I was fully expecting Bode to betray us at some point, but him being a former Jedi really threw me for a loop, I had to pause the game to process what just happened
I was immediately suspicious of how he talked he had "people" watching his daughter so when he stole the compass I was like yeah whatever but when he gorce pushed me I was thrown out a godamn window
@@Theblueportal98 tbh it made sense to me bc they did mention saw in the beginning of the game so I always figured it was them watching her. But I agree it still took me completely by surprise and I had to take a breather after
Same here.
The music just made the whole moment even more of a wtf moment than it already was
Me to
The fact that Cal gave this dude Bode so many chances even after being betrayed, shows how pure a soul he really is. But me? The second Cere died, is when I wanted to send Bode's soul to a galaxy far far away.
The instant he threatened (and then killed) Cordova, he was dead to me
😭
Yea despite the anger and hate he felt for him he didn’t want to leave his daughter fatherless but Bode was clearly not going to give up.
Vader killing cere made me hate vader more I mean he,s killed so many great characters.
My favourite thing about the game is how Kata never pleads with Kl to spare her father, she pleads with her father to come to her senses.
Saw the Bode betrayal from the moment he mentioned he had a daughter
Him being force sensitive caught me completely off guard though, great twist
it was like the Ash twist in Alien, a lot of people would've easily worked out that Ash was the traitor and allowed the Xenomorph on the ship, but most of them were caught off guard by Ash being an Android as well
I thought Bode would be a new Allie to Cal I didn't think he would turn
Cal is becoming one of the best written star wars characters and bode is a great yet unexpected villain.
Unexpected? It was so obvious he was a spy
They made him too evil, just felt a bit odd
I saw it coming since the first time on Jedha, I saw him then realised he hasn't done much since the coruscant, but he knows everything we've been doing yet hasn't helped at all
@@Moss_XO man I'm stupid, I rlly trusted that mf
@@steel2268 yeah, he was too friendly from the jump, always seemed to be at the right place too. Also talked a lot and was interested in everything. On top of that, when they were trying to escape in the first mission he pulled away some fighters and disappeared. That was a dead give away lol
Got to admit, Bode does look pretty cool with the blaster and Starkiller stance, the fact that he is voiced by Charles from RDR2 helps
I read "RDR2" as "R2D2" because star wars.
I'm not so sure but that's Admiral Rampart aswell
Does he? I dunno, between the clothes and the hair he looks about as plain in a star wars setting as you can get. Like if they modded an npc to act like a sith boss or something.
and wolf from sekiro
@@the305kidHe is also in Ghost of Tsushima.
Killing Cordova and causing what ensued made this so unforgiveable, after all that in the first game, following Cordovas path he dies to a needless betrayal. At least Cere got to go out with a fight against Vader himself
It wasn't needless. You could say it was necessary, to reveal how Bode survived Coruscant and how its always a mess for Cal every time he was out doing dirty with Gerrera.
Cere’s death was badass
@@benfrank9622 If Bode just wanted his daughter to be safe, he didn't have to tip off Darth Vader. The ISB had their own plan to track down the Jedi. He could have moved his daughter to Tanalorr, went back to Jedha in time for the ISB's attack, and helped them evacuate. By the time the Empire realizes that Bode betrayed them, he'd be long gone.
Some would inevitably die during the attack, but the Jedi would have a much better chance. If Vader doesn't show up, then Cere would certainly survive.
@@MCSPARTAN501 Be in mind that Bode was a Jedi. And Jedis are pretty much prone to their emotions. Fear is one of those emotions and he's feeling it all the time before the deal. You could say he succumbed to that fear and made himself a leash to it. In the end, that fear drove him mad till its too late for him to turn back.
It's just like that Breaking bad character, Walter white. He thought he was doing it for his family. Instead, he succumbed to power and drove him to madness.
@@MCSPARTAN501 it wasnt that he was worried about, remember after dagan fight Cal said he was gonna do something similar, essentially using tanalorr as a rebel base to fight back against the empire? that is what tipped bode over to betray Cal.
Can’t believe I’d ever play a game that gave me a panic attack great enough to give me cardiac arrest. The betrayal, Cordova’s death, the reveal of Bode being a force sensitive, Cal’s “death” with the Respawn screen, playing as Cere right after and fighting Vader until she dies. The entire 40 minutes I played this had me in complete shock with my heart racing faster as the mission progressed. By far some of the greatest writing & content I’ve seen in Star Wars took place in this mission
Right?! I was in disbelief the whole time
Same lmao
cardiac arrest? panic attack? you can use non medical words to describe shock and awe, you know
@@KaliahSheDevil you’re really just hating just to hate lol
Bodes betrayal was basically told to you before it even happened. The clues where he suspiciously wants to be alone after you kill dagan. Or the fact that he asked cal if he wants to check out the planet they are looking for but he declines which bumms him out. Me personally I was kinda expecting it from him sooner or later
I guess you could say.... this did not Bode well for Master Eno Cordova
I just texted the boys not to go to school tomorrow.
This one’s on you….
*this is a joke. Do not dox me*
Congratulations. You're grounded for 2 weeks for that pun. Go to your room and think about what you done.

On the day the game came out no less.
Old mate went from Charles Smith to Micah Bell real quick
He’s no where near what Micah is Bode is looking out for his daughter doing what he does because it’s what he believes is best for her Micah is a nihilist who only looks after himself
That godamn R A T
Small detail: I loved Cere’s reaction to Cordova’s death. Compared with what she taught Cal earlier - acknowledging his fear so he could deal with it, rather than telling him not to be afraid - it seems she retained all the good traits from the old Jedi Order (not getting attached to the point of falling to the dark side) and disposed of the bad. When Cordova died, she didn’t collapse into tears, she immediately let him go - even though she said she was really happy to have him back - and focused on the situation at hand.
I feel like Bode is what you get if you gave Boba Fett all the abilities of a Jedi.
No way. Boba would be twice as deadly. Because he isn't deranged and terrified, not to mention the fact he held his own against Vader without the force and his jedi kills fought back.
@@jackolantern147 well OBVIOUSLY it is a given that Boba would be much deadlier. I was just making a general statement. lol
Bode is what you get when you are a star wars writer. They can't make villains for shit. Never have bee. Able to make any good villains.
@@R.J.MacReady1982 But he is a great villain.
@iMati he's a terrible character. He was a snake the entire game, it was obvious. I'd have liked him still if he wasn't the final boss. He should have died before Dagan Gera and that other guy.
I do think it's very interesting how the games name "jedi survivor" at first makes it seem like it's talking about Cal surviving, then it becomes about Dagon surviving, until finally, we find out it also refers to Bode.
That's true. Every title of a story needs to be connected to the title. To represent what the story is about. It's sad that not everyone knows about this.
The truth, Bode always brought me bad thorn from the trailer. To begin with he was a mercenary, they are not well known for being reliable. Then he has the voice of Admiral Rampart.
well not all mercanaries are bad like boba for one lol
@@ladyriethegoldendelmo5441 well they kinda made him good just for the hell of it

What’s a crazy detail about this scene is at 1:04 if you look at Bode’s face, he’s very much dreading the alarm but he knows what’s about to happen and what he has to do
Second best plot twist in Star Wars history second to only "No, I am your father"
I saw it coming, what i didnt see coming was him being a jedi…
@@Derg2003 I'm pretty sure they are referring to the Jedi part, not the betrayal.
@@merlokden5844 both are great twists
Agreed, love how it’s a double whammy twist too. Traitor and a Jedi as well, wtf??
Doesn’t even come close to the original twist, you’re entitled to an opinion obviously but that doesn’t mean I can’t say it’s wrong.
I figured Bode would betray Cal, did NOT expect him to be a former Jedi tho
Node’s betrayal was the perfect red herring. The hints dropped convinced the player they already figured out the twist. With their guard down, Bode revealing himself as another JEDI SURVIVOR catches the player by complete surprise
Until this moment, I never really paid attention to Bode. But this just takes his character development into a whole different level and this is exactly what he needs to be significant in this game. Makes it a lot more personal for Cal too, not only giving Bode a chance to stand out.
Same here brother , i thought of bode being just cals other half two brothers protecting each other an when i saw all this unfold i just felt consfused an sad an it even now i still can’t believe it
Yea I was even shocked by this I liked bode at first him and cal were a great team it sucks he was on the bad side the whole time.
Its been a long time since a plot twist caught me so off guard. I will play a New Game+ and will look for hints I missed in my first playthrough but to be honest, that whole thing was so unexpected for me
Same lol. When Dagan died before ww got to Tanalor I was really confused and then this scene hit me

@@DarthBrohon Ragnarok was a good twist too
Now I know how people felt when general shepherd betrayed them in MW2
During the last dagan fight he says we already got one emperor that threw me off

I swear we live in an era where video games have surpassed films in terms of story telling. This series has been great

Holy crap ur right !
i really want that version of the blaster stance tbh
I'm currently on my second playthrough and seeing Bode alive was the same feeling I got playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the second time knowing what Micah did
I’m sure you figured this out already but if not, Bode and Charles from RDR2 have the same voice actor
I honestly like the twist woth Bode being a survivor
A Jedi survivor now turned rogue when he joined the ISB (Imperial Security Bureau) as part of the deal for the sake of his daughter and hid themselves from the Inquisitors.
Cal, Dagan and Bode are all survivors. I love how the game title can be referred to each one of them.
different paths that they chose. It must be heartbreaking for Cal to see that the remaining jedi...either died heroes, or lived long enough to see themselves become villains...@@MotherOfSorrows
I was half expecting Bode to betray us, but the force sensitive part dumbfounded me so much I played this game until 3 in the morning just to keep finding out what happened next. Of all the times Star Wars has a great story and it’s in an EA game of all places
Bode was an undercover Jedi before. Now he went rogue and worked for I.S.B - Imeprial Security Bureau after the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order.
Idk if most people had the same experience but but in the last hour leading up to his betrayal I had a strong sense he is going to do it
I thought they were foreshadowing his death
I called it after knowing Cal and Bode were the only two who made it out after the first mission
Once Cal said “Something’s bothering you” I knew
I don’t think a lot of us predicted bode being an order 66 survivor tho that was a great twist.
@@lilbubblegumleaks8104 I definitely didn’t expect the force push or lightsaber
Makes a lot more sense now when Cal said that, other than Cere, Bode was the best marksman he knew. Force-sensitives with blasters do tend to be quite effective.
Eno and Cal look like samurai with hairstyle and robes, which fits that that was one of the inspirations for Jedi according to George

I saw the betrayal coming (sort of) but when he used the force and pulled out a lightsaber I just about lost my shit. A masterful one-two plot twist punch
Cal should of noticed Bode stole Dagan’s lightsaber
@@NeoakiraIVWhen cal killed him
Cameron’s performance here (and in the game as a whole) was nothing short of masterful. I’ll confess I didn’t quite buy into his acting in the last game… but here I was feeling every second of Cal’s emotional journey. Well freaking done.
How he didn't win Best Performance is fucking astounding
@OvertheHedge06 have you played gow ragnarok? That was definitely Christopher Judge's year
When Bode showed up in the prologue and I first saw his name I said “well, this doesn’t bode well.” As lil joke for myself. Noticed a couple moments that made him seem a bit too insistent on being on Cal’s good side. Then this scene happened.
If they do do a third game to either continue or conclude Cal Kestis story, I hope they give him an apprentice that you get to train during the game in some capacity. I also wonder if it’ll take place 5 years after this one. Seeing how this takes place 5 years after the first game. Which would put up during the time of Rebels
I’m sensing God of War Atreus vibes

Playing as Cere after this had me so on edge. You just know that Vader is coming. There is no way that he passes up on a network of jedi smuggling jedi.
It reminded me of Bastila's line from kotor, "The Dark Lord knows we're here now... Malak (Vader) is coming."
The fact cere held her own was crazy. At one point my dumb self thought she killed him because I was so immersed in the fight. Obviously he was supposed to win though. Any time Vader is shown it’s either a retreat or a death sentence
It’s always an interesting dynamic when Vader shows up outside of the main movies because you know how his story ends. That makes him far more terrifying villain for the viewer because whatever is about to happen, they know that Vader won’t die
The betrayal was written perfectly. Yes i saw it after the second dagan fight but i was so ready to fight the second he shot cordova
one thing i would of done differently with Bode was give him a blue or green light saber he shouldn't have a red light saber he's not a Sith or inquisitor.
But he's embraced the Dark Side.
I think it’s got an orange tint. In canon I believe they are moving towards dark Jedi having partly bleeded crystals… I like the idea that it’s a metaphor for those on a conflicted path.
He's a rouge jedi just like Tauron Malicos. This is the 3rd rogue jedi cal has had to go up against.
It’s not red but even if it was, Jedi can bleed their lightsabers to make them red.
he picked up the saber of the one arm dude
I started the game thinking either Merrin, Greez, or Cere would die and that Bode would betray us but after we took down Dagan together I was like “oh nevermind he won’t betray us” and it just hit harder when he did then
This is the same guy who plays Charles Smith in RDR2. Crazy talented guy
The constant talk about his daughter made me expect a betrayal in the form of his daughter getting taken hostage or something and especially the way he acted and talked after getting the compass. Never would I have guessed he was a former Jedi.
Boda is like Sentinel Prime who betrayed his own allies.
Thank Christ I ignored and blocked anything about this game on CZcams before and during my play through, I was not expecting Bode to be a Jedi
Bode is basically the star wars version of joel from TLOU. Willing to do anything to protect his only remaining family
I find it funny that for Cal to survive, Cere had to block a huge explosion which caused the ground to glow red hot yet Cordova's body wasn't incinerated...
For fucks sake i was tryna to some research on how to get the wanderer outfit then this shit comes bruh
Exactly. Ruined the whole game for me.
I like how everyone knew Bode was going to betray Cal. He and Cal just met and he seemed a little too buddy buddy with him. Always supportive, always there and always reliable. Once he started talking about his daughter in their final bro moment I knew he was going to betray Cal. I think the devs knew this new character just being introduced was going to cause suspicion so they didn’t try too hard to hide the betrayal but hid another reveal that will throw people for a loop and that was him being a former jedi. Its honestly impressive a twist that on the surface could be seen as “well that was obvious” but they hid another twist in that that I don’t think a single player could have guessed along with making it work for the story.
Poor Cordova… he was so kind and compassionate to Bode, even after what the latter did.
Wait, I didn't know master Bra'tac was also a jedi !
Bode is yet another Rogue Jedi. This is the 3rd Rouge Jedi Cal has had to go up against.
He died free a jaffa
Does not bode well for Bode.
You know what tipped me off? You couldn't play against him in holo tactics. He was literally the only ally you couldn't 🤣
and here i thought Bode was a mandalorian survivor , let alone a Jedi....interesting
It’s a real shame because ever since the beginning of the game bode seemed like a nice and likeable guy then this bit changed everyone’s thoughts about him
More accurate title how Charles smith becomes a micah bell 🐀😅
I totally saw the betrayal coming, however him being a Jedi totally caught me off guard
The first thing I see on CZcams is this & i just bought the game… I just dont know why I thought it be any different ffs
When I got to work that arena I thought ‘oh he only has a gun this will be easy’…… then he got his lightsaber out
I didn’t trust Bode and knew he was a spy at the beginning. The way he acted throughout the game until the end was just off. But learning that he was a former Jedi that blew my mind and made his betrayal even more sad.
Bode's betrayle made no sense, his reasoning is so stupid.... "instead of letting my daughter have friends imma make her a loner"
The reasoning he gave to Cal once Cal found him in Nova Garon made perfect sense. He said himself that he was going to let Cal, Merrin, BD-1, Cere and Cordova come to Tanalorr, but he betrayed them when the Hidden Path was gonna come because he wasn't boutta let a bunch of random strangers jeopardize the only chance he and his daughter had of peace and being free from the Empire. He is a hypocrite, though, because he is the one that ruined it all, but that's because Bode's a dick.
@@palpatinesboi9549yeah he had a chance to set it right, he was in a bad spot sure but he betrayed the empire either way. If he had just taken the compass and fled I'd be able to forgive him but killing Cordova was unforgiveable, then what happened next made it all the worse

I wish we got to use the same stance bode uses, its so sick
Take a shot every time Cal screams ‘BODE!’
Came to find a clip of this because I was in complete disbelief and shock. I knew there was something fishy about bode, but him being a Jedi was just a complete shock.
My game froze right after the respawn prompt at the end of the cut scene. I had to close out of the game on my PS5, and when it restarted, I was playing as Cere. I had to look up this video to see if I missed something.
@5:11 That moment Bode pushes back, the music swells, and Cal’s expression matches ours… so good. (I mean, I figured Bode would double-cross because of how they built him up but didn’t see this part coming)
I always thought Bode would die as a sacrifice or something. Boy was I wrong. & him ended up being a force sensitive was such a twist just like Vader telling Luke he’s his father
i got so fucking mad when Bode betrayed Cal. was so pissed off and confused during the chase sequence it made my hear rate go up, never been so immersed in a game before in my life. Jedi Survivor was a 10/10 for me
Dude, you read my mind. I was so pumped full of adrenaline and when I was chasing him on the speeder, I was gripping my controller as if I was Cal. This is one of the few 10/10 games for me.

My reaction to Bode turning to the dark side:
“You turned to the dark side?! Are you MAD!”
As soon as you had that campfire scene and it was just him and cal, i then had the suspicion that he was up to something, moments later i was correct, call me a jedi master
the second the siren went off he gave me that look and i was like hmmmmmmm
I couldn’t help but laugh when on the speeder, I kinda loved Bode glitching around bc the game railroading him. Him being force sensitive caught me off guard.

Judging by his reverse grip use and his ability to deflect bolts away, Bode uses the Shien variant of lightsaber form 5 along with his blaster
Bode was the literal embodiment of the saying "I'd kill for my daughter."
I kind of was open thinking he would betray, because I never felt this connection like I did with the rest of the Mantis crew. I could peer into their past, but not his
literally made me gasp when Bode pushed me. i knew Bode was gonna die... just didnt know i was gonna be the one doing it
I didn’t know he was the final boss
i had the impression he had took a critical hit from a blaster to save cal, but this? was not expecting it.
Even if you thought Bode was gonna betray you at some point, there’s now way anyone would’ve expected him to be a Jedi. Great twist
I saw Cere's and Cordova's deaths coming right from the start of the game but I was shocked personally that Bode betrayed Cal. And on top of that he was a Jedi that survived.
Bro really pulled the starkiller fighting style
I knew this guy was going to betray Cal as soon as he said he had a daughter, I figured the Empire had her as a hostage or something but never thought he was a Jedi. Great twist, he was a scumbag though
I knew Bode was up to something but I didn’t think it went this far. When he shot Cordova I wanted him dead for the rest of the game.
