  • Yes, you can build muscle while reducing fat. Registered Dietitian Whitney English explains how the two processes work together.
When you exercise, your muscles break down. Eating a nutritious diet repairs and rebuilds them. Both exercise and good nutrition can help you reduce body fat, and the more muscle you have, the more fat you'll burn.
To optimize both your muscle gain and fat loss, pre- and post-workout nutrition is key.
Fuel your body properly by giving it the nutrients it needs both to perform well and repair itself. Before you work out, have a snack rich in complex carbs, like a banana. Post-workout, combine complex carbs and 20 to 30 grams of protein. Try a smoothie with frozen fruit, milk of your choice, and protein powder.

You won’t be able to build muscle if you’re not eating enough protein, so you need to start eating a bunch of meat. I was a vegan for three years, was great for a body cleanse and got me lean, but I lost a lot of muscle.

If you are already in good shape (20% body fat or less) it’s very difficult. However if you are obese like me (and about 40% of my fellow Americans) it’s actually not too hard. Cut your calories by 10%, start walking a couple miles 3 or 4 times a week, and strength train at least 3 days a week.

Weigh in the scale might stay the same, but he body composition of fat bs muscle might change. Im still around 200lbs but lost a couple inches off my waist in the last year. It's definitely harder and a slower process.

Having cellulite or fat on your body has absolutely nothing to do with. What do you need to do to gain muscle.
