Thanks for this, brings back memories from my time at Sunderland Polytechnic 1986-89. Obviously a lot of changes. I still recognise much of the locations. I miss Sunderland and the people.

Yeah, it's changed a lot in feeling, but it looks very similar I imagine.

this is lovely to see, my mum and dad had a pub in Silksworth when we were kids between about 87 to 90. they'd not long built the bridges and travelling around then was dirt cheap 10p from the ski slopes to south shields or to the metro centre or into town. lots of memories of Farringdon comp and southmoor comp and hanging out in hendon. most of all, the coastline is the most beautiful so dramatic and utterly gorgeous. you dont do bad beaches in the North East!!

I lived here for 6 years. Studied at Sunderland University. Used to play squash in Crowtree Leisure Centre. Have so many memories. So sad to know that Crowtree Leisure Centre has been demolished.
I was just mentioning the squash courts and the five-a-side courts behind the massive curtains today to a friend.
Sad indeed, but hey, at least we've still got.....erm....... Blandford Street 😐
I played in five-a-side court from 2003-2006. Sadly no good camera fones were at that time so no videos or pictures.
Did plenty of swimming & aerobics in the Crowtree leisure centre, l also lived above the Bridges shopping centre from December 99 until January 2015.

Jesus, What has happened to Sunderland...It's a ghost town...1985-1990 this place was alive.
