Glad to see this video is still around. Watched it around the time it was uploaded and it was a go to video for me for a long time. Today I was feeling nostalgic.
During the 60's, I ran onto the Apollo stage during one of Mr. Brown's FABULOUS performances (along with a bunch of other fans). I gave him a HUGE hug and was rightfully thrown out!! Dem were the dayzz, my friend! Sooo much FUN!!! I ADORE HIM!!!! :)
There's no computer, no fancy technology nothing but soul music coming from the heart, it gets no genuine then that. Coming the heart and from the realty of city sheets . James Brown was the first pay the way for music culture , blues ,rap music, r&b music . The God Father of soul.
music like this is gone. its sad. james brown was the original. there are some musicians that you can say "damn he really paved the way...." not james brown he stands alone, there was no one better and probably never will be. thank you for posting this! R.I.P. James Brown.
Goddamn this is one of the best songs I've ever heard, James Brown music continues to make us dance to this day, thank you Mr. Brown. Get ON you good FOOT!
Incredible artist, musican and showman. When you are dancing against the grain, it makes you more dynamic. If you flow, then you're not doing anything. - James Brown
Mr. James Brown. Mr Dynamite. Soul Brother #1. Mr. Please Please Please. The Hardest Working Man In Show Business. Thanks for the upload, Haven Covers. (I saw him in concert when I was in H.S., 'opened' for him years later.) RIP and God bless, Mr. Brown
Hey, saw this performance on a British made tv documentary broadcast in the late 80s.There's also footage of JB showcasing his Funky Chicken, Camel Walk & the Robot, while in the recording studio.RIP the greatest stage performer who ever lived!
Band is killin it, but that BASS player tho!!! GEEZ!!! James Brown's timing is all about the 1. Everything lands on the 1. It's why his songs are just flat out funky!
@@BBT609 Right, definitely not Bootsy. I'm not sure who is touring with him in that phase. Whoever it was...he was digging deep. Completely locked in with the drummer. James wouldn't have had it any other way I'm certain.
Listen, I also love a heavy metal music. But heavy metal makes me wanna die sometimes. James Brown saves my life. He is soooo full of life...He is a genious!
This video of JB has been one of my favorites for a long time. Along with Sammy Davis Jr. hosts Hollywood Palace 3-15-69 (5 of 6), where he is is introduced by Sammy Davis Jr. The tempo changes and tightness of the band in the medley that follows, are phenomenal. Watch the awesome, hardworking drummer.
Holy mackarel is that fast, and tight. Thanks for posting! That is one tight band. The bass player and horns may have needed medical attention after playing good foot that fast-
Ah, what a great day when with just the command of a few computer keys can land you back in time with James Brown. I only wish my husband would have lived long enough for youtube.
In the 70's James Brown was a real idol for the teens of the arab community in Paris suburb, whome I belonged to,although we didn't understand one word of english then.Simply,a great musician and a great singer.
Does any current music star or group have this kind of energy and presence on stage, let alone pull off a performance like this? No.............ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. Todays so called 'stars' pale to this.
He influenced the ideology of music, that could never die.... He came in the same way he left out, with a bang! Hell, he died on Xmas day, we'll always remember that!
@speedsail11 - The while guy on trumpet is Hollie Farris, who was with Mr. Brown on and off from about 1980 to 2006. He was the band leader at times also, I met him backstage at 'My Father's Place', a nightclub in Long Island, NY, around 1980, after a JB concert. We waited outside for Mr. Brown to come out, and he walked out with Mr. Farris, saw me, and shook his head saying, "Hollie, this is the guy who has all my records".
+Cameron Hamill - I like your comment...But I think he was not an entertainer...He just had a great fun himself...And he shared it with us. It makes me happy every time I listen to him. Thank you , James!
the amount of attention to tone by the musicians is incredible even on this VHS recording. thats wat i keep noticing more and more everytime i hear JB.
I was just thinking, the kings are about all gone now; Jackie, Marvin & Otis have been gone for years now, Lou, Barry, James and Billy have all passed just recently.......thank God Al is still with us.. Look at what we are left with today, it's sad what passes for talent these days.
Glad to see this video is still around. Watched it around the time it was uploaded and it was a go to video for me for a long time. Today I was feeling nostalgic.
James Brown had everything! The talent, the charisma, the bandleading, the confidence and he was one sexy machine especially how he dressed up.
Sounds awesome. The man was too much. He was raw and great, now everything is too calculated and sterile.
There's no computer, no fancy technology nothing but soul music coming from the heart, it gets no genuine then that. Coming the heart and from the realty of city sheets . James Brown was the first pay the way for music culture , blues ,rap music, r&b music . The God Father of soul.
The only man that can strut on beat and make it look natural. No one else can replace him or even pick up where he left off. R.I.P. James Brown
james is a true entertainer. i would love to have a dvd of his performances. very inspiring.
His walk is more entertaining than most stage performances. Never will there be another like him.
The level of energy in this performance is amazing.
I love this version!
happysmile6662020 Cocaine!
They playin' it but it's not coming out!

I love how he struts around the stage. Totally owns the whole place.
Man, what a great performer! Such a powerful stage presence!
Wicked funk
He is awesome, & the band is magnificent too
He is a dancing music machine...Mr Brown, a man ahead of his times...
Goddamn this is one of the best songs I've ever heard, James Brown music continues to make us dance to this day, thank you Mr. Brown.
Get ON you good FOOT!
The epitomy of soul....love James Brown.
I mean, the way the kick and the attack of the bass are married together after 1:28...funk perfection.
This kind of performance is the best kind, when you know the performers are having fun with it.
Too cold, wish this was louder. Seems like the hardest performance ever, legendary energy
JAMES BROWN THE FATHER OF SOUL !!!! THE GREATEST FOREVER......
Has there ever been a greater showman in music than the God Father? I think not.
The only guy I think of is Mozart...still not sure he was better than JB !
Not sure Mozart had the same level of the leg-work virtuosity )
Jana Chramcova nope..if Mozart was near the ball park he’d be Iggy Pop
Hot! Thanx for posting! Wish I could see him again...
Incredible artist, musican and showman. When you are dancing against the grain, it makes you more dynamic. If you flow, then you're not doing anything. - James Brown
Soul couldn't be a better word to represent what this man gave to music!
Brown
I agree - too many people are fooled by the Western world - this man was one of the greatest geniuses this planet has ever seen.
Best version! Faster tempo makes this an even more bad ass song.
The greatest entertainer that ever lived. What more can you say?
so fast and funky i loveit!!!

Me too! Had a copy on VHS. Long gone though, shame

"The One" the definitive Funk groove fórmula.
Who was the bass player in this? Ferocious.
@@Behine.DeChilis I'm trying to figure that out too. I know its not Bootsy
@@BBT609 Right, definitely not Bootsy. I'm not sure who is touring with him in that phase. Whoever it was...he was digging deep. Completely locked in with the drummer. James wouldn't have had it any other way I'm certain.
@@Behine.DeChilis to my understanding, its Fred Thomas. He recorded on the album so I'm assuming that's him! James calls to him in the albums.
RIP james brown you are an immortal and your music has touched the souls of millions. You are an inspiration and an idol. I FEEL GOOD JAMES BROWN!!
Listen, I also love a heavy metal music. But heavy metal makes me wanna die sometimes. James Brown saves my life. He is soooo full of life...He is a genious!

+Monica Blue yes indeed
The upbeat funkiness of the sublime James Brown! Thanks I enjoyed it.
The godfather once again proves, with class, soul and a great band, you dont need anything but a groove and talent to make it solid.
This and the 1981 Live at Montreux versions 💣
This clip is mesmerizing.
Just what I needed to hear... Thank you itz on the favourites today ! Aw! Oooh Dat darn knee!!

He is the greatest entertainer in the music history.
His music always makes me a slave of the rhythm.
Yeah happysmile, He says that his musical formula was "play each instrument like would be drums"..rhythm everywhere.

That is wise remark!! (´▽`)
