Watching part three in of itself was a wild ride, Watching Iggy give his life to safe Polnareff honestly broke my heart. He went down like a hero, a truly outstanding hero.

I mean at least we didn't see Iggy grow old until he was a shadow of his former self, right? He would have been the first crusader it would have happened to.

@@tudoraragornofgreyscot8482 Polnareff and Jotaro, even if they weren't in their prime in parts 5 and 4 (respectively), still had plenty of fight in them. (I can't comment on 6, as I'm not there yet)
As for Joseph... The old man needed a break. He lost two of his closest friends, lost half his team, helped save the world from two of its greatest threats,and worst of all... Pissed off his wife by letting his... *cough*... Wandering eyes get the best of him

Iggy is legit one of my favorite characters in all of jojo.
He may seem selfish but has a heart of gold and is truly a loyal memeber to the crusaders.
Ironically enough despite him and polnareffs rocky relationship in the end I'd say that they bonded the most and how after iggys death it really pushed him to complete his the misson.
His fight with petshop shows how intelligent he is and how he outsmarted a way more versatile stand user with his own wits.

Iggy being a hero definitely proves the notion that being an animal doesn't make you inherently evil, like Forever or Pet Shop at worst or Bug-Eaten and its unnamed ally at best. It shows that even animals have ironically differing grades of humanity and it explores the concept of what makes one a person within what is nonhuman, culminating in Foo-Fighters the lovable corpse possessing Plankton.
Exactly. It's definitely a major shift from the only previous animal Stand user, Forever, who was an arrogant molester ape despite his intelligence. Iggy actually being a good guy who directly aids in the fight against DIO proves that not all non-human Stand users are necessarily threats (a train of thought that rarely ends well in JoJo except for Coco Jumbo - really wish that little turt was given more of a personality).
In a way, Pet Shop is Iggy's perfect foil; like Igg,y who isn't _totally_ good (having refused to initially help against DIO despite undoubtedly being told of DIO's atrocities and threat to the world), Pet Shop also isn't completely evil. Despite his brutality, Pet Shop is really only fighting to protect his master against any and all threats (justified given how dangerous the Crusaders and other unknown Stand users could be to DIO), and his single-minded resolve to protect DIO would likely ironically be respected by Part 5 characters (Bruno, Giorno). He only appears evil since he happens to be fighting and trying to kill our heroic doggo, when really Iggy's also known for being brutal when he feels like it (maimed Boingo, a literal child, just for kicking a box on him, and nearly karate-chopped Vanilla Ice in half). We don't know Pet Shop's past, but it's reasonable to conclude DIO in some way took him in as a hatchling (we know DIO was interested in recruiting Stand users, and one video depicts Pet Shop as having his Stand from when he was an egg). While Iggy keeps his distance from the Crusaders and maintains stubborn independence, Pet Shop ironically pledged absolute obedience to his master with no thoughts or actions independent from serving him.
I honestly wonder how the fight would've gone if Pet Shop could speak; he could rave about DIO's greatness and his devotion to protecting him, while Iggy responds by furiously accusing him of abandoning his proud animal heritage to be an obedient lapdog rather than flying free. As Iggy himself would know what it's like to be doted on, kept and used by a wealthy person only to decide the pampering and priviledges that came with it weren't worth the demeaning treatment, it's tempting to imagine how the battle might've differed if Iggy told Pet Shop about his own lifestyle of freedom and self-care as opposed to a rewarded but subservient pet.
Irony: happening in the opposite way to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this.
By this definitely animals having differing grades of humanity isn’t ironic. I firmly believe that even the most unintelligent of animals can become “human” within the correct circumstances. Iggy is just the best example of this.

I loved how Iggy just popped in every once in a while to get his paycheck
I really felt like the change Araki did to iggy's face over the second part of stardust crusaders really helped humanize him. To me, he looked a lot more like a person and there was also the artistic freedom of araki being able to give him more human emotions.
i liked how he started looking more expressive and human like the more good deeds he did for the crusaders, like he himself was understanding them, and slowly growing more respect for what they do
If Iggy managed to survive into Part 4, I would've been devastated, given how dogs age. He'd more of a shadow of his former self than Joseph- being maybe senile, half/completely blind and being likely unable to walk far. It'd be really bittersweet.
Thinking about an old Iggy makes me think about my Uncle’s old dog who is nearly blind because of his cataracts. I also see him just limping around everywhere because of his missing paw and just lying down and sleeping everywhere. It is bittersweet, yet I dare say at least Iggy died young in a heroic fashion and was defiant to the end
Dogs enjoy life as much as they can like all the time - I feel like Iggy would be one of those dogs (and in a way, people I know) who essentially decide when their time is up. I’ve met plenty of dogs that are energetic one day and then find a spot under a bed and pass away as if they’re just done. I’ve known elderly people in my life who have stated “I’m gonna die tonight” and then pass away in their sleep. Idk it’s kinda bad ass and I feel like iggy would be a bad ass enough dog if he survived. Joseph had some sass and salt in him from his youth, slitting his wrists to save a baby without much hesitation heheh.

5:06- Most of the Crusaders have this historical/Tribal/ancient look that fit the long history of nobility they represent. The Fool being a mix of tribal and machinery provides him with blended imagery of the past which compliments the future.
Despite his braggy attitude and seeming like he didn't cared about anyone but himself, Iggy proved he had a soul who would throw away his life for the people and friends he loved
I would have NEVER guessed that Araki assigned Iggy's Stand with The Fool was not completely planned from the start. That is just amazing. Iggy is one of my favorite characters in the series and his fight with Pet Shop was arguably one of the best fights in the entire series. He managed to make a fight with two rather small animals this big epic showdown and really took advantage of the the fact that these animals are built differently from humans and have heightened senses to factor in along with their respective Stands.
Also the Fool card almost always has a dog in the artwork, which does makes the coincidence even funnier.
I think my favorite part about Iggy is how his design change from the beginning to the end

I LOVE Iggy! I have a Boston Terrier rescue and she is so similar in attitude… and other things 💨💨💨. Iggy melts my heart every single time he is on screen!
So funny thing. I have a dog and named him Iggy, after Iggy Pop of course. But I named him years before I started wathing Jojo so when I got to the part where Iggy is introduced I laughed my ass off, and naturally he became my favorite stand user of part 3
In all of his fights iggy was underestimated and truly showed just how strong and how resourceful he was being able to take direct strikes from vanilla ice.
His death in the ova Is probably one of the hardest things to watch through in jojo due to how brutal it is.
He legit is still breathing when vanilla ice is kicking him and by the time polnareff gets to him is spirit had already moved on.
In the anime he had a brutal fight against pet shop and came out on top still.
He may not have been with the crusaders for long but he truly had a heart of gold and was instrumental in the crusaders victory against DIO.
Iggy is one of the most underrated characters of all time his sacrifice for polnareff one of the best characters from part 3 was sad hats of to you iggy may your soul rest in peace

I don't think Geb would have been the Fool. I think there was a fight meant to bridge the gap between High Priestess and Geb that Araki changed last minute into Iggy.
IMO, the High Priestess fight is kind of anti-climactic as the finale for the Tarot half of Part 3. It wouldn't have surprised me if a longer mid-boss arc was meant to take place to end on a high note and set a bar for Geb to surpass.

The definition of What Da Dog Doin
Elemental based stands were always too powerful. Its probably why you never really saw them much past part 4 (to clarify, I mean free manipulation of an element, aka earth, water, air and fire).
I have Boston terrier Named Gracie. I was SO hyped when I saw the Iggy for the first time and cried like a baby when he died I couldn't think of anything other than my dog.

The automated captions actually helped for once. I listened to the beginning repeatedly and still thought he said Polnareff was a travelling lawyer until I turned them on and saw warrior. It still sounds like lawyer to me but warrior makes more sense so that's probably it.

Iggy became one of my favorite characters simply because he had this character about himself that you either loved him or hated him, but in the end, you couldn't help but feel for him
I had watched the anime, and so that's my experience with part 3. and couldn't help but cry watching his sacrifice. Later down the line, a friend of mine online started watching watching Part 3, when he got to Egypt, his first impression of Iggy that he relayed to me was that he hated him. I didn't say anything to him, but rather just looked at message, and with something of a smirk on my face, thought to myself "you poor bastard, you have no idea how much you're gonna cry". A few days later, we had a conversation of how truly great a character Iggy actually was. the understanding we gain from his fight with Pet Shop was truly one of those moments that you have to experience in order to truly appreciate the brilliance of his character
