The curious case of Asafa Powell.
Coming in 3rd to a Theater near you.
Imagine being born with ALL the physical tools, fast twitch muscles , incredible strength and the Perfect height to dominant any human in the 100m.
But for all of the physical advantages he possessed, he never had the Emotional or Mental strength to match.
And you ask any pro athlete , in any sport, and they will tell you that success comes from 90% Emotional and mental strength.
He could flat out RUN ... in the Heats. But don't bet on him when all the chips down, unfortunately he never could rise to the occasion.

@@willstuart4504 He should have at least taken Gold in Athens 04, Helsinki 05 (notwithstanding his groin injury) and Osaka 07, Silver in Beijing 08 and Bronze in London 12 (again, sans injury) and Beijing 15 (given his early season form that year, he could have walked quicker than 9.92). On the 36.84 relay team, he could have pushed them to 36.5. Also if he took the 200m seriously, he could have picked up some other medals. And he should have ran more indoors at his peak and taken Greene's 60m WR.
Of course, if he had the competitor's mindset and better physio, this would have all fallen into place.

Powel is a talented sprinter with a great start. His major weakness has always been not enough training for speed endurance, which is why he was getting dropped so often, and a lack of fighting heart. He should have been much better...it's almost a pity.

Nice fella Asafa Powell, but he's got to be one of the most no-heart athletes of all time. Crumbles every big occasion and much worse he's just given up mid race multiple times when he thinks he's beaten or it's close. Incredibly bad example for the Jamaican kids, lucky Bolt and Blake came along.

We always love to see a fast race among men. 😢
And l have many races before this and many other after 🎉
    To be truthful.
    All athletes are human beings.
My point is the favorites to win the race should not be next to each other.
To be fair they should have between them 3 lanes apart.
This way each athlete is sprinting his own race.
This would be the ideal and fair race.
    Remember Justlin Gatlin.
He got that chance and was able to win Husain Bolt in Rio.
Because if he was next to Bolt , you know who the winner would be. 😊
