- In today's video, I sit down at the RTR 2017 and open myself up to the audience to ask any questions they may have. I tried to answer as honestly and openly as I could--I hope you get something out of it!

Thanks for watching!
Bob, you're one of the few men on the planet that have truly made it. Congratulations!
My heart sunk when he said his son passed. Bob my deepest condolences. We love you ❤
Bob is the greatest. Full of wisdom from experience
I'm 51 yrs old & my family thinks I'm insane for wanting to live a nomad lifestyle 😥 I've saved 20k $$ so far in order to purchase a van. Everyone thinks I should buy a home. Following you for a year now keeps me motivated to stay the course & live the second half of my life on my terms. Thank you so much Bob for all you do !
I am in the exact same boat you are....I am tired of chasing my tail and paying so much for something that inspires me so little. Let's escape!
Stephanie Russell .....As I’m reading your comment I’m a few days away from turning 51. Rent is too high so instead of imagining myself renting a room in some stranger’s house, I imagine myself in an RV. My daydreams are so much better!
@LD R for me, buying a home since I had a job in the city, was almost mandatory. I wanted to benefit from house prices going up, and also from paying rent to myself. I thought my house was expensive when I bought it 30 years ago, now I can't believe what houses cost. It was a burden at times but it has more than paid for itself. I love being able to work in my yard and not have people tell me what I can or can't do on my property. No HOA for me!! Cheers.
Stephanie Russell
Go for it.... it’s your life
Don’t let others live it for you!
I am 60 and my family does not understand not living in a stix and bricks. They think even if you are mortgaged to death , its ok.
God bless you Bob. You have helped thousandes of poor people to survive.
I too have two sons...one living, one passed away. Thank you for acknowledging your passed son, as that is something important for me..I think when youve lost a child there is a strange and unspoken connection with others who have been through this. BOB is such a relatable, genuine guy....this interveiw drew me to his personality even more. Thank you Bob.
Listen Bob you are needed so much in the nomad world and you are appreciated greatly. Just take care of your health and enjoy all the years you have left
Thank you for what you do. Take your me time it makes us better humans
Bob your a great person thank you for the information you put out here.
That was fun getting to know you a little better Bob 😀. Thanks for ALL you do! 💞✨
Bob you just do it for me, your demeanor, your actions, the words you choose....The ease of words that come out of your mouth. The reassurance every single time. I enjoy you daily sometimes all day long no I haven't been able to go through all the videos but I am trying, AND I WILL. I wanted you to know that I appreciate you, I appreciate what you're doing for me..for all of US. I do have to honestly say if it wasn't for you and Diane (the lady who said you can come out here and HEAL) I WOULD NOT be alive today. Thank you. I CANNOT WAIT TO MEET YOU and hopefully Diane and Ms Sueanne....Peace my brother and sisters......until then.❤❤❤
I look for the RTR to grow into a huge thing even 100,000 because ppl like myself who are just tired of working 40 plus years, losing loved ones , living in houses full of things but not full of people. I think it is a beautiful thing when thousands of ppl can get together, share great ideas, eat together, make lifetime friends, help each other, learn new things, bob wells you brought this to millions. Please never stop I have been watching you almost 3 years. I will be out there soon and as a female I agree I need help .
This man is a wise sage, an intellectual, a great filmmaker, a scholar..... and a dog lover. The last one got to me. I have two dogs who will be a part of my adventure. I begin that journey tomorrow. I am starting a channel, not to monetize, but to share my story. I would love to meet you someday my friend. Your channel has inspired, assisted, and so much more. You are a true genuine human being. The kind of man that God is proud of. I have formatted my vehicle for winter in Canada. I start my journey tomorrow. I have been planning for 3 years. I don't take it lightly. I will never be an apartment dweller in this lifetime. Thanks so much for your sincerity and and love of freedom. Love you my brother. God Bless.
Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom.❤️
I coach (mostly) women on computer skills, and I find that girls were raised not to touch things “you might break it!”
Boys usually are encouraged to take stuff apart. Broad strokes, I know, but I’ve seen women break through and grow in skills. I see you doing that, Bob. Love your balance of solitude & community. 💕
🥦🥦🥦🥦😺
Bless you for rescuing your Dog.
The last scene was people in line to meet Bob and even get his autograph. The beginning of the video was him telling an anecdote about crying himself to sleep when he first had to move into his box van. You just can’t predict how life will unfold! : )
K. PacificNW, beautiful summary. Perhaps Bob's lesson to us is that we should always have hope because things change and can turn around in a heartbeat. Thank you for sharing!
BOB WELLS... YOU ARE LOVED!!! xoxo
Such an amazing human being.
I always appreciate your honesty Bob and it’s inspiring to hear some of your backstory!
You are so open. That makes you so relatable and approachable. I appreciate you and how you help people too.
May GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY 🙏🏿
The woman with kids... those of us that seek to help others and make a difference have experiences that change our lives in that direction. Thank you.
Very interesting and insightful interview. Thank you for your thoughtful sharing and the views from your life. You make the world a better place.
At least you have something that makes you happy. I've been a jipsy my hole life. I've been taking care of my brother for year's. He was in a motorcycle accident. I'm collecting stuff for when I can be free again. Love your channel Bob. God Bless Peace@Love
It is spelled gypsy
Life's too short Bob,do what makes you happy. You've been a God send to a lot of people who need to live. You have a lot of followers, who'll do your work. Love from everyone in Canadada
Congrats on Nomadland
Incredible Video Bob! Thank You! You're amazing ,
I so enjoy your videos. You are so personable and a great speaker. You inspired me to drive 7000 miles across and back the US in a camper. It was a wonderful experience. Your show is an inspiration to others. Thanks
Karen where did you start and what were some of your adventures? I am starting to plan myself...
Thank You for sharing your story. Appreciate your honesty and frankness. You are very inspirational!! 🙏👍😎
That was awesome!!! I loved every moment of this conversation!!! Thank you for your wisdom!!!👠🚌👠
I am sorry you lost a child Bob.
Bob, you are a great inspiration for so many ! I live in PA and the taxes are horrible. I have been following you as well as Caravan Caroline and because of you two, I am nearing my decision to become a nomad. My biggest obstacle is being disabled and needing life saving injections every two weeks. I am slowly downsizing and watching for a step van, to custom. Thank you for your videos, your honesty and the ability to encourage us to live a freer life. Carpe Diem
Hi Bob just going back over videos due to being stuck at home. Best Visual and audio video I’ve ever seen. Love your work on videos you do for all of us. Thank you. Thank you. 💕💕💕
Hi Bob! I love your positivity! It is so good that you have found the way you love to live. I have been watching your videos for a while now, and they are fascinating to me.
You have such a great helping nature, may god bless you Bob🙏
We don't know who we really are, We discover what we want in our Environment as we work the build. Each one with different needs becomes an individual, healing from nature and God!
You are such an amazing man. I was checking to see if it's legal to sleep in a car in n.j. and came across this whole world!!! Nomads!!!!! I'm a loner and just can't seem to get along with people but have no problem with animals. Any animal.thankyou for sharing all your knowledge, makes me feel I'm gonna be ok out there.
Checking out some of Bob's older videos. This one is great! I really enjoy it when Bob talks about his philosophy and what are his passions. Family, tattoos, camping, etc. He shared a lot about his personal life in this Q&A. Good stuff Bob.
Bob.... you should play Santa Claus during the holiday season! My nieces saw you and yelled, “There’s Santa Claus! 😂😂
I found this video just today and have been so blessed by it. Finished up with my second Covid-19 vaccine yesterday. I have two weeks until I can actually travel and just need to get my tires replaced and transmission fluid looked at. Everything else is good to go for a weekender before my long term trips. Keep doing all you do, and remember to take care of yourself.
Bob thanks for sharing !
Thank you Bob ;-) I love how you see and respect the world. Thank you for helping so many people, please remember you are not finished yet. ...... ;-)
Bob you are such a great guy in all you do. I hope you take time for yourself as well, you deserve that too.
May God bless you , as I'm sure he does and will. You give so much to others.
All your videos are great and help others so much.
Thank you for sharing your time, cause time you cant get back, and it is a gift you share as well.
Bob.. i foubt you'll see this. Sir you saved my life..ty
I love what I do! Thanks Bob
Thanks Bob, from another Bob. Said hello to you in town this January, 2019 in Quartzite.
Thanks Bob! I love ya man
Good to see you Bob. Great vid.
Thank you.
An inspiring story full of discovery.
Bob. I am so ready to come and meet you. I have tears as my heart grows .... Kindred comes to mind.
Love the idea of the mentorship program (for women or men) !!! Great idea!!!!
We are deeply in need of this for so many lost souls.
@@jaimhaas5170 Ok, that too. I was thinking of people like myself who need guidance and help with all of it. Although I'm not necessarily "lost" I could use help so that I don't have to re-invent the wheel or make costly mistakes or mess up income (for example disability, SS retirement, etc) by not having the right kind of address.
But I agree - many are not so much choosing this lifestyle as they are being forced into it as their last option before homelessness.
I am not quite at that point but all I need is one or two bad events such as losing my job, health issues, etc and it will also be my only option.
@@DeliaLee8 yes I see your point. I did not mean that they are "lost" as in "losers" but I was thinking in need of guidance. Bob has so many vids of various topics (some of which you mention here) but it can be a challenge to find it. I am hoping that we can break into smaller groups that could meet monthly (maybe by state or by region) so there is more sharing in person. The once a year in AZ is the Mecca but we need more regional offerings.
@@jaimhaas5170 I like you idea of regional groups!! Good idea. Offers a chance to prepare, plan, learn all year while waiting for Mecca :)
💗Hello Bob💗
You mention getting a recliner in your van if you can. Well, I can't sleep lying down, so I've been sleeping in my recliner for 3 years. I'm very comfortable in it. So, would it be effective to just put my recliner in my van build and forgo the bed?
He has a video of a woman who did exactly that.
Definitely a recliner & NO bed‼️
Thankyou, for all you do and for caring
You are welcome Heidi. Glad you are here! Thanks for watching!
I will be breaking free at the end of July and you mentioned a video about what newbies do wrong, I hope you do that video and soon please, you do so much for so many, thank you Bob
Thank you for the update about Kathleen. Hope that her life is going great. :)
Thank you
Nice Q & A! Thanks!
Hi from the UK, great channel Bob. Interesting stuff.
A mentorship program is a great idea Bob . Thank you for suggesting that. Or a mentoring person. Thanks !
Wyoming. I had the pleasure of finding land & building a log home in the Bighorn Mts. Love Wyoming. I had hoped to retire there someday but of course, things don't always go the way planned. Jackson Hole, Buffalo, Cody, all really beautiful areas. Interesting hearing some of your answers in this question & answer video.
That was really nice, very informative and enjoyable
Bob, we have not met yet. I have never been to the RTR. I plan to do both January 2022. I subscribe to you, however and learn from you about nomadic life AND life! You seem anything but a loner. You are confident, personable and posses polished social skills. I'm Scott.
Wonderful Q&A
Only just found your channel, Roberto. This was the perfect 2nd video to experience.
Spot on BOB audio is very important to me !
Keep the volume hi but not too high Bob I love your show ! Thanks for all your work !
I love you Bob!
Love your channel Bob
This was a fun video. I now know we have a few things in common. You mentioned a few of you favorite places and I have been to everyone one except Alaska. Alaska is on my list. When I was younger I traveled with my family in a camper, beat time of my life. Goal in my life is to retire early and do it all again. Thanks for what you do.
Thank u
Bob what about state by state meetings for the tribe? Monthly or quarterly would be a huge benefit for many.
I don't know if it's just me or if anyone else saw what I saw when Bob was remembering the lady & 3 kids in Anchorage, but in those few moments I seemed to get some insight into the epic amount of generosity and empathy in this man's soul. He looked to be regretting not speaking with her. Maybe that's what he's been doing all these years since then.
Also, how can one NOT fall in love with UT?
I would join your mentorship. thank you for posting skill sets. you are an angel too. So much good we can do down the road.
Love this Vid!
Love ur videos
Keep up the good work Bob!!
Mentoring is an excellent idea!
We had so much fun at our first RTR this year...Was really surprised how well it went.. I believe the sectioning off was brilliant... Hope to make it this next year... hopefully we won't be rained on...at the next one.
Great post! thanks for sharing this, lots of my curiosity about you has been answered. I still hope to join a RTR, commitments to family, friends and job need to shift first...I do wish you posted your latest camera preferences...
Bob I have a question on the difference on the Olympain heaters & the Buddy heaters , I spent a week in a camper [ small ] while deer hunting & used a Buddy , nice heat & no smell , are they not the same -- radiant heat ??
My name is Alan and I am very I love you videos and I don't want to start doing this in in June July 4th I think I'm going to start doing a nomad I've been watching your videos and build my van
I think one of the most important things is not to forget you have a vehicle to maintain and preventative task must be done. You must know your systems.
Hi bob! Were you raised in Alaska? My dad went to school with a Bob Wells in Anchorage!
Yes, Bob, please post a follow-up with Fiberine! (sp)
♥️♥️♥️May be forced into this soon. Very scared. Just a tiny car. Watching everything. May purchase Bobs classes on skill share. As a necessity. Love. To all
Cant wait to meet you
What brand of microwave or voltage do you use?
I love you, man...:-)
solar can be done with folding panels even flexible ones
you did a build on a van were you used a metal bed frame I know you do a lot vidoes but this simple build totes ect. where did you get the bed frame?
Would love to run into you and Carolyn someday soon. Still looking for my shortbed overhead camper.
Bob, have you ever thought about what you would do with RTR and CRVL if the time ever came to give up those things?
Blessings to you Bob in Jesus name!
Nice talk and good advice......😅
Tell me about snakes scorpions and black widows in Arizona and other areas. Thank you.
good video
I Love Alaska. I lived in Fairbanks. I do want to go back. But I'm also interested in this can living thing
For those wondering about Fiberine; Fiberine did not install his High-top. They are offering to fix some other companies poor install job.
He got a shoddy job done in NC...
@@ShayTBD I would guess, when Bob had his high-top installed, that would not be true. HOWA did not exist, I doubt Bob mentioned Cheaprvliving when he talked with the company, and the only 'billboard' would have been that Bob records so much for posting to YT and that's something hard to not notice/hide.
