Most people believe that EV Cars are much more cost effective than petrol cars, given the extreme increase in petrol prices. But this is where most people get it wrong.
EV cars are much more expensive than petrol cars, which people are willing to pay thinking that in long run, they will recover this cost easily because the running cost of EV is less than ₹1.
In this video we have logically explained whether or not EVs are actually cost effective given the current prices in India.

And We are forgetting one most important point additionally- what would be the cost of replacing the battery pack after the warranty given by manufacturers? EVs are not a viable option currently. Govt needs to give the same tax slab to hybrid vehicles as the EVs. 😀

Nexons base varient comes for 9.55 lacs on road. But that is for manual. If you are comparing with an ev atleast compare with petrol base automatic varient, which for nexon is XMA that comes for 11.5 lacs.
Nexon ev base varient is EV prime XM which comes for 15.4 lacs and has better features. On top of this you also get a tax refund of 1.5 lacs which comes around atleast 1 lac or more based on your tax bracket. So effectively your ev cars cost will come up to 14.5 to 14 lacs. Now this is a difference of about 2.5 to 3 lac.
So by your calculation if one saves 6 rs per km. One has to drive for 40k to 50k kms to recover cost . If you drive 600 km per month, roughly 15 to 20 km per day, you will break even in 5 to 6 years . Additionally you don't have mentainance heavy parts like clutch plate, engine, fuel transmission etc, so you will save atleast 30 to 40k per year on maintenance after first year.

By the time you recover extra amount spent as upfront cost, there is time to change batteries.
600 km is low..this is normal because of ice running cost people won't drive much..but ideally 1000 to 1200 km per month to drive around metro city with this u will reach break even in 2 to 3 year

Let's consider same model XZ +
Tata Nexon Petrol Will cost you around 13 Lakhs with RTO and all.
While Tata Nexon EV will cost 16 Lakh
So diff is of 3 lakh
if you ride your vehicle 20,000 KM the cost will be easily covered.
You considered Tata Nexon Petrol without RTO.
Infact some states provide subsidy so your EV will come for 14.7~15 Lakh

Nexon gets a warranty of 8 years on battery. Even if the battery gets damaged, then they will change those few damaged cells not the whole battery. If ur car has a damaged engine, do u change the entire engine?
It isn't you have to change it every 8 or 9 years the warranty period of battery is till 8 years. Ev battery can last for 15 years easily

Add the depreciation cost of the battery also. EVs have no resale value as battery will get degraded and require replacement after 6-8 years.

Agr petrol/diesel variant lia toh per day 15-20km (atleast) yani har din almost 2lt ka fuel, means 106*2 = 212/day,,,,yani 212*30= 6360/month,,,yani 6360*12= 76,320/yearly,,,,,aur gaadi agr 10saal chali fir 7,63,200 sirf petrol diesel ka, and this is with current fuel price, future me badh gya toh 8-9Lakh ka hisab lagalo and yes maintanence cost ka joda nai hai avi isme....💀

Nexon EV starts with XM variant at 15.3 L on road.
Nexton petrol XM variant is ₹10.4L on road.
And since EV is non geared, it should be compared with XMA version i.e. automatic which is 11.25 lacs on road.
Price difference 4 lacs and not 7.5 lacs as claimed in your ill researched video.
Running cost is petrol (mileage -12-13km/l) ₹8-9/km
Electric 1-1.5₹/km
Difference aprx ₹7/km.
To recover additional ₹4 lacs one has to run only less than 60 K km’s.
Most cars have a life of at least 2,00,000-250,000 km’s. Even if you don’t use it for that long it’s resale value will be much higher than that of petrol car.
So EV’s definitely makes sense.

Batteries are generally designed for 500000km which will outlive your driving life time. Plus you can sell old battery pack at decent price as it can be used as power backup

Nexon ev XM@15L on road approx and the equivalent petrol version is XMA which is approx 11.2L on road. The diesel XMA would cost around 14L I guess.
What about if you compare the on-road prices of top end Nexon variants of both EV and petrol? I bet the difference would be far too less.

You are totally wrong because I installed solar panels on the balcony of my apartment and now I can charge my Electric Sedan without money and the car and the solar panel set both will last for at leat 10 years. Means after spending some money I can enjoy hassle free, pollution free, smell free, vibration free life for 10 years. Even Servicing cost is way less than a diesel or electric 😁🤗
