You can learn to weld. I'll show you exactly what to do in my affordable online welding courses at courses.timwelds.com.
Love seeing real-life projects that homeowners can do, thanks, nice project
I liked the raindrops effect on the wood surface. Made it look rustic.
That’s an awesome desk. It turned out great. 🙌
Love the welding table.
I love DIY products. especially iron, wood and concrete mixed together.❤You well done.
Brilliant. Thanks for all the detail
Looks great!
Nice Tim! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great work. very organized and clean work area. It makes my OCD proud
Great video, Tim
Nice. Thanks for the videos.
Excellent work and very well explained. Hats off.
Great channel!
I learn so much off of these videos. Keep it up!
Really great video and desk, thanks for showing it
I appreciate this video.
Excellent. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
One advice from woodworker to metalworker. You did not account for wood movement in your top. You have to elongate the holes in the metal base and then screw the top to them. Otherwise, with wood expansion the top will eventually deform. Also, when you are staining the wood, you have to put stain on and then wipe it off in 10-15 min. Do not leave it overnight. Love your videos. Learning to weld for my furniture projects so I can combine metal and wood. You are one of the best instructors on CZcams
Yes, wipe on and off several times would work but darker stain would be even easier/faster
George, I'm starting the process of making my dining table, you said to elongate the holes in the metal, can you elaborate on that please, this is a metal worker winging woodwork.
Great tip! I’ll definitely slot the holes out next time. Thanks!
That was my thinking, too. I didn’t believe in the warnings about wood movement until it happened to me. Just oversize the holes and use a flat washer. Tim, as always, great videos - I learn from every one of them!
It also depends on where you live, if the temperature and humidity doesn't really change (like the PNW) you'll probably be alright for a few years. Its a bigger deal if you're using single pieces tops or wood that hasn't been dried etc. There's a channel Blacktail studio that goes into more detail about it, while yes its important its not crucial especially on something for your own home 🤷♂️
Looking nice desk
Good job Tim.... thanks for the tips as well👌👍
Thanks! Most of my work is on mechanical/structural stuff; it was fun to try some furniture.
@@TimWelds Hey Tim, is it possible to show your settings when shooting your videos? It sure would help us noobies :)
Awesome desk but I actually really liked the side with the dots that was really cool. Anyways well done!
Nice desk
no matter how many times I see this video, I learn something new from it.
I'd like to "like" several times, but CZcams will only allow 1 like per video.
Turned out really nice, I love the leg design!
Thanks!
You probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Isaias Raiden Instablaster ;)
@Rodrigo Braden thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Rodrigo Braden It worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account !
nice
Great project man
Thanks!
That’s a nice desk. I am a little odd but I kind of liked the side with rain drops! Lol. Nice job.
Thanks! I'm happy with how it turned out!
Tim you're the first guy I've seen use a scribe to mark metal. I use them all the time. Magic marker isn't precise enough for marking metal. How do you like your Evo saw? Great job on the table. 2 THUMBS UP 👍👍. consider me a subscriber.
Good looking desk! The angles make things much more interesting for me rather than just running everything straight. I’m doing a set of end tables for my family room right now and am using a trapezoidal tube steel leg design for the same reason - just more appealing to the eye.
Thanks! I was going to make it straight, but changed my mind at the last minute. Those end table sound awesome!
@@TimWelds Thanks! If they ever get finished, I think they will be. 😂
Tim that's a fine table. Are you able to share the plan for the whole project? Am in the process of making a study table for my wife. Thank you
How do I find a good source for metal like the square tubing you used
Hey, I know this is an old video but I am a fledgling woodworker wanting to dabble in metal work for projects like table legs of fish tank stands. I watched your entry lvl broad overview video and know I probably want a mig machine. I have also seen some of the miller stuff has easier to use settings but I'm kinda lost as to how much to budget for/what miller would be most useful... any reading/video recommendations beyond that entry lvl video? Ps: pre-stain is worth its weight in gold if you stain wood in the future
I tried welding some wood but couldn’t get an arc, had a firm ground clamp what gives
You have to use a stick of the same type as the wood that you’re welding. 😂
Awesome! Do you happen to have blueprints and a bill of materials? I am looking to do this project for my fianl project at welding school.
I have trouble seeing where I am welding, is there a way of being able to see the joint a little better?
What kind of cutting blade is that on the saw?
Another great video, Tim! Can I get you to make me one of these?
Thanks hun! Seems like you might already have something like it downstairs 😉.
What's the brand of that drop saw? Looks great.
What chop saw are you using? I'm looking for either a chop saw or band saw to break down lengths.
I use a 14" Evolution saw and really like it. It's a S355CPSL. www.trick-tools.com/Evolution-S355CPSL-14-inch-TCT-Chop-Saw-14787
I did a roundup of all the cutting tools I have in this video, which might help. czcams.com/video/mYpVoYTdbxY/video.html
Nice job. Did you make the chair too?
Nice.i kindly ask, what's the name of wood used
This gasless mig, pls share welder spec
Awesome build, are the triangles purely for looks or did you choose that design for stability?
Thanks! They’re just for looks. With tubing this size and thickness, it would be fine with rectangles or another shape.
@@TimWelds Awesome, thanks for the reply! Im on the process of building my first computer desk myself, it's quite long and I need it to be super stable and thus I was very worried about stability :D
What kind of metal is this ?
what is that welding tool?
👍👍😎👍👍
Thanks!
Basically this is the same thing they do at the factories in China making desks to sell in kits.
