One second = One Hour PART 2 - The Slow Mo Guys - Zábava
Coincidentally I experienced a similar effect when I was younger by taking Psychology as one of my GCSEs. HEEYYYOOOOOO
Hey guys, I have an idea for you! I assume you remember the taekwondo video, right? What if you made a video on fencers, I feel like it would be really cool.
Some of that effects could look even nicer in HDR. I wonder if there are such nice slow motion cameras which support it. :3

Gun firing
"Origins of Modern Art"
Boring.
And harder than calculus.
I quit early enough to get a W(ithdrawal) on my record, instead of an F .
Its crazy to see how some things like the popcorn are still fast, even at this absurd speed
it's crazy, especially if you compare shots. The splinters and axe didn't move at all, while the corn and oil had so much movement in them.
Hummingbirds be zooming
I like how, to us, a bubble pops instantly yet it seems so slow here
it made me realise how fast bullets are! it just flew past the screen
@INSANE GAMER- VAIBHAV I'm sorry, what?
You are so incredibly incorrect, it's beyond words.
The shot of the card being split by the bullet is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on film. The skill of both Gavin behind the camera, as well as presumably Dan firing the pistol, is just top tier.
Ikr? The accuracy is insane.
Growing up I remember a photograph from the 70's of the exact same thing. It was in one of my Dad's photography books.
Dan’s ability to stay in character while getting absolutely wrecked in the face is next level and deserves more recognition here.
The expression was great but to be fair he only had to stay in character for 1 second :P
We just got to see half an hours worth of it! 😆
He also got a glorious aim. That card shot, holy ****!
@@Brunoenribeiro "HE"... Are you implying that the gun clamp they utilized for the shot, sexually identifies as male? 🤣
(I know you meant Dan, no worries. I just wanted to convey that detail of the gun clamp *_as sarcastically_* as I possibly could... 😊😅 ✌️)

It’s times like these that the boys remind me that even tho they carry the facade of boys breaking stuff on camera, they’re actually exploring the world and showing us what our world looks like milliseconds at a time
It wasn't always like this. It all began with them doing silly stuff on camera. Now they're silly with post production commentary lol
They are definitely boys breaking stuff on camera, but they are also exploring the world. You can do both.
High speed cameras are microscopes for the time dimension
Aren’t all little kids fooling around with cameras and breaking things actually exploring the world around us? These guys were lucky enough to have parents and teachers who didn’t stifle that creativity.
Thanks for taking one for the team, Dan.
I love how you can say this with a straight face, meanwhile 5 of the 18 segments in this video are Dan getting hit in the head with a football.
The craziest thing in this video is when you slow down the grinder to the point that you can read the warning labels. In real time, the camera is still able to capture those small details. That's incredible
I'm glad that they filmed this again, and filmed it together this time. The first part was one of my favorite video they ever made, even despite the situation at the time.
For anyone wondering, the song is Hyperlapse by Bob Bradley, played back at 50% speed. I've spent plenty of time looking for it myself, so I hope this helps someone out.
It's amazing and absurd just how fast light is at 3:50 when the water's barely moving and the light comes and goes like it was nothing. Almost like it's traveling at the speed of light or something.
Even more amazing is how people in the 1600s were able to calculate the speed of light with a wood and glass telescope, and how people in the 1800s were able to get a more accurate calculation with a large wooden cog and a mirror.
That's not actually the speed of light you're seeing. That's the time it takes the flash to heat up, emit light, then rapidly cool down. Light travels at approximately 300,000km per second. So even at 82,000 frames per second, it travels 146 meters per frame!
2:14 - This is what sells slow motion for me
The fact we can never see Stiff objects such as this, a golf ball, or even a metal bar, oscillate in real time, but slowed down, we can see the real stresses the object is enduring. It's crazy.
I think its crazier that he hit that ball so perfectly with a running start💀
What you saw with the golf ball is known as epe ( elastic potential energy)
@@Dunbvuta ok
I know everything is elastic, but ain't no way that thing jiggled that much. It would've shattered. It's way too brittle for that. It must not have been made from the typical material.
This might be my favorite slo mo guys vid. The timing of the frame rate changes, the audio composition, the music choice, and even when each shot was played throughout the video. This is such an excellent video 10/10
I forgot to mention the little clock, and the choice of no voice-over throughout. I imagine that was a big decision of whether you thought people would enjoy it without anyone talking, and it seems to have paid off
It blows me away how innovative these guys are with just one basic concept, ie slow motion. This vid had me on the edge of my seat

Please do a part 3. That was a wonderful set of shots. It's hard to choose a favorite.

I’d love to see the full wide shot of the golf swing
Props to Dan, the golf ball, liquids, etc. for all being so patient and moving so slowly for these spectacular shots! It defiantly was not easy for that bubble to pop that slow, what a heck of a challenge and a successful execute!
Some of the beauty in these shots interspersed with Dan's slowly distorting mug is something to behold. ❤
Let me know which was your favourite shot in this compilation 😊
Dan defo getting ball to face was a picture 😂😂😂😂 sorry dan
Bullet going through card, twas snazzy.
the bird taking off! :D
Definitely the bullet through the card.
I mean, Dan became a cube in that second shot with the football. That's gotta be up there
We've come full circle.
Also, this video really goes to show how much of an art your editing is Gav. You put so much into every single moment it's insane.
slow motion
czcams.com/video/7JpPTPpShoc/video.html
Wow, I especially loved the Carolina Wren taking off at 2:56. Absolutely exquisite. I'd love to see that whole file at full slow-mo. That might be the best high-detail bird-in-flight slow-mo I've ever seen.
There's no way that was 3600x slowed down.
YES
It did seem really really fast
i got so excited when i saw the wren, was not expecting to see one of those in this video
Part 3, please! :) I'm so glad that you're making videos together. I still think about the first video Dan came back to and how happy you were at the end, and it still makes me tear up.
It was amazing to see the golf ball deform so much considering how hard they are. It's honestly difficult to say which clip was a personal favourite, as they're all so brilliantly captured. Thanks for sharing this unique viewing opportunity. 👍🏻
There are many things that are surprisingly flexible when they vibrate at high speed.
Even glass, which we think snaps before it even bends a little bit, is surprisingly wobbly at high speeds.
@@Yora21 I always used to think the helicopter crashing into the building in the first Matrix movie looked so terrible because of the really exaggerated "ripples" before the glass broke, then I watched the video of Dan throwing the hammer through the glass and it turns out that's exactly how it looks. Blew my mind.
@@Yora21 My father used to say, when talking about driving... "Metal becomes pliable at speed" It's not until you've witnessed or been involved in a vehicle collision, does the saying convey such graphic sense.
I think pausing the video at the exact moment where the bubble looked like a jellyfish was a genius touch.
Great video!
Incredible! Does anyone know what music / sound track they are using?
bob bradley hyperlapse slowed down to 0.5 speed
Amazing to see how much beauty is packed into just a single second of a seemingly simple thing.
Dan's jello face is beauty distilled
This comment sums up the video very well
3:50 3600x slower and light still travels from the camera to the water instantly. Feels like no matter how much you slow it down, light will always be crazy fast.
It's so insanely fast, that in that one instant where it went 3600x times slower, it was still travelling over 80,000 meters per second
you do know that, that is not the only example of light in the video right. the only reason we can see the glass and the water is because light is reflecting off of it into the camera.
Uh duh… beyond some particles that we’ve just discovered and can barely understand or measure (including the electron,) light is the fastest thing that we know of. We can’t do anything faster than light. Even colliding atoms travel slower than light.
I'm an atomic physicist, my subject is the Slow light effect. We can slow down light pulses by 100 000 times in our lab, meaning they "only" move at 3000 m/s. That is actually *slower* than geostationary orbit. And enough that we can see the delay of a light pulse moving through our 2 cm crystal on an oscilloscope (as it arrives about 6 μs late).
@@saucenado4844 it is, however, the one time in the video where we could *measure* the light speed. All the other examples would look the same with much slower light (the light would just arrive at the video camera later, but in the same order), but the camera flash reveals that light moves along the hypotenuse from the flash to the video camera in the very same frame as it moves to the glass, bounces off it and reaches the video camera. This puts a lower bound on the speed of light.
God that music is mint, excellent video. The simplicity of it is just mind blowing, the slow pace from the lack of voice over and just slow content happening, the frugality of just having a small clock symbol as the indicator time has practically stopped and all of that with the meditative ambient music it all comes together as unironically one of the best videos you've ever made.
Absolutely love the revisiting of old classics. Football to the head, popcorn, bubble, happy gillmore... so good. All such beautiful shots. Gavin is a very talented dude.
You guys create a whole new universe for all to enjoy!
That golf ball was crazy! I didn't expect THAT much deformation... wow.
The bend of the club was impressive too.
And you can see it continue to stretch back and forth as it heads out of frame. Incredible footage!
well, they didn't create it. they're just putting the beauty that has been created on display for us in an easy to see package.
That bubble popping might have been of the most eerily beautiful things I have ever watched, truely mesmerising!!! If you could post a 30 minute of that, definitely would appreciated and played on repeat!!
Keep up the amazing work , from a simple Aussie lad!
This is just absolutely gorgeous filmography; really such a novel form of art. I could watch these all day- though everything would probably seem super fast around me after awhile >.
Time Dilation as a concept tends to freak me out real bad, so I always get this really weird sense of dread whenever one of these videos comes out.
It’s absolutely fascinating and beautiful, but I can’t help but be terrified at the same time.
I need the soundtrack and a part 3. There is something deeply existential about the videos and the background music.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
I love how excited he is at the end when you can tell he still gets a laugh from hitting his friend in the head with a ⚽️ after watching hundreds of times 😅
The bullet cutting through that card was so clean and satisfying!!! Freaking marksmanship!!!
This is so chill. I just want to listen and watch this for an hour to relax and chill before bed. Please make more!
Yesss!!!!! With the music remaining the same. I would pay for a 2 hour long shot of the golf driving sequence. My imagination just runs away with me. It’s something unlike most things I’ve experienced before. Usually you have to USE your imagination.. in a sort of point and shoot sort of manner.. not with these sequences. Like I said, it just runs away with me.
I just lost it at 3:55. The time got so slow, and yet, it’s like light hasn’t been affected at all. It’s like when Willy Coyote finally reaches the Roadrunner but he just goes “beep beep” and pierces a hole through reality
As if this wasn't already mind blowing, the way you describe and edit this is just another huge step up.
honestly one of the most beautiful slow mo videos out there. nature, sport, macro, natural phenomena, along with lovely music and really nice edits
This is so epic, the music, the shots timing. this looks like straight out of a movie. Need part 3 ASAP. Excellent job guys
Wow..oddly enough my mind has been racing, watching this video is genuinely helping me stay in the moment and admire my surrounding. Brings an odd, comforting, sense of relief.
I’m ready to watch every second
I think this is some of the best footage ever shown on this channel. It’s truly incredible not only how far the technology has come, but also how far Gav’s skill as a videographer has as well
Slow motion is so mystical and beautiful. Imagine all the beauty we miss while looking around in "normal" speed
This one is really well edited. I particularly liked the shot of the bird, even though it was short. I do really enjoy the normal, tongue-in-cheek format as well.
WOULD LOVE TOO SEE A PART 3!
Love the videos Slow Mo Guy, thanks Gav & Dan 🤩
Oh my god that audio just does so much for this video. Incredible job.
Oh Gav, this was just lovely. I could watch these for days.
I've been watching you channel for at least 10 years. From middle school, and now I'm finishing university. Still, after a decade, I am exited to watch a new Slow Mo Guys video. The first 1sec=1hour video gave me chills and this one did not fail either. I think its the music.
What an incredible journey!
I remember slow mo guys were just two friends in the backyard doing experiments.... And it became one of the major youtube channels in history.
What a fantastic comment … RTX 2015 was such a highlighted moment during high school !!
This is beautiful. It's incredible how much our world is different in speed. Falling water would appear frozen, but you'd still miss glass braking if you blinked at the wrong time.
amazing as always looking forward for part 3
Definitely would love a part 3 and 4 even! My favourite bit in Part 2 is the closer look of the Popcorn.
This video was art, I love the music slowing down, all the awesome shots and then the ending being synced up with the camera flash... Absolutly amazing work guys! Would love a part 3!
1:04 poor Dan questioning his life choices...
This video is a testament to your incredible talent and dedication. I loved every second of it, and I know I'll be coming back to watch it again and again. Thank you for sharing your passion with the world, and for making such an incredible piece of content!
You mean every *hour* ;)
Masterpiece!! PART 3 PLEASE
I love these slow-mo videos like this. The popcorn kernal one makes you think how fast it actually pops.
1:10 dan lookin like a painting
but yeah there are so many simple things that look magnificent in slow motion
I love the structure of this vid. Beautiful visuals and tune, occasionally mixed in with Dan's jowls. Perfection.
Would love to see 10 more part Guys.
You rules!!!
Does anyone else want the background music :( It's so relaxing and soothing, I'd listen to it all day
Was looking for such comment ;). It is "Daniele Nacci - Dreamscapes" slowed down by 50%. Enjoy it!
Yes! Love your content.
Really loved part one, so I'm glad you made a second video and even consider making a third one. I think stretching 1 second to 1 hour is a sweetspot for appreciating slow motion as a whole and the beautiful editing and sound design really elevates the shots as well.
I absolutely adore these shots! The shockwave of the gunfire passing the playing card before the bullet eventually reaches the card, tearing through it like a tiny fireball was absolutely mesmerising.
Your filming skill never ceases to amaze me Gav. Thanks for the great content.
please keep this series going, its so interesting
_This video is a Masterpiece on CZcams._ *Thank you, The Slow Mo Guys*
I could literally sit and watch these videos all day long… always excited to see a new video, and yes definitely a part 3
I'd legitimately watch that bubble popping or the axe being sharpened for an hour straight at this speed. Loved it
I loved the bubble at 2:42. It looked like an eye. The already popped part looked like the iris and the still intact partial circle looked like the lens.
But the best was probably the periodic returns to poor Dan's smooshed face. 🤣
Mesmerizing.. the music choice combined with the shots. Beautiful !
I definitely want part 10!!!
This is amazing, and brilliant as always :) The sound track fits in perfectly making it even more mesmerising! Cant wait to see a part 3👍
What a video man! This was extremely relaxing, time is fascinating
hello there
@@ninayasmijn General Kenobi! You *are* a bold one.
That was absolutely amazing. The camera flash in the glass of water, Dan's utter destruction of that golf ball, the hummingbird takeoff, and all paired with those perfect sound effects, and that excellent music choice. Bravo.
This video has a serious amount of class to it. Very well done.
1:40 legit looks like it could be from a Bond intro
Hope this goes up to part 100 and never ends this is so amazing! Such a nice music choosen for this video and it gives such a nice vibe and flow with the slow motion.
Yes definitely do a part 3! These videos are just stunning and I love the music choice!
This one is much better than last years. With you being the only subject, the surreal music, and your stoic expressions it felt lonely. It's better with Dan because it's 2 friends having a blast messing around with a slow mo cam. Looking forward to another one next year!
I do love the audio samples you attach to all of this. It really pulls the footage together!
Really loving the new soundtrack, and the compilation format. Obviously I love the dan&gavin behind the scenes sections but this makes for a really refreshing change of pace xx
what is the name of the sound track
What a beautiful video guys. PART 3 please!!!
I love these types of slow motion complitation videos. So soothing and relaxing to watch and take your time off the world.
I like how the weedeater wires rotate and cut the stem synced to the beat of the music at 4:15 Nice production work.
1:27 that's a bloody good shot
I love it. Part 3 please!
That golf ball stretching was everything
Let's be honest, the cuts to Dan's face were the highlight of this video.
0:30 I legit thought that was an EGG lmao🤦♂
Me too 😂
Same
I really love the throwbacks to all the old videos
Absolutely a cinematic masterpiece, I'm sure a part 3 would be greatly appreciated by everyone here.
What amazes me the most is how fast a bird moves compared to Dan!
I loved the bird flying most I think... such wonder and majesty in every movement... the mastery of the feathers and how each one is so amazing... it's like watching a cat jump in super slow motion... or a dog catch something... where you can see each muscle movement... each thing one by one moving to complete the task... love that stuff.
Also liked the grinder... and the chainsaw... would like to see more things you wouldn't normally consider...
These are my FAVOURITE videos on this platform. So calming
This channel has come such a long way from filming in your parent's back yard... Amazing quality as always, I can't wait to see what you've got for us next :)
Gav's editing has gotten crazy good!!
These videos are always so incredible to watch
The poetry of time hidden away in a single second. Marvelous.
Please please please make more of these they are just so amazing to watch, and I think I speak for everyone, we need an extended version

I love how artistic you make your videos, from the lighting to the choice of sound effects to the backing music, it's absolutely amazing ❤❤
Have you ever filmed something like a sparkler in slowmo? I'd love to see that if you haven't 😁
It's probably the editing and the great music/timing but it all comes together in a way that makes me re-appreciate the little things in life. Very good stuff guys!
Yes, yes, yes, want a part 3.
Love it. Love this channel.
I thought catching a flying bullet was impressive, then I saw that golf ball turn into JELLY 2:23
