    I need Tim make an update episode on his diet and his ketosis update. And why he is doing his diet, what pro/cons he finds along the way, what the effects on his physical n mental health, is he experimenting on other diets too, what his daily meals look like? Me personally high fructose fruits n white rice (more than 5 spoons) messes up my mood. Been planning to try keto but with the weight i am on right now (I am already thin myself) and budget, it will be hard but i am still planning it to try it some day.

    I think the relation between thee lack of rem sleep and aphantasia. I am not diagnosed with the disorder but I have had a gradual loss in my imagination and have been forced to include a mindfulness meditation around the mental imagery to get it back, with much effort it is helping. for the majority of my adult life I have staved sleep in order to have time to study alone, hopefully I can allow my brain to get that territory back with a the proper schedule i have implemented. amazing talk!

    Tim, please interview Bernardo Kastrup, our foremost philosopher of consciousness.
    When Eagleman says that the visual cortex protecting its real estate during sleep by generating random images "explains why we dream," he engages in classic materialist reductionism. Even if all dreams were "random" (many people would disagree with this), pointing to a physical mechanism doesn't answer the question of "why" we dream. And it doesn't even begin to address what our dreams mean-it just reduces them to neurons firing and tosses them aside. Contemplating your own dreams, would you be satisfied to say, "oh, that's just my visual cortex maintaining its territory by producing random images," and ponder no further?
    It reminds me of a book I once read titled something like "Why We Have Sex"-the author's conclusion was that sexual reproduction mixes DNA in a way that's advantageous for survival. Who really thinks that answers the question?

    3:50 When I set out to remember pi to 100 digits, I used a memory technique called the major system combined with another one called the mind palace. Even though I didn't have synasthesia or any other mind quirks, I was still able to do it in less than 1 hour. It's really not that difficult to remember long lists and stuff if you know the right techniques.

    The world is turning out to be a scary place to live. Sensory augmentation definitely needs regulation. It seems possible that wrist bands will be the new drugs stimulating all kinds of things.. These days technology is becoming scary.. you dont know if to embrace it or stay away..
