I just bought this same camera yesterday. I too was surprise on how small and light it was. I'm new to DSLR's as well. I'm looking forward to learning the DSLR world.
How do you like it so far? i'm planning to get the D5500 also! just torn between that and T6s since it has the preview in the live view for canon

+DIY Creators - Build Something Yeah, they can be pricey, but a 55 to 200 or 300mm lens is probably quite useful in a variety of situations. I'm a novice, but I've managed to capture some decent landscapes, portraits and macro shots by abusing a 55-300mm lens I now own. The bokeh on some of the portraits taken with the zoom lens is quite spectacular.
same i have the 18-55 and 55-200, the bokeh at f.5.6 200mm is spectacular, who needs a 15k lens for a little bokeh?

And don't listen to people who say you can't use old lenses on this camera body, you can - you just have to shoot in manual mode.

I don't have any experience with canon cameras but from my research Nikon takes better photos and Canon takes better videos.

Oh! Top tip for noobs :) to see your settings change the images on the LCD ("live view") you need to go into the settings and select "manual movie mode". Until you do that, the LCD screen will always stay the same brightness and depth of field etc..... and drive you crazy :D

Nikon is a bit more expensive but its better
it depends on the lenses, ive found that recently the nikkors are going pretty cheap. especially the lenses that pair well with this camera. a nikkor f1.4 50mm is $120 a nikkor 55-200 is under $300 (i got mine with my bundle for cheaper) nikkor ets expensive when you want a focal length over 300mm or below f5.6 for telephoto. most people dont need those anyway. 200mm is all the average person needs

I only have experience with the D5500 so I couldn't give you a fair comparison
DIY Creators can you make a comparison video of both of them? :p
from what I found the canon 750D better for video much faster and better focusing during recording. Nikon d5500 has better quality of pictures. It has also almost double battery life

Yes i had the same problem as well but i figured it out. Its a setting. When i get home later i will tell you how to correct hat.
