  • A member of Kenya’s greatest generation, Tabitha Gachambi wa Maina from Murang'a has seen it all. She has seen a colonised country, and then a country ravaged by the war for independence, followed by a country that is ruling itself and has seen six decades of independent Kenya. Like all the veterans from the Mau Mau era, her reminisces are rich in contextual insights and unparalleled wisdom as she traces the historical architecture of a colonised society, revealing the nature of the social hierarchies of that era, and capturing in a thrilling fashion the nitty-gritties of the context of our liberation struggle. Here and there, she breaks into revolutionary song, transporting the listener to a more heroic past, to an era where the material conditions of this country required a spiritual transformation of the people into the heroic form meet for the assignment of the hour. She is: a Mau Mau veteran of immense historical value. #maumau #maumauchronicles #colonialkenya #kenya #uhuru #dedankimathi

Very good work. Hearing these stories is very informative to the current and future generations. Old is gold. It is also a chance for our seniors and heroes to share their experiences, mostly painful but it is therapy for them as they debrief. Keep reaching out to as many as you can while we are still with them. Thanks

I salute these women and men, boys and girls whom until now we still not know the pains they underwent to give us the laughs that keep us free today.
May we who remain pick up the songs, voice up their dreams and let them know we are proud of the stand they took, humbled by what they went through......
we will never forget the true story of our freedom
