  • Find out how Bayern Munich humiliated Barcelona on the biggest stage as Hansi Flick's tactics proved too much for Setien's Barcelona. Hansi Flick has the perfect plan to target the weak points in Barcelona's shape. This allowed Bayern to not only nullifying Barca's main strength when defending, but attack their tactical gameplan to play intricate football - no matter what Barcelona tried.

THANK YOU for actually giving credit to Bayern for their disciplined play and great team spirit! I'm so tired of commentators and pundits selling them short and spending all their time talking about Neymar this and Messi that. You don't just luck into beating another Champions League-level team 8-2. Hansi Flick and the staff in general deserve WAY more kudos.

they deserve credit , but not as much as it seems. Barca was a Broken , lifeless and leaderless team, both from the players and the non-existant coach. id go as far as to say that this game was a profesional team against a non-profesional team, and that's how a non-profesional score was achieved on such an important match.

@@MrGalRoz I wouldn't go that far, I think Barcelona died when Bayern won 8-2, but they weren't dead when they went into the game (at the time already not a healthy club, but not down to the level they are now). I think before the game nobody expected Bayern to win nearly as high as they did and the game before Bayern Barcelona won 3-1 against Napoli, which by any means isn't a weak club, certainly not a club a "non-professional" team would win 3-1 against.

As he explains their tactics. It certainly now makes sense as to why they won by so much. It was the smallest runs and smallest fractions of time that allowed Bayern to make those runs and create space and make passing runs. When I look at the video. For example, whenever Bayern’s defender had the ball, someone like Gnabry would run 10-15 ft towards the defender and creating space for someone on the opposite side of the pitch because of the movement and rotation that Bayern is causing Barcelona. All round GG’s. I am a Barcelona supporter but tbh they got outplayed. Well done to you as well for clearing up the tactics behind everything. Keep it up! 👍

So when they were so well prepared, they could apply that pressing. And Hansi Flick's tactics also hit this very spot when it hurt the most

The Barca that we witnessed that day, wasn’t even a faded copy of Barca at its height, we’ve watched lamed squad the reached the quarter final because of a single player, and when any opponent succeed to man mark that single player, the team faces dilemma that leads it to play randomly, which in turn leads to disastrous results. As old time fan of Barca, I knew that Bayern would beat Barca, simply because Bayern is the better team among the two, yet Barca players, including Leo, didn’t fight back for their dignity. We, the Barca fans, fed up of receiving bitter defeat over and over again: Rome, Juve, Liverpool, and finally we received the bitterest and most humiliating defeat from Bayern. This time, Bayern install a collar of shame on Barca’s neck. If Barca has any dignity left, it should drastically uproot its governing authorities, be it the board or technical management or the whole lazy asses players. This is the only way that Barca could prove to the world that the club is bigger than any individual!

It may sounds weird but Barca is just a average team in Europe without Messi. Messi is there so they r able to play in Champions League. Without him Barca can't even reach the Champions League. Without Messi Barca will be among no 8-15 teams in Laliga. And that's d reality. Everyone knows it.

I didn’t doubt the great deal of value that Messi brings to football world, yet Messi or any other great player aren’t immortal or even aren’t immune from aging and weakness. If we agree on this particular point, I’d ask: shall the Barca fans succumb to that and give their great club away?
Or they should put all possible pressure to get rid of this failing management and put in power a visionary Adminstration team to fill up Barca’s vitrines with trophies again?

This is what I always was telling, To beat Barcelona or Man City you have to keep at last three forwards right to the defense line to leave them without the defense backup. I would even go farther, assign one forward right next to goalie. Neither Barca nor ManU have no idea how to play if they don't have their goalie as a safe haven. They have no idea what to do if can't drop the ball back to their goalie. And by the way, in this game ter Stegen showed his real quality when he's on the constant pressure, unlike usually having one two shots in his direction for the whole game.

Bayern had better tactics and flat out better players. Lewandoski in the middle causes such an issue then Perisic whether starting or sub owns LM. Solid acceleration for big guy so can get around corner when needed, then 2 footed finishing creates a dilemma for defender. The overall energy was so much better as well. Messi likely leaving will be good for Barca to refresh their identity.

Very interesting! Imho, it shows how subpar Barcelona's recruitment and planning was. Yes Flick's tactics was really good, but to me it seems he also benefited massively to the fact that his team's strengths were tailored made to exploit Barcelona's substantial weaknesses. Suarez and Messi don't press -> Bayern's high quality CBs have time to send the killer pass. Suarez and Messi don't defend -> rest of the team has to cover for them smh by awkwardly keeping some sort of shape -> perfect for space poachers like Lewandoski and Muller who are uber-experts at creating and exploiting space. Suarez has become slow(-ish) -> Bayern can play a high line with no hesitation because either their super fast WBs can track back in time or Neuer can sweep the ball away. Barca lack decent wingers who provide and defend width-> Bayern can defend narrow, set up a pressing trap when the ball goes to the FBs, and uses their super fast WBs to overload.
Bayern had really high quality players, who when assembled and coached in the right way were the perfect anti-barca.

Great video thanks. I was getting really tired of the "Barcelona were poor/lost the match/end of an era"etc when it's clear Bayern's tactics, teamwork, drive and skills won the match. A team leading 4 or 5 ahead normally chills or relaxes but not Bayern they kept pressing and scoring goals to the final whistle.
