Loved that he mentioned sticking your jaw out to access the upper register. I just recently started doing that and it’s changed everything. It’s going to take a while to harness it but my range went from a strained high Eb on a good day to effortless G over high C over night. I wouldn’t worry about sound immediately. Just stick with it. The discouragement I heard early on in my playing career caused me to abandon it. I wish I hadn’t.
