“He will now answer any question you ask him.”
Damn, STEM...
"ask any question you ask him"??

You can't even quote the line, can you?
Sorry everyone for the heinous grammar mistake I've made. My lynching will be this Saturday at 8.
@@ohyeayea68 no Problem, well gladly show up
this movie should of been a way bigger hit, its so weird how it went so under mainstream radar.
I never seen commercial from it lol
greed power same
just like john wick 1
The biggest flaw this film had was a crap ending. I'm sick and tired of these idiot screenwriters who think that it's somehow fallen out of favor with the sci-fi viewing audience to have films that end on a positive note. There's way too many sci-fi films now that have highly negative endings for no reason whatsoever. With films like LIFE (2017) it makes perfect sense to have a negative ending, but with this type of film all a negative ending does is piss off the audience to the point they forget the film even exists. I liked Upgrade overall, but never recommended it to anyone because I didn't like the ending. If I don't like the way a film ends I don't recommend it to anyone.
Ok
"While I am state-of-the-art, Grey, I am not a ninja."
"Dammit, STEM, just let me have this one will you?"
Wait a second... 🤨
Grey... Ninja.... 🤔🤔
Grey Ninja....... Fox?!
Hahahaha
I like when Grey tells stem to stop slicing him up, he doesn't the first time. It could be a hint that stem would turn on Grey and stop using his commands to control him.
It was an illusion that Grey had control over STEM all along
It’s disturbing to think that he turns into a living corpse considering the AI takes full control of his brain. It’s a haunting ending
And a very daring one. I love that this movie takes an overused concept and does something different with it.
@@byronsenior6499 it’s a conclusive ending too yet also leaves it to the imagination what will happen next unlike some recent major movies where they abruptly end it.
@@strafer8764 Yup that's what I love. Not knowing what STEMS further goals are as well as giving Grey the best ending he could have is part of what makes the ending perfect. For that reason it's one of the few movies I never want to have a sequel.
He isn't a corpse he stuck in a infinite tsukiyomi
@@strafer8764 it was either that or spend the rest of his life as a quadrapeligic. Poor grey
I just love how he, "gives" the knife to STEM. The details in this movie are wild!
“STEM, ENOUGH “
[You have full control now. He will answer any question you ask him.]
“(Gagging) ...thanks...”
In a sense, STEM was a Ninja; he was working subterfuge in the background, and playing everyone, including his creator, for fools.
Not exactly what a ninja is since they were secret agents and mercenaries in feudal Japan that carried out espionage, assassinations etc all with methods that were seen as honor less by samurai.
What he is, is a calculating tactician, his every fight move and general plan is a series of calculation and most likely scenarios.
@@thodorosxanthopoulos it worked in secret- like a spy; did it without honor; carried out assassinations; the only box that wasn't clicked was the feudal Japan one. Ninja, a loose interpretation, but one nonetheless.
Ninja actually means “Silent Assassin “ hardly silent with all those witnesses and screaming going on
The ending is brilliant because it makes you recount every confrontation STEM had. You think back on those fights and wonder 'Maybe the bad guy should've have won there". But you don't know for sure. Which 'bad guy' is worse for the future. The 'upgrades' or STEM.
@@Englandsbestlover "silent", in the sense that they didn't know who or what was pulling the strings , and doing the killing. And now that it's taken over the body completely, it can work with impunity and secretly, *like a ninja*
When HAL 9000 is incorporated into your body.
I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't come up with a good response to your great post.
Best description of what this movie is
Hit this man with "good cop bad cop" all by himself.
LMAO true 😂
This film, is everything "Venom" wasn't, but wished, it could be!
Very True. The next one seems more self aware but that’s a great comparison.
They will never get venom right just like every spiderman after Tobey Maguire fox is famous for ruining movies
@@MegamanTheSecond Tobey Maguire spidermans are a meme, if you genuinely think they're good you actually have terrible taste in movies.
@@generalreign3483 has blessed us with his superior opinion. Praise him. We got a real Ebert here.
people fighting over taste in movies. its not like white and black and right or wrong. its just different opinions .
"Look at this, Gray.". Interesting line when you know how the movie ends.
yeah damn
That ending was the best ending I've ever seen in a movie, i got chills
Dude this scene is insane, i almost take it as what it must feel like to have violent paranoid schizophrenia...just takes over your mind and you wakeup after
1:18 Bartender, get him a cranberry juice.
What, are you on your period
departed
your mama was so nice to me
What is it, your period? 😉
I see you're too a man of culture
STEM has issues 😂😂😂
Well it’s an AI so it has no capacity to ever feel an actual emotion. Which is scary if a machine were ever to be fully conscious as emotions could only ever be simulated to the point of authenticity, but still it would not be true emotion just a mask
@@dudemanbroguy3464 there are people who dont feel any emotions too.
@@gavinderulo12 no there aren't, there are people who don't feel same emotions as everybody but everybody has some kind of emotions.
@@DaddyOKaboom well no there are people who genuinely feel barely anything like psychopaths/serial killers
@@kennethha416 you are in wrong, psychopats can feel alot, they just don't have same feelings and values as you. Serial killers also - that's why they kill, they feel alot of emotion when they murder. They just don't care as much of death as regular people do, so they look like they have no feelings to the rest of the society.
I like how the light is cast onto his face. Its kinda a visual metaphor for Grey and Stem controling the body.
Nice! In the final scenes, it's dark on one side, and red on the other :D
The use of lighting in this was excellent, when STEM took over Grey to cut up Tolan's face, Grey's face became red, purple, then blue. Meaning that currently STEM in control of Grey, but not completely. It then changes back to Red and Blue when STEM gave back control.
"While i am state-of-the-art, Grey, i am not a ninja"
It's just an expression chippy
3 million dollars for this gem of a movie. Hollywood can't make a decent movie with ten times that.
i like how when he asks for stem to take control he faces towards the red light but when hes in control again hes back to facing the blue light. some nice depiction
this film is brilliant wtf
It pisses me off how it was slept on people dont know a good movie when they see one
They could've hired Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek TNG) to be the voice of STEM and lines like "While I am state-of-the-art, Gray, I am not a ninja" would've been even more perfect.
oh man, this movie would of been huge if they had got Data as the voice!
I liked stem’s voice
I have to disagree. That would have taken too much attention away from this film and it would have felt like a gimmick.
No they literally couldn't, due to the fact that this movie was made on a 3 million dollar budget.
@@Orcawhale1 Spiner was in a Happy Madison movie. No disrespect to the guy, but I don't think he commands the biggest paycheck in the world.
At various points in this film, I laughed, I cried and I sat transfixed in awe.
“While I am state of the art, Gray, I am not a ninja.”
I love this film already
This movie needs to be noticed more. It's so damn good.
Morgan Freeman:
*He did, in fact, use the knife.*
They should make a spin off called Upgrayyed
Shut your mouth!! Lmao
1.2 million results for "Upgrayyed"
Ayy lmaoo
Get out
Ayy
Such an awesome movie. It's cool, funny and brutal at the same time.
Imagine what would happen if Gray met Eddie Mora from, "Limitless."
Eddie is just all brains he wouldn't be able to fight like Gray does and also STEM can turn off pain receptors
This masterpiece deserves a series
1:19 Dude, that bartender turned out to be a nice fellow. XD I was cracking up at this scene.
1:57 it would've been better if they didn't show the face again, leave it to the imagination of the audience.
Probably would've saved a bit of the budget as well.
They guy sounded a lot worse than he looked. I thought he would have been mutilated beyond recognition.
I agree. I thought that’s what they were going to do before they showed it
@@8eeweeIt was pretty bad bro. We're talking death from 1000 cuts
“i am not state of the art” but then suggests using the knife and does it for him LOL
He actually says, “While I am state of the art Grey, I am not a ninja.”
When Grey told STEM to stop but he (?) continued for a few more seconds that should've sent off red flags for Grey.
And Grey could have done what exactly?
Moral of the story: Don't call a guy with a knife crazy.
I need me a stem
Me too 😥
if you watched the movie you'd know it's not as good as it seems
@@leifevenson8998 I was bout to say " Nah mate you really don't, its like making a deal with the devil. And he cashes his chips in early."
What they said above is the reason why I didn’t upvote.
well technically if he was demented enough he couldve made a pact with stem and enjoyed the ride 🤣

What I wish I could say to my school bully
Quick thing but I live the lighting because part side is red, probably representing his anger however the other side is blue and is probably representing his good and forgiving side
while i am state of the art Grey i am not a ninja lmao
When you accidentally jab the Google assistant chip in your head
"uh hey...buddy"
Its a shame this didnt go to theaters it woulda broke box office
FURY it did. I saw it in theaters.
Syntax_Error damn i missed out
Thought it was netflix exclusive
The guy surely knew about stem mission, thats why he didn't stop knifying the guy when grey asked him to, and next to that grey says "you barely killed him", it's a theory tho, you'll only understand if you watched the movie
Really good clip!!
It would've been more horrific it they didn't show what stem did to the guys face. Just leave in the dialogue, the sounds of him in pain and Greys reaction.
Upgrayyed will find a way to come get his money
I like money
😭😭
You know you should be worried when the robot says 'use the knife' all ambiguous like.
Needs a sequel called upgrade 2.0
Well...this movie is getting an original TV series sequel from the same director and others from Blumhouse.
@@dallasviolante2301 when?

im still waiting for the series!
0:08-0:16
*LOL*
You've gotta hand it to STEM. At least he let the guy have his veangence.
This flick was great.
This movie is far better than venom .the involuntary action scenes is awesome .
Very phenomenal movie
this should be on netflix
This is what terminator movies should be like today
This movie and Terminator movies are very different. Skynet will NEVER help a human like Stem does for grey. And T800s are just dumb piece of mechanics made for killing(And t800s are the only thing that can help a human by reprogramming it). Not smart like Stem or T3000/Rev9/TX
This is one hell of a good flick!!
I need to watch this movie dude
These new Alexa skills are getting out of hand
from that Dudes perspective:
1:00 i..uh- i cant do it
1:08 ok do it. you have my permission.
that dude must have thought grey was crazy
This was waaay better than Venom.
It wasn't Grey who got an upgrade the movie title talks about. It was STEM getting the upgrade it wanted. That's the title. It's STEM's upgrade.
homie got a facelift....
The first ten seconds describes my PC in a DnD game breaking out of Jail after a level up.
The result of the torture wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.
It’s the most efficiently caused pain possible. It doesn’t have to look ugly. That’s the point of it being done by something that isn’t even human.
That "Stem" dude reminds me of "Kit" on "Nightrider".
Why do I have a feeling that the AI is just in his head and losing his wife made this guy insane
Stem: While I am state-of-the-art, Grey, I am not a ninja.
So good
"hey buddy what's yo name"
Right after he cut the guy
I wouldn't have shown that guy's face. Leave it to our imagination and just hear his voice. Just thinking how horrible he must've looked that they can't show it.
Except they did show it
Did he slice up his face or just pour syrup on it? Makes no sense. He was acting grossed out, the black dude was GARGLING as if he had no face left or something.
the film maker know how to put attention to details.
we can see stem purposely delay a "stop" command from Gray.
Stem was gaining more control and it has its own decision to meet his objective as one slash on the face is not enough to get answer.
A TV-show based on this is being made by the same director Leigh Whannell.
Also, rumors of a sequel is roaming the internet.
Actor 1: "Who paid you?"
Actor 2: "Producer..."
"hey, buddy..."
love how stem's voice is so similar to Jarvis in Ironman
He also kinda sounds like VEGA from Doom.
Wilson Fisk? That guy just doesn't deal with problems on his own!
this is when he taught the chip to be a monster. he doomed himself in this scene.
@Mike Marlowe You mean the scene where he uploads a bootleg software patch that allows chip to have full control of his software? Do you think chip decided to kill people to get that, or do you think he learned it from the man with a homicidal vendetta who could have taken a slower, pacifist route to the same end? Chip saw the efficiency of violence, and that is grey's fault.
@@ThePickledsoulThat was after this
This is like those novel with a system
No kids that's how you contract HPV lol
0:25 his teeth are obviously actor white.
grey and stem can be good cop and bad cop rolled into one.
Man I'm getting HUE Vibes from final space when STEM talks
Man becomes machine while machine becomes man... sort of speak
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, " Logan Marshall Green is God damn amazing".
I thought this came from the early 2000s
I'd love to hear Stem asmr
Skinned. That is amazing what machines will do . logical
What kind of knife is that?
0:42 At this point it would have been nice to threaten him or warn him what would happen, but no...
Funny how he uses knives but his weakness is a knife
logan and tom are similar and this film is similar to Venom too. funny that.
STEM=GOAT
Help me understand. Did he just talk because of the wounds/torture. Or was there some movie lore like he hacked his brain?
stem ENOUGH!
Astonishingly enough, STEM is just a hacked version of Windows 95 with a few updated drivers.
His wounds really weren't that bad.
He made him look like Forrest Whitaker
