I must admit, Afflecks character was one of the best I've ever seen. It's hard enough to come to terms with the fact that your life won't be anything special, it's quite another to convince your childhood best friend to leave and potentially never return, for his own good as an individual. It's a difficult choice to make. Had he said otherwise, Will would probably never have left

The thing that did it was that he pointed it out that Will owed it to him and the other guys. None of Sean’s feel good bullshit, or Lambeau’s empty talk of ambition. He owed it to the boys, simple as that. It’s duty to his friends.

For about 10 seconds, from when I pull up to the curb to when I get to your door...cause I think maybe I'll get up there and I'll knock on the door and you won't be there. The part at 1:33 always gets me right in the heart, because Chuck realizes that his best friend is on his way to bigger and better things, but also that he may never see him again, most definitely won't share the same bond of nightly camaraderie they had. He loves Will and wants whats best for him, so he is glad to see Will taking his advice, but deep down it hurts, losing that constant companion. That battle of joy and pain is a bitterly beautiful thing to behold, and Ben Affleck portrays it spectacularly.

I always found it to be awesome that through all of the outreach Will received it was his best friend that made him wake up and aspire to be better. When I first watched the movie I did not see that coming. Two other cool things that I thought were great, and truly make this an amazing film are that talking to Will was therapy for Sean. It seems like about midway through the film Sean starts to realize that he is preaching to Will about taking chances and moving on in life, but he was not practicing what he preached. And lastly the title of the film is genius. Good Will Hunting serves to remind us that Will Hunting is a good guy despite everything he portrays on the screen, but they are also Hunting for his Good Will. At least that was my take. Amazing film, and is easily in my top 5 of all time.

I have always thought that the note to Sean was essentially telling the audience what is going to happen with Skylar and Will. I love it when films end it in this way because like Seamus said it feels like the movie is always going. For me the biggest thing for the "Sorry, I have to see about a girl" line is the fact that Sean said it in therapy in reference to his wife who we all know was his soul mate. So in a way it's Will saying that Skylar is his soul mate. I've always looked at it from a positive angle. He's gonna go to California and they are going to be happy for the rest of their lives.

It's Great to see the Boston Irish depicted in a more positive and commendable light, against a backdrop of higher learning and MIT classrooms, this movie filled with deep intellectual discourse and brilliant revelations, AS OPPOSED to all the other made in Boston movies.
For in most of those locally filmed movies the Irish are depicted in this less than flattering and savory light, and the criminal and scumbag elements drive much of the narrative. Not something for the Boston Irish to be proud of.
Though this gem of a movie, magical as it is, keeps the more vile, violent and vulgar elements at bay, and reveals the better, more humane and intelligent side to the Boston Irish. I love that!

So many emotions were hit upon in this scene. For a couple of seconds, Chuckie looked confused, then he came to the realization that he just lost his best friend, to happiness for his friend, to just a hint of sadness. This was such a beautiful scene and it was so cool that Will remembered the "best part of Chuckie's day" was right here. This was the best gift Will could've given his friend. Brilliant.

All-Time Classic scene where Ben's half grin tells all. Also looking at it again, when the other friend ran to the front and took Will's spot, I felt like all the friends were hoping he was going to leave for better things at some point and they were all happy he was gone. Sigh. I'm sure we all have had friends like these some point or the other. But like Will, we never know how our friends/loved ones react to our absence. This must be how it is.

One of the best endings to a movie ever. Chuckie just took a minute to let reality set in. Then just a big smile. He's happy to know that his friend is out there, living his life. You know, i was watching this the other day on an old dvd, and goddamnit the film glitched up right on the part that this video covers. Seeing it here, I'm wishing I saw it in the context of the film 'cause this looks like the best scene of the movie. What strikes me is Ben Affleck's acting. That look as he realizes that his best friend is gone on to better things is really touching. You can really see that he's genuinely happy for Will, but there's also a hint of sadness 'cause he knows Will ain't coming back, not for a few years at least, and he emotes all of this in a 30 second shot with zero dialogue. I'm totally seeing why Ben Affleck is as big a deal as he is based on this movie.

The final scene of Good Will Hunting, the definition of the Greek comedy. It's heart breaking to see Chuckie realize that his friend is gone, but he's gone off for better things. Sean realizes Will gave up the job to pursue the woman who makes him truly happy. You just have to sit back and really take it all in. Our protagonist has turned the coin and went off after what he really wants.

Chuckie looks through the window, and the second he pulls back and realizes that Will's not there, my dad points at the tv screen and just goes "Watch Ben Affleck _act"._
