JDunlapMusic I remember one game my friends thought I was going to lose since my opponent kept hitting me and had me barely alive while he still had taken no damage... Little did they expect that I was just getting my guttersnipe's and other nuke-buffing cards in preparation to unleash a ton of lightning bolts and blightnings that would destroy him...
This is absolutely awesome to have Greg and Day9 together

This was a great episode. Greg was awesome! For a future show, you should try to get Mr Sark. Pretty sure he's a big Magic fan and he's hilarious.
I'm so glad this show it back! I do wish there was a show with this level of production quality & friendliness to new/relaxed players for Netrunner.
Great game! Nice and swingy with the life-totals. Greg Miller did great, even better considering it was his first time. Also, with that kind of comedic presence, here's hoping we see him again on this show or Tabletop or some such!

Wow, is that IGN's very own Greg Miller aka GameOverGreggy? That guy is amazing, I'm super impressed with how Geek & Sundry are able to get high profile guests such as him on one their shows.
Gregg forgot to attack with his soldier tokens, if he had I think he would have been able to win. I assume you kept that back either because he forgot about them due to being new or he was keeping them back as blockers which wouldn't work anyway as all of sean's creatures had flying.
What I was thinking...he blocks with his flyers but they die...he keeps getting a solider every round. WHY didn't you attack with them???
he only had 4 soldiers the round he got knocked out.. adding damage 1 2 3 is only 6 damage.. then factor in day9 blocking with lifelink every round its actually negative ground..
Yeah, I think it was mostly the lifelink. You don't want to give people with lifelink easy blocks.
Newbie question, if Sean blocks a 1/1 with his 3/4 lifelink, will he gain 3 life or 1 life back?
3, because the 1/1 will be a 1/-2.

When Greg went back up to 20 life at 13:35, wouldn't that qualify as gaining 8 life, meaning both his Ajani's Pridemates got +8/+8?
no, the card says 'whenever you gain life', not 'for each life you gain'. you gain the 8 life at once, not 1 life 8 times.
to clarify: pridemates get +1/+1 each TIME you gain life and not how much life you get even if that was the case though the effect of the angel doesnt say "gain" , x, "life" but make your life 20 so not even a single counter goes on the tiger boy , hope i helped
sparta1821 That's wrong. If resolute archangel makes you go up in life, that counts as "gain life". it can bot be prevented by cards like skullcrack, and it benefits cards like ajani's pridemate.

so yes, resolute archangel makes you gain life, or lose life depending

Oh man i had been missing this show so much. Whether its the decktacular or spellslingers, day9 makes me want to watch him do card games all day long. Great guest too. He was very entertaining.
Also, did I miss something, or did they forget to put +1/+1 counters on the Pridemates when the Resolute Archangel came in?
I thought so too, but the card is actually "Gain +1/+1 when you gain life" not "for each point of life gained". He had two soulmenders healing separately, that's why they got +2/+2 each turn.
The Pridemates did gain +1+1 for Archangel.

I knew they were only supposed to get one counter each, but I didn't notice the new counters when the angel came in. Must've missed it. As long as they did get them, then all is well :)
The archangel says your life total becomes your starting life total. You never actually gain life. So you shouldn't get counters.
droidtaken Thought Resolute Archangel is too new to have rulings, it's identical to Eternity Vessel's rulings:
"For your life total to become the number of charge counters on Eternity Vessel, you actually gain or lose the necessary amount of life. For example, if your life total is 4 when Eternity Vessel's landfall ability resolves and Eternity Vessel has 12 charge counters on it, the ability will cause you to gain 8 life. Other cards that interact with life gain or life loss will interact with this effect accordingly."
This would work the same way, gaining or losing life to reach 20.
They put the counter, but didn't emphasize on it. Notice that the pridemates had an even number of counters on them (due to double uncles) and then had odd numbers of counters on them after the Archangel entered the battlefield.
So unbelievably happy this is back! Can't wait for S02E02!

I missed this so much! Greggy did a pretty great job, and it is super fun with them being less familiar with the deck!
Perhaps I'm missing something, but is there any reason why he was gathering all of those soldiers and not using them? Worse case scenario, he loses a free card. Best case, Sean decides not to do something about it and takes a little peck of damage.
I was plotting. Something. What it was, I still don't know.
Simple, if he attacked with them Sean would block with his 3/4 lifelink flyer and would actually end up gaining more life than he would lose. So Greg made the right call there. His real and only downfall was getting flooded with Swamps, which was just bad luck.
***** You were fine Greg. The board state wasn't in a position to warrant attacking with the soldiers as the vigilance and lifelink of the Pegasus would have negated the damage from the tokens.
I had to watch a second time to figure it out myself since I wasn't on the felt.
If Sean blocks with the flying horse with lifelink, he would gain life and get to kill that soldier for free.
Maarten van der Steen No if he blocked one of the soliders with the 3/4 lifelinkers then the 11/11 goes unblocked and so does the other 3 soldiers. Or if he blocked the other 3 soilders with his fliers he doesn't have fliers any more and Greg gets another solider next round. he should have used them every round. He couldn't block with them soo they were sitting there useless.
M15 tomorrow can't wait, glad the show is back with an awesome first guest :)

He tell's Greg that he should of blocked the familiar with pegasus and pegasus would not die and he would gain more life. What does Greg do? Next turn attacks with familiar. Not that it really mattered though. Great episode, GameOverGreggy show sent me here.

I love how nobody notices that the Pridemates actually got pumped by the archangel. The turn before, Sean took 6 damage from one of the pridemates, and the next turn when he attacked with it again it was a 7/7 before the Clerics abilities were activated.
That was a fantastic game. Amazing job Sean for teaching and making the game fun. Love what you do. Don't stop playing games
Greg, good first game. Everyone has to start somewhere. Sean, awesome seeing the new cards only a week after pre-release weekend. Nice tie-in considering when you shot the episode. I saw that LSV was on this season; I'd love to see some more involved games (maybe with some more pro/am tour players) but I understand keeping them short for the noobs. Oh, and don't forget to explain stack resolution and how it differs from LIFO. That'll be some riveting stuff. See you next week!
