Better than the Stella? The Shimano Exsence is AMAZING

  • Join me as I unbox and get to experience the brand new 2021 Shimano Exsence. I have used many higher end reels in the past, including the Shimano Stella. The Exsence is comparable to it in every aspect, and even possibly better. I had lots of fun doing this video, and I hope you will enjoy it too.
    More reviews of the Exsence in action coming soon!

    Great first comparison.
    I have two stella's and you are correct- they feel like they were made for more heavy duty applications.

      Yup, my thoughts exactly. I actually got the chance to fish the Exensce and a Twin Power FD (which is very similar to the Stella) side by side the other day. They felt quite different, and the start up inertia, overall weight of the reel and "sensitivity" were noticeably better for the Exsence.

    I’d really like to see a follow up from your first video.
    Guessing you’ve tried the reel by now, and I’m dying to see how you felt about it.
    If possible it would also be great to see some videos of you catching some fish with it to see it in action :)
    Thanks!

    So where does a Vanquish stand in the current lineup? I am a bit confused as it seems it overlaps with Exsence.

    • @The-Fin-Factor
      @The-Fin-Factor  Před 2 lety +2

      The Vanquish remains the best finesse reel in the current lineup. Lightest reel, lowest startup inertia, lowest drag startup, etc. By contrast, the Stella is quite rigid and relatively heavy when compared with the Vanquish, as Stella has an all metal body and metal rotor. The Exsence lies between the two, it's stronger than a Vanquish (but also heavier) and more finesse than a Stella.

  • @davidvanmaanen-icperch2797

    Exsence or Vanquish?

    • @The-Fin-Factor
      @The-Fin-Factor  Před 2 lety +4

      It depends, the two reels are very similar. Exsence is a bit heavier and sturdier, it has a stronger metal handle and a stronger drag. Vanquish is a bit lighter then the Exsence with less resistance and is more finesse oriented. I personally chose the Exsence because where I fish I oftentimes catch large fish too so I appreciate the extra strength. But other than that, the two reels are virtually the same.

    • @The-Fin-Factor
      @The-Fin-Factor  Před 2 lety +2

      @@davidvanmaanen-icperch2797 You're welcome! Yes, I have fished both, and they are extremely similar, just feel a bit different. The Exsence feels a bit more sturdy, you can tell the difference between metal and carbon handle. Vanquish does have a little less resistance though.
      One didn't feel more expensive than the other, although I personally think that the quality of the paint on the Vanquish feels more refined than the simple matte black, more minimalistic look of the Exsence.
      It really just comes down to personal preference.

      HG stands for High Gear and XG stands for Extra High Gear - which are the speed that your reel retrieves.
