  • Welcome to "Metal Detecting Panonnia"
    After a longer break, due to weather and some private mathers, I was able to go out on the field again, to spend some time outside in the nature, and maybe with some luck find something nice!
    As You can see, luck was on my side, and I was able to find some really cool and historical items; medieval silver, roman bronze coins, small and BIG, some newer coins and one really beautiful roman relic; fibula/brooch, so I hope You will enjoy this video, if You are history fan like me!
    Thank You all for 1000 subscribers, the amount of Your support is unbeliveable to me, and I hope I will be able to continue find nice stuff and share it with all of you in the future! THANK YOU ALL!

    What a day!!!! 1000 subscribers!! Many more to come i am sure! ..First, sorry for your loss, I am glad you spent time with your family... the finds were still there waiting for your, and were they ever! Super rare fibula-very rare style, 500 regular fibulas to one like that. then STUNNING Sestertius of Antoninius Pius, the details & patina!!! WOW-that is an incredible piece!! ... that was lost FRESH! did you say this is not your area of interest??? that cant be...That must be an incredible feeling to be the first person to hold that that coin in thousands of years, and think what it has been through, and who handled it, how the brooch was lost, etc.... The last coin looks like Valentinian I 364-375 ad, with the legend DN VALENTINIANVS PF AVG, the reverse is the emperor standing, holding victory on globe, and a labarum, legend looks like RESTITVTOR REIP with SMAN mintmark? What a great way to start the year! -Mr Alex

      I have to agree with You sir, some of these stuff are really epic pieces of history and to find them and think about them is great joy for me as guy who loves history.. as far as "not my interest" part: don't get confused, I love find stuff like these and thrill when I found sestertius can be heard in my voice, and not my interest part comes in term of deeper studyng or collecting these coins and items, where I dont collect roman coins and I dont learn about them in deep, I was collecting 18,19th century coins long before I start to metal detect, same goes for militaria of WW2 and yugoslavia wars, theae are mine main passion, and like I said I love history and history items all the same, but to some of them I give more attention and love.. hope this make some things clearer.. all best to You Alex, stay tuned to the channel!

    So sorry about your loss
    And wow about your finds, that Antoninus Pius Sesterius was a killer, 2 quick advices :
    1- try to find a solution for the wind
    2- plz plz plz be gentle while cleaning coins especially silver , never rub silver coins, use a special juice like the foofoo juice on the hover boys channel
    Thank you about your great content, keep it up ;)
    Cheers from Algeria

      Yes I agree with you with both number 1 and 2, as for number 1, some sponge is not an option because I have small camera with flip screen wich is in the same time ON and OFF (flip the screen camera turns on, close the screen and camera shuts down) and micrphone is near the screen, so if I put sponge for wind elimination I cant close the screen and turn of camera, and to put it every time before recording with muddy gloves is bit pain in the ass.. as for number 2 I also agree, and i try to be gentle to the coins, in order to record them live as many times as I can for better experience.. all best to You!

    Hi comrade! 6:00 correctly attributed; the style is of Siscia mint; the fibula is a very rare type I think. 13:00 Divus Claudius Gothicus, died 270 AD, hybrid (unofficial) antoninianus with a standing godess (probably Diana with bow) in reverse (this coin is very rare, probably unique and unpublished). 15:23 Maximinus Daza as Caesar, quarter nummus ("1/4 follis"), Siscia mint struck around 303-305 AD; scarce & nice; the Licinius could be Alexandria in Egypt? (SMALA or something like that in exergue?) in which case an unusual find! The 25 para is a bit scarcer than the silver ones! (actually your country was still called "Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes" in 1920, I think "Yugoslavia" came a bit later). 21:57: WHAT AN AMAZING COIN to be found in this quality loose in the ground! And I love that apple-green patina! Here is the full data of your coin: Antoninus Pius, sestertius, Rome mint, issued in AD 146, obv. as you described, ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP (Pater Patriae) TRP (Tribunicia Potestate). Rev. (around) COS IIII, (across) PAX AVG; Pax (Peace) standing left, about to set fire to a pile of arms. Cohen 594; RIC 777; BMCRE 1698. Congratulations for a wonderful find and for your well-deserved 1,000 subscribers!

      I was not sure for some of these coins, sometimes is hard to spot small differences if you are not into it 100%, but lucky for me, there are great people like You wich are like walking encyclopedia of knowladge of coins and thank you for that! Yes you are correct about country name, but I use term yugoslavia because it is easier to use this term, then the long one.. I actually have some of those 25 para in good condition (not from the ground) I will send you the email so you see them. All best amigo, hope you are well!

    I believe that at 27:00 the coin portrays Magnentius, an usurper against Constantius II. It's a veeerry scarce issue, so you might've just won the lottery, finding one with as much detail as that metal detecting, my friend ;)

    Nice video! I wish there were metal detecting spots like that where I am lol. That coin you found at 13:35 is an antoninianus of Claudius II Gothicus, but it's actually a hybrid of a posthumous issue with the DIVO CLAVDIO obverse and a lifetime reverse; probably PROVID AVG (I can see a globe at the feet of the figure)

    • @MD_Panonnia
      @MD_Panonnia  Před 2 lety +1

      Well, to be honest, if You like me don't have calm hand for cleaning old coins, one of ways is to wash them in destiline water (depends on the material of the coin), but in most cases is better to leave it to the experts if Your goal is to preseve it and keep the history on him. cheers
