500,000 people in Central park for a free concert. No fights, no shooters, just everyone enjoying good music.
Yes !!°°°°°
No iphones, just listening to great songs and music
I remember watching on TV a few years later and i must of only been 8 or 9 then.
you are right, what a time it was,I was there
That's only because they weren't invented yet. Even the first PC was just on the market... Glad I lived my youth in those days.
Their harmonization is...surreal.

Guess what HI3 brought me here hahaha
Wut? HI3 ?
Err, let me ask, what's HI3 stands for? I just wanna confirm something.
surreal? fake it is! :)
@@Leirix61 How is their harmonization fake?
No autotune, just pure talent.
I agree with you
Oui!!! Yes!!!
was just talking to my mum about exactly this, scroll down and see it in the comments
Autotune is ... dislikable to put it friendly. Maybe there's a hateful boy deep inside myself, but good songs with great lyrics and meaning don't need that stuff. Even the harshest vocals are valuable if their idea or meaning is deep.
@@OSLP Agreed. The greatest singers have soul, not technical perfection.
Timeless song, sung by timeless singers. thank you, Simon & Garfunkel.
Timeless, yes, as it is a song several hundred years old
My mother was at this concert. She always tells me how it was the best night of her life.
Mine too! To good and old times...
I would like to go back in time just once to relive that night all over again. I proposed to my girl during the concert ( at the end of "Bridge over trouble Waters). We've been married going on 38 years now. How time has flown by... I just became a great grandpa.
Not when you were born?
clouden the kid maybe you were conceived during this song

Two singers, blending their voices in masterful harmony, and one guitar. So simple and so elegant. And hundreds of thousands of people, listening in appreciative silence.
There're other instruments, you can hear a bass guitar at least
and dat bass tho
Those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end.
and the guy playing the Synthesizer throws in some highlights every now and then. Very subtle, though.
Hidden within Hundreds of millions of comments and other videos that run the Gambit. Most not so elegant:)
A Masterpiece that will live forever... It's so hauntingly beautiful... The harmonies is like listening to Angels sing.. And it's LIVE
It’s already lived for hundreds of years prior as an old English folk song ✌️
Yes that s true,it has a timeless magic
Yes❤
My dad used to play this record. Scarborough Fair always my favourite. The harmony of their voices is astounding.
I used to sing it to my siblings, my children and those I looked after, my first boyfriend introdced me to it aswell as my elest brother
Imagine that the original songwriter in the middle ages never could imagine the impact the song would have through the ages.

As great as it gets . Didn't realize how unique & pure his voice !

This song dates back to 16th Century England.
@@garydunn3037 It does and - for me at least - when I Google _"Who wrote Scarborough Fair?"_ it still returns "Paul Simon" which is quite a big mistake for the world's biggest search engine.

When I was young, my mind was blown that Woodstock was almost 1/2 million people - and I regretted not being able to go. Then 12 years later, here I was in Central Park in an even bigger crowd. The concert was magical. I see the footage of the audience and it's moving to say "I was there". (over to the left just beyond that orange boom/crane). Peace & Love, for sure.
My greatest and most respectful envy, sir
😁
Aww I bet it was pure magic!! ❤
I Love This Song! The music is catchy and the lyrics are interesting!💗
Garfunkel’s voice is so clean.
There are no words to describe the beauty of their song.
It's not their song, Paul Simon just covered it, he didn't write it.
The song was written in England centuries ago about the fair in Scarborough, North Yorkshire
please this song is about 400 years old
@@TonyEnglandUK I know that. But they did a decent version, don't you think?
@@thomassimpson8276 Indeed they did, certainly my favourite version. I don't think it was deliberate on his part but he got into trouble by forgetting to credit the song's origins and including it on his album as if it were his own work.
@@thomassimpson8276Their cover is beautiful but the lyrics are not theirs and even the arrangement was put together by Martin Carthy who taught it to Simon
I love that they aren’t singing over one another. A true harmony. Beautiful.
Hello Julie, that’s nice to hear from you
Is this your favorite song ?
can anyone watch this without tears? can you imagine being in the audience when this song began??
I would want my guitar, so I could play along.

The harmonies in this song are some of the most intricate I have heard in a duet number. They both trade off on the harmony part and that takes special skills and these harmony parts are DIFFICULT.

Try to find the version of this they did with Andy Williams on his show. That's even more amazing.

@@cbennett196631 ....chill out.
@@cbennett196631 he’s right. I do it daily. An acoustic and 4 track and bam! Done!
The music biz hated having to depend on talented people, who were hard to control, so they set about manufacturing their own (fake) talent that they COULD control. Unfortunately for everyone, the quality nose-dived, but hey - the biz execs were happy for 5 minutes. Then they wanted MORE.
It turns out that most consumers are driven by marketing, and can't even recognise quality when they see it.
These days, producing quality is considered bad business. They want people having to replace their products regularly, not maintaining them over a lifetime like it used to be.
This sorry state of affairs will continue unless morons stop buying their substandard shitty products.

So true 💜 (o^^o) 💜
Dare I say it will remain so for millions of we humans, through eternity.
And even crazier that it was written and sung in medieval times, giving centuries of enjoyment
Art was on CBS Sunday Morning show a year ago. Really good 15 minute interview. And towards the end, the gal asked him if he and Paul were on good terms.
And Art said they hadn't spoken in 4 years.
And he said, "Paul, if you are watching, you know my phone number."
Very sad they can't get along.
They made up later it seems. They've been spotted together at baseball games and stuff.
@@neelparekh3448 that was many years ago when they'd attend ball games together. As of last summer, Art said in an interview that they still hadn't spoken in many years but Art wants Paul to call him because in his own words "it's been awhile". Art really misses Paul but it doesn't seem to be mutual. Paul seems to like things the way they are and is in no hurry to make up. His loss.
Paul Simon sad to say is a man consumed with jealousy torwards Art and also self loathing. Tragic really how one can be so gifted in one aspect of humanity ( music) and yet consumed by his greatest flaw (covetousness).
The reason that they are not on good terms is that in an interview in the „Telegraph“ in 2015 Art called Paul an idiot, jerk and monster. He never apologized for this statements he had made in public. I really understand Paul that he currently does not contact Art.
Still one of my favorite concerts. True magic.
