You guys ever ice fish priest lake?? I’m from sandpoint and have fished a ton of lakes just never ventured to priest since pend orielle is my backyard lol. Just now getting in to serious ice fishing so any tips for ice fishing lakers would be huge! Thanks
Are mackinaw pretty line shy? I’ve got a decent amount of bass and walleye jigging with straight braid but I’ve never jigged for Macks. Do you think the mono leader really make a difference? The less knots I have to tie the better haha unless I’m using a swivel but I don’t wanna do that on a jig.
When was this actually filmed? Looked like a foggy morning and a nice day. Is there a "prime time " for Lakers at Priest? I spent 3 years working at the state park but never got to fish there.
Up at priest lake in Idaho I look for the biggest flats adjacent to the main basin of the lake. Mainly I use my fish finder to locate the schools then sit on top of em and start jigging but they always stay in those key areas most of the year
You have to let them burp that’s why every time you release them they can’t swim down to the bottom and usually end up dying :/ not saying it happened to you but just a thought you don’t want to throw them back with the air in their belly otherwise they can’t get back down to the bottom.
Yes.....most of those surface swimming fish will likely die because they can't swim back to the bottom.....bloated air bladders. Some could be snatched by eagles or osprey. What could help is an Oregon saltwater type clip release and a special rod/reel for just that purpose.
Nice day for catch’n. Thanks for your video. Good advice. I’m in Priest River btw
Nice looking fish!!

The lakers can definitely be line shy. I prefer to run braid with a 8lb mono leader about 4-5ft long
Not bad, I put a hurt on them twice jigging and once trolling this year... Always a great lake for some consistent action.

What kind of structure do you usually find macs?

Probably a stupid question... but can you eat those fish?
Oh absolutely
@@CLUMDOGOUTDOORS Are you allowed to keep those fish or does Priest Lake only allow catch and release?
My only comment is.... USE A DAMN NET! You hurt/stress the fish by jerking them up like you do
