Who Gave the Bears Warp Tech? | The Long Dark

- Part 1 of the most scuffed bear hunt in Timberwolf Mountain history. I know Hinterland is a small team and they have a lot on their plate with the new update and DLC, but some fixes are badly in need in being made. After all this -- and despite several rifle rounds and arrows that followed -- the bear went to take a nap. To see the conclusion of this bear hunt, watch: • Wanna See a Magic Tric... . THE LONG DARK is a thoughtful, exploration-survival experience that challenges solo players to think for themselves as they explore an expansive frozen wilderness in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. There are no zombies -- only you, the cold, and all the threats Mother Nature can muster. - Hry
Ice is sure slippery.
Boy howdy. I've heard of having springs in one's heels, but never jet boosters.
Guess the bear had a really good gaming chair.
thats quantum superposition. the bear was in all places until you stepped out of the circle
homie's a professional ice skater and you're bothering him during training man
This made me laugh, I needed that today. Good video
Happy to oblige. Creating nonsense to make people's day a little better is why I'm here.
Insert the TF2 I fear no man but that thing it scares me meme here
I admit I had to look up the meme, but it certainly fits.
"COME ON TARS"
Baldur's Gate 3 lore:
That bear got himself a Sandevistan
Dude is on bearoids
Cocaine bear
after the latest updates, bears have become the biggest bug in the game
Like the bears needed even more superpowers.
Gamer:What? What you do?
Bear:GAS! GAS! GAS!
I had a bear do this to me in Coastal Highway. Hope this gets fixed.
Agreed. Happy as I am to see all the new content coming into TLD of late, it'd also be great if Hinterland took a beat (maybe after finishing Episode 5?) and patched up the bugs and other eccentricities that have popped up recently or never been addressed. The console players in particular would appreciate that, I think.
Real inspiration for the movie Cocaine Bear
This happened in MyUsualMe's stream today. We all had a good laugh.
Glad to hear I'm not alone in my suffering and/or bewilderment. The bear taking its hide and a half-dozen arrows with it into the great beyond annoyed me in the moment, but with distance it is admittedly worth a laugh.
Had the bear near the poacher's camp in FM do this once and I never even shot him. Definitely scary when you don't know where he's going to glide to lol.
Ah, yes. Kool-Aid Bear. I've had a few run-ins with that one, too. At least FM has those big downed trees you can climb and be (relatively) safe. And you're right about the zoomies making the bears scarier -- I've seen a bear glide backwards butt-first into a player and then attack them.
Just wait until he goes super saiyan.
I can see The panic
Well, you're not wrong. Part of the panic comes from a previous run where I had a bear change its mind mid-freakout and decide to attack Astrid instead. Since then I get very nervous when a bear starts making those noises but isn't also running away.
This happened to me after getting mauled by the same bear twice in a row at night, barely escaping, and then it suddenly appeared out of nowhere and circled me for several minutes as I tried to get back to a safe place. I thought it was some kind of hallucination effect, and when I finally got to a safehouse and then it just disappeared. Scared the shit out of me.
Circling prey ... being more aggressive at night ... vanishing suddenly ... are we sure Hinterland didn't "accidentally" add bearsharks to TLD?
that bear lowkey teabagged you
GAS GAS GASSS IM GONNA STEPP ON THE GAAASSS TONIIIGHHTTTTTTT ILLLL FLYYYYYY
Domain Expansion.
?!?!
Musta ate some bad mushrooms.
Who did, Astrid or the bear? Astrid only has access to reishi mushrooms as far as I know. If it's the bear, I need to find their stash because that was a wild ride.
Korega... MADO IN HEAVEN DA
What is up with the dang bears, Troop.
I wish I knew, Koru. It probably wouldn't make hunting any easier, but at least there'd be less mystery about the whole thing. Instead, I'm out here conjuring up worlds in which someone violated the Prime Directive and slipped the bears warp technology.
I loughed so hard at this one
It is an icebear, subvariant iceskate bear.
"I'm just running in the 90's"
This needs an edit with deja-vu in the back 😂
The algorithm brought me here, and I'm glad.
And we're glad to have you.
This happened to me long ago and i was laughing and terrified same time.
Understandable. I'd probably have been laughing more except that I had that bear do something similar over by the Wing earlier in my stay in Timberwolf Mountain. There was a part of me worried that my run, my longest to that point, was somehow bugged.
@@trooperbari well i was about to reach my first year in that run and It was interloper...
Later i discovered It happened sometimes when you aim/shoot with any gun the bear so It charges you but cannot reach so the bear starts yo use dragon ball techniques
Pov: slick back
Initial D Bear what the fuck
I should see if I can lay No One Sleep in Tokyo over that. Might take the edge off the sound of my silent terror.
Is this what Interloper mode looks like? 💀💀
Oh, if only Interloper was this entertaining. Usually it's just a dull, looming sense of dread as you watch your character slowly starve or freeze to death. In comparison, this is some Looney Tunes action.
MADE IN HEAVEN
Bear went hypersonic
I recently came across a ptarmigan that had unusual flight skills. Caught it on video as proof.
I have never had this bug in the game.
In fairness, that was the first and only time I've had that happen. The animals still have some eccentric behavior -- Kool-Aid Bear, moonwalking wolves, flare shell-proof moose, etc. -- but nothing to that game-breaking level since then.
The prime directive strictly forbids arming bears advanced technology... I don't know why it specifically said bears I don't know what happened?
As ever, if there's a rule against it, odds are good someone's tried it before.
Great now I have a new thing to stress about in this game
In Hinterland's defense, that was the first and last time I had that happen. The animals are only the regular kind of weird now, not the "acquire warp tech and rocket to the moon" kind of weird.
@@trooperbari well the cougar definitely had warp tech
Trailer for cocaine bear looks crazy
I knew that white stuff laying around couldn't ALL be snow....
The Infamous Bear Bug. 😅
I'd never seen it before, which made the whole episode rather frightening. Little did I know Hinterland would 'improve' on the bug in the latest update and have bears you can launch into space.
@@trooperbari yes! I’ve seen that too. Ppl are Calling that the heavenly bear 😂
he just had to much redbull
Uh… yeah… so that happened😭😭
Cocaine Bear!?!
I had a good chuckle on this one. ;D
Yeah, to paraphrase Richard Pryor, that's funny now. In the moment it's terrifying because you don't know if the bear's going to stop wigging out and attack. Maybe in future I need to have a Yakety Sax sounder ready should such shenanigans happen again. That should help ratchet down the terror a bit.
fast and furious 3
Fast and Furry-ous, surely.
Do I hear boss musi . . .
If I didn't before, I certainly do now when I go bear hunting.
Great update)
DEJA VU!
All over again, yes.

Animal ai needs to be redone badly.
You're not wrong. For all of Hinterland's reassurances that animals are behaving as intended, there's still jank out there that needs to be fixed. I hold out hope that some long-delayed fixes will be done once Episode 5 is in the can, but I'm probably in the minority there.
Hilarious.
This happened to me too.
Yeah, I've heard more people saying that. I suppose there's some good news that neither TWM nor I are uniquely cursed, but it's also bad news that bears everywhere are acting sketchily, making hunting them that much more worrying. Fixing animal behavior might not be very high on Hinterland's priority list at the moment -- especially given developments around the TFTFT updates -- but I would appreciate their getting animal encounters down to their regular stress levels.
User error.

Форсаж 11
Yeah, they're probably already working on the screenplay. Brock Lesnar will star as the bear.
I'm out!
I was sorely tempted to just walk away and let the bear do its thing, but the siren song of the Wrapped in Furs achievement was too strong. I had to have that bear hide to make the bearskin bedroll, but alas the bear had other ideas.
Lmao wtf is this?
This is what can happen when addressing animal behavior gets knocked down the priority list amid updates, a DLC, and their respective fixes. I said during the stream that I trust Hinterland will fix this eventually, and I stand by that, but some janky animal behavior has been around for years.
