    During the 60's, I ran onto the Apollo stage during one of Mr. Brown's FABULOUS performances (along with a bunch of other fans). I gave him a HUGE hug and was rightfully thrown out!! Dem were the dayzz, my friend! Sooo much FUN!!! I ADORE HIM!!!! :)

    There's no computer, no fancy technology nothing but soul music coming from the heart, it gets no genuine then that. Coming the heart and from the realty of city sheets . James Brown was the first pay the way for music culture , blues ,rap music, r&b music . The God Father of soul.

    music like this is gone. its sad. james brown was the original. there are some musicians that you can say "damn he really paved the way...." not james brown he stands alone, there was no one better and probably never will be. thank you for posting this! R.I.P. James Brown.

    Hey, saw this performance on a British made tv documentary broadcast in the late 80s.There's also footage of JB showcasing his Funky Chicken, Camel Walk & the Robot, while in the recording studio.RIP the greatest stage performer who ever lived!

    This video of JB has been one of my favorites for a long time. Along with Sammy Davis Jr. hosts Hollywood Palace 3-15-69 (5 of 6), where he is is introduced by Sammy Davis Jr. The tempo changes and tightness of the band in the medley that follows, are phenomenal. Watch the awesome, hardworking drummer.

    @speedsail11 - The while guy on trumpet is Hollie Farris, who was with Mr. Brown on and off from about 1980 to 2006. He was the band leader at times also, I met him backstage at 'My Father's Place', a nightclub in Long Island, NY, around 1980, after a JB concert. We waited outside for Mr. Brown to come out, and he walked out with Mr. Farris, saw me, and shook his head saying, "Hollie, this is the guy who has all my records".

    I was just thinking, the kings are about all gone now; Jackie, Marvin & Otis have been gone for years now, Lou, Barry, James and Billy have all passed just recently.......thank God Al is still with us.. Look at what we are left with today, it's sad what passes for talent these days.
