Barista Vlog Australia (Working in One of The Busiest Cafes in Sydney CBD)

  • Hey guys! In this video, I'll show you how my daily routine looks like as a barista.
This video was recorded when Sydney had zero case of covid for quite a long period of time, that's why you can observe we were so chill and relaxed. Wearing masks was not mandatory in Sydney yet. However, as many companies are now implementing a working-from-home policy, it has impacted our cafe a lot.
We wish you all stay safe wherever you are and please enjoy the video :)

Was a barista for a time and had that same experience of seeing people wait outside the cafe before it opened (at like 5:30am), sometimes even when it was raining. It's a mostly chill time, even if you're in the midst of rush it can go relatively smoothly if you have enough stock/staff to accommodate. The hard part is dealing with entitled customers, bonus that if you get a bunch of them back to back during rush. I strongly believe that I learned more about life in 6 months of managing a cafe than I did in 4 years of college. Everybody should experience working this type of job at some point in their lives. You have my respect fellow barista!

thanks for sharing your experience! i’m a current college student and just got hired at starbucks yesterday :) and i chose to go for starbucks because i wanted to gain skills and experiences and grow as a person. not to mention, i also have social anxiety and previously was quite bad at social interaction, so i want this job to push me to practice and help with my anxiety. it will be interesting dealing with entitled customers and i just feel like it will help me become stronger and more vocal. your comment assures me that i will definitely gain a lot from my new job!!

Its tough times for all. In Melbourne (Australia) we went from over 700+ cases a day to 0. Granted we endured fairly harsh lockdowns for 6 months, we now sit fairly comfortable and appear to be on top of it now. Masks were required and are now loosened with the need for masks only when shopping in tight confines. Wishing you the best of luck, stay strong. It may feel like forever, but things will slowly become normal over time.

I legit choked up seeing everyone without masks. It's brutal here in America on so many levels.

@@knittingdoula Sydney had it pretty good. Lockdown for around 6 weeks in march then everything slowly started opening up again. Was at the beach on the weekend and you couldnt even tell we were in a pandemic. Until after Christmas, most people didnt wear masks. Felt sorry for the guys in Melb though, they had pretty severe lockdowns.

@@shavenkat yeah, I'm in Melbourne and as you know we're currently on lockdown no.3. I'm really hoping we reopen this Thursday. They say it'll only be five days but who knows that may get extended up to a few more days or even weeks or months for that matter. Fingers crossed that's not gonna happen. 🤞🤞 🙏

Everything you did at your shift is so similar to what I did when I worked in a coffee shop in London. Miss the pre pandemic bustles

Shocked you can have the biscuits out on the counter
We used to have customers just grabbing handfuls when we left ours out 😂
