NY has it's basketball culture which is full of passion, fans, and players but other places have just as much make no mistake about it. It may be a different vibe than NY but they turning out players and pros no doubt.

      NC has a decent amount of good pros for a state without a huge population. Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, NC State are also good at recruiting top NC ball players and keeping em in state. Also Michael Jordan.

    Yeah yeah all that sounds good. It's a guy in VA sleeping in his moms basement with a 9 to 5 that will give anybody in the Rucker thirty as I type. People that don't travel think they are elite at everything. I'll drop 35 in the Rucker tonight and it'll take me only 13 hours to prove it. People doing the same things everywhere. NY u are not the pioneers u think u are. As far as evolving, yes. It's the more than the 5 places they say this or that is sold. Innovation is global. But u may have to be in NY or cali to get noticed and that's ashamed. But salute ny. Salute the world
