    Charcoal is pressed wood particles that have been "gassed off". It will certainly burn in your gasifier stove as it wound in any container, but it won't gasify.

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  Před 6 měsíci

      Very true, it will not gassify but it turns the woodgas stove into a hell of a small charcoal grill...

    Th is has been a big question for me also. Kind of ironic that it is a prepper from Florida that presents it. Way too go, fantastic presentation, a wonderful door of opportunity for the science of carbon, one of earths great wonders

    I put charcoal in my Firebox stove all the time.....Usually, just a base layer underneath the sticks..Works great for sustained heat.

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  Před 5 lety +2

      It does! It is a great base to a fire in a small stove and you only need a couple of briquettes to last a long time...

    Check out the BBQ section at Wally World, Home Depot, any store that sells pellet smokers. Can always check Amazon too. I attacked my legs to the bottom of the soup pot. That way they can swing up and down. I woke up to 27 BELOW this morning and had to drive an hour to have a procedure done on my back. The truck -32f in a few spots. Great video as always.

    I believe too much heat is escaping from your pot stand. I think a windscreen around it or a solid pot stand made of sheet metal with large holes around the very top would improve your effective heat on the pot.

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival

    Very cool Matt, I have wondered about using a bag of wood pellets in my stove at the tent location. Even a bag od charcoal is light to bring in if I had too. The ash would be the biggest mess. Anyway Mr. it;s hot out there, we got to a high of -24c today just the same as yesterday. Cheers Matt and have a great day and a Happy New Year.

    +78 F for Matt in Florida, -15F for Sean tonight in Canada. I tried charcoal and wood pellets one time, but it was below freezing up here, and everybody started doing pellets, so I never posted it.. Heat output was low for pellets in my stove, but they lasted well. I wonder what a combo of the two would do? Thank you for the video, Matt

    This is very interesting, I just got 2 solo stove campfires (2 for 1 sale) - and it eats wood fast! :D I wondered if i got a few briquettes of charcoal, if it was hot enough to really boil? Your's seemed right there but not really boiling yet. Charcoal seems long lasting but not as hot as twigs and sticks. I want to check out charcoal and maybe wood pellets (maybe mix of all) ... I saw another video that said wood pellets were way too hot and uncontrollable ... whaddaya think? Nice video!

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival

    Did you try it with no feet, or did you just assume the feet would help? I am very curious if they made a difference because you already have air holes at the bottom. Also every charcoal video I find people are packing 8-9 briquettes in, when really you do not put that much wood in, I wonder if 2-4 would get you the gasser effect with secondary combustion.

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  Před 5 lety

      Yes I did. I put the feet on for a little more air flow to see if it would gas but it did not. I also tried it with it about half full. The charcoal does not give it enough umpfff to create the wood gas effect but it still works great for cooking and gives off virtually no smoke.

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  Před 6 lety
