- Welcome to my first elevator video of 2020. This is a very special one. Recorded after midnight on December 23, 2019, When you search for elevator videos on youtube, you will likely find an elevator that has been filmed a lot. It is a hotel in New York City which was one of the first in the US to have Destination Dispatch elevators using Schindler's Miconic 10 technology. Yes, I am talking about the famous New York Marriott Marquis. After about seven years of waiting, I have finally had the opportunity to film these amazing elevators. I arrived at an interesting time, as the elevators are currently in the process of being modded from Schindler Miconic 10 to Schindler Port. The mod is nearly complete, with the port panels operational on some floors. There are also some Miconic 10 panels on some floors, but they are a newer model than the originals and likely temporary while the port install is finished. So, What's new aside from Port technology? The older classic voice is gone, it has been replaced with the standard Schindler voice. Those are probably the major changes. A few more notes:
1. I do use handicapped mode because of my visual impairment.
2. I had to make a few edits, and some of them are a bit choppy, sorry.
3. Handicapped mode was somewhat glitchy for me. It would not work on one of the Port panels, and the elevator did not always activate the accessibility functions in the car. It seemed to work best in car E.
4. I had a bit of trouble getting up to floor 45, so we mainly go up to 44. Also, there was security on the first floor at the time of filming, so I went down to the third floor.
I am so glad I finally had the chance to see these amazing elevators for myself. However, I am a little sad that I missed seeing them with their original Miconic 10 system. Even so, this was definitely worth the visit. I was able to film three of the cars, A, E, and N, N being an internal car. This is a beautiful hotel with amazing elevators.
I like both versions equally. However, I miss the old miconic 10 because that was I think the only elevator system with the black keypad. But I like how they are now Miconic 10 and Port. And I miss the old handicap mode and “grandma” voice.
I’m pretty sure it had the unique keypad because it was a very early installation of a Miconic10 system
For a blind person like myself, they should've kept the keypad. I was at the New Orleans Marriott last year and it was really cool. That was my first destination dispatch system I learned.

I recently filmed those elevators and I only got to go up to 38 because all of the floors were locked off as I wasn't staying there. I got to go to 38 because I caught a cab that was going to 38.
Handicap mode takes you to 45, just listen for 45 and it will instantly give you a car, cards are not needed.
@@SPCFranklinCounty373Thats incorrect actually. I stayed here very recently, after pressing for the desired floor, it will give you the prompt to please show card.

Can u film at Marriott marquis again please I know people film it too BUT THEY ARE TOO LAZY TO USE THE EPIC HANDICAP Mode so far u are the only one I appreciate it plz go there I subbed
I miss the old Handicapped mode chime. When an elevator enthusiast demonstrated Handicapped mode before these elevators were modded and when I went in June 2019 and used handicapped mode on the elevators the chime to me was very catchy. I feel like that chime is the face of the NYC Marriott Marquis in the elevator community.
This mod is okay at best. I’d prefer the old Miconic 10 though.

I also liked the Original Miconic 10. The Problem was though they were super glitchy.

@@SejLiftsagreed, they should have the separate panels in between elevators so they can do Miconic 10 or PORT for the same set

Before it starts moving, the floor indicator must start changing a few floors, not when it moves the floor indicator changes one floor.

Other than the PORT mod nothing has changed a bit.
There was some minor changes around 2021-2022, the temporarily added Miconic 10 (newer one) keypad, which was used alongside PORT was removed completely, plus the PORT system also have its OS updated (font in the UI was changed to Roboto).

@@TechNerdNolan they might also have them wired up already but it is disabled by default due to complaint by the hotel guests, who said that it's was annoying, etc..., but the voice announcement can have it's volume changed, through, dunno if the older M10 models with black keypads have that.

@@benjaminluo1720 It did actually got modded, it's used the Miconic 10 style panel with the higher-res LCD, but uses the same tech as the ID (late M10 models) and PORT model.
Did you try going to floor 49?
The Highrise Elevator Lover!!!! No, as I was filming there after midnight, so I was being somewhat cautious because it was so late.
Plus 46 - 49 require a separate keycard. All the guestfloors are locked now

guess you didn’t watch his other videos. He is visually impaired, so it’s hard to film the elevator. I am blind to, and you can see much when I’m filming.
