even though retractable the pick looks like it applies quite some pressure on a small point so it still looks a bit painfull.

@@chlomo368_2 there should be a trade school. I shouldnt have to go learn more math and English just to learn to make props.
@@packlesswolf1 If we're just talking prop making then math and English can come in handy, math to get all the prop's dimensions correct, English to communicate how to safely use it for the actor/actress. Of course that isn't all there is to film making, so I'm sure there are some aspects where those subjects would be redundant.
Let's just appreciate how these shorts made our day
yeah, for the retractable blades the stage combat teachers warned against them, because like- it can encourage actors to just literally punch someone with a blade which ended up giving this dude a *massive* bruise on his back for a show

I started noticing the sound a needle makes in the movies when someone gets injected. It's pretty consistent. If it's an evil scene, the needle makes a sound. If it's a normal injection, the needle is silent as the person is injected.

Anyone else remember pretending to “needle themselves” with mechanical pencils?
Everyone has done that once in there life
yeah and then the lead breaking
Speaking of mechanical pencils did anyone else break it apart, put the spring down the tube, and shoot the lead tube out with it?
I like this one! Right to the point!
Your concern is well justified though. Collapsible blades have been a real issue more than once on stage and screen.
but it would get a very realistic reaction
@@crimsonclaw6337 you're right, they should just use non retractable blades instead for a better and more believable performance.
@@ARockyRock like when the punisher actually stabbed the russian in the punisher movie cos the actor grabbed the wrong prop 😭
Also fun fact, real retractable siringes exist too! They are designed so that once the plunger is fully depressed the needle shoots up inside the tube so it can't be reused
Unfortunately, I know all about those. But, not fun. 😎
epipens?
Used a lot in IVs
The needle reminded me of years ago my mother was watching her soap opera and one of the characters "injected" another one with a syringe and it was so extremely obvious that the guy put the syringe _behind_ the other actor's neck instead of against I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Like watching the episode of Wentworth (S7:E1, I believe) when a drug addict takes Vera, the Govunuh, hostage. I cringe when I see the nurse giving the drug addict a shot, because she doesn’t push the plunger. I don’t know what she’s trying to do. 🤣

The risk of those mechanisms binding freaks me out, too. Probably moreso with the ice pick than the knife. Lateral pressure from poor technique probably increases the risk.
I'm sure pads are used in many stunts to prevent that from happening.

Fun fact, in the punisher movie, one of the actors accidents got stabbed when the prop guy messed up and forgot to switch the knife with a retractable one, but the actor was so in character that he just continued with the scene and believe that it’s the shot they used in the movie.
I know they're retractable but my mind was feeling it

If you have the app on your mobile it even listens to what you say when not in use and shows videos related to what is said.
Facebook and their app do it too.
The knife one, I wonder if you know of that one scene in Dexter where the actor of Dexter almost accidentally murdered the other actor because of mistaking the real knife for a fake one?

That happened on Oz too.

You should do a video on Alec Baldwin’s “prop gun”
😭😭
actual guns instead of lookalike fakes are common practice and perfectly safe when done properly, ideally the actor should personally check to ensure the gun is cold, but the prop guy usually handles that, it’s just that it wasn’t done properly on the set of Rust

In the Punisher, they forgot to swap the real knife with a retractable one so the Russian ACTUALLY GOT STABBED and the dude stayed in character.
Reminds me of when I used to grab those pencils with the retractable lead, and I would take it all the way out and then press the button and slowly press on my arm or hand and it looked like a needle! I think that helped me a lot as a kid to get used to needles and vaccines.
Love this dude and his understated humor at the end of the shorts
God those ice picks are dangerous i flinch when seeing them. Too many memories growing up seeing people getting poked up and how they just went right in
I’ve always wondered how prop needles work. They don’t look like anything retracts considering they’re clear
CGI probably
I remember my cousin bought a prop knife and the dummy sharpened it to make it look cooler and he stabbed his sister and it cut through her shirt broke the skin and without anything to push it back it extended into her. I still remember the sound of that loud slap straight across his face after she felt it enter her, she left a welt that lasted about a week plus all the bruises after his mom found out what he did. She's fine tho, lost a kidney but she still has the other one and she has a cool scar.
