    17 days is a long time but consider that when the World Championships started, the matches were WAY longer and matches really were marathons, AND they had to play unplayed frames!! And consider the prize money now. Back in JD’s day, it was a pittance and they played for almost a whole week in the finals!
    Ok, there are more players now and the standard and pressure is higher, but still, the prize money reflects that. I don’t know what they are complaining about. Also, the fans MAKE the game what it is, otherwise they wouldn’t get the sponsors. You can’t have the glory without the graft!! That’s what a world championship should be.
    The thing is when he’s gone the crucible wil still be there. It’s the birthplace of world snooker and should remain there. It outlasts the whim of one man’s comments or likes and dislikes. I would imagine Imagine in the world of golf The Masters is not enjoyed by some players but the history remains. You couldn’t play the masters at any other course.

    Forget history it would be nice if the top 64 could earn a decent living, if you are ranked 61 you can't, compare that to football or tennis, the game has to move on and make it attractive to talented players - if that means the World Championship goes to Dubai then great, a lot of nostalgia based comments on here from people living in the past

  • @andyhello23
    @andyhello23 Před 5 dny

    Its the world championships
    The hardest tournament on earth to win is the football world cup, and its the hardest sporting even to win by far in this world. Its the world cup
    Why would players expect world championships in snooker to easy to play in?
    Ronnie knows he is the only name keeping this sport going
    He should tell people how much money they pay him just to turn up at a tournament, and tell people why he takes the money and then complains there is too much, when he could easily not take the money and rest.
    To be the best in anything in this world should be hard, and especially in competitive sports
    Hearn fills his head with all nonsense, and he sees himself as a commodity, and sullivan is very very well played to play snooker, he is not doing this for free, and he exploits his position, like anyone in sports with a monopoly on attraction to the public.
    Just how much money do these people need?
    Sullivan must be paid fortunes to stay in snooker, just how much money do these people need?

    It's a shame that the greatest player to ever pick up a cue and has the adulation of fans can say how he wants to avoid them when arriving at a venue. What a clown. It's fans who help towards paying for the huge prize money these guys earn. Yeh, go to Saudi or somewhere else overseas and play in front of a handful of people but hey who cares when the Saudis pay you shed loads of cash. Hope Ronnie gets a cool reception when he comes out to play Crucible later in week
