  • Just 25 minutes from Port Lavaca, Texas, is a 1.5 mile long stretch of drivable sandy beach on Matagorda Bay called Magnolia Beach. This was a great find as we continue our travels eastward through southern Texas.
Dispersed camping is allowed on this beach for a maximum of 15 days within a month's time span, unlimited, and at no cost - free. There are public restrooms, showers (cold), potable water, picnic areas and casitas for the use of ground tent campers.
During our stay here, we experienced differences in weather ranging from warm sunny days in the 70's to windy cold days with low's below freezing. Weather got so severe that we took up a fellow Jeeper on his offer to take shelter in his fishing cabin in Indianola. Huge debt of thanks to Trey Franklin for his generosity and kindness!!!
