- VOCES8 performs 'The Road Home' by Stephen Paulus at the Gresham Centre in London.
Tell me, where is the road
I can call my own,
That I left, that I lost
So long ago?
All these years I have wandered,
Oh when will I know
There's a way, there's a road
That will lead me home?
After wind, after rain,
When the dark is done,
As I wake from a dream
In the gold of day,
Through the air there's a calling
From far away,
There's a voice I can hear
That will lead me home.
Rise up, follow me,
Come away, is the call,
With the love in your heart
As the only song;
There is no such beauty
As where you belong;
Rise up, follow me,
I will lead you home.
(Michael Dennis Browne)
The descant in the final verse is spellbindingly good
Genuinely one of the most phenomenal singing groups to ever exist, I dont say that lightly.
Hugo Dalmar I couldn’t agree more.
Them and The Kings Singers are my top 2 :)
I agree 100 percent. One of a kind they are!
I agree. The soprano Andrea is singular with a wonderful and pure voice.
My HEART 😭😭
This was my high school choir's theme song, and I'm now in school to become a choir director. Thank you for this.
And the circle is rounded, full circle back home again. *Well wear !*
Where was your high school?
@@tawnteens I'm presuming you are asking @Melinda Efta !
Hi! I went to Lake Brantley in Central Florida!
No autotune, no beatbox. Just beautiful acapella music. Thank you!
i hate to break it to you but this is almost definitely pitch corrected/autotuned, as is pretty much every good acapella music video you will ever see. that’s how it works & there’s nothing wrong with that.
We need more music like this in the world.
Vuyo Sidinile there is more of this then anything else. It’s just not what’s popular or known about unfortunately
And the people who write, perform and/or direct it don't get paid enough for it.
Much, much more 👍🏻😊
@@jermaine8107 amen!
This. I regularly listen to classical radio hoping to spot one of these gems I never heard of
I am still trying to find the beauty of where I belong, but until then, I have the beauty of this music.
❤
I don't think there is a person alive who can not emotionally relate to this song. It's somber tones tell me that there is an understanding, a sense of consoling, and a faith that says, l know where I can find peace. This is how I feel about this piece. The beautiful thing about music is that everyone's own personal interpretation is just as valid. Isn't Voices8 a tremendously talented group!
This channel is an oasis of beauty in a world of hate and shallow entertainment.
So true
I agree. From Brazil
@@JCleggy so we ALL keep hearing. But it might as well be TRUE Reality. After All. It's nowhere to be found

God bless, my Dad is getting really old. He won’t be here with us much longer. 🙏🏼
each time I hear this it takes my breath away - beyond beautiful, touching a higher reality
No matter what they sing, it is always exquisite. Be it Renaissance, 20th century, jazz, pop, it sounds pure and genuine. They sing as one voice and yet each brings something to the group that if it were not there, would change the entire sound.
My god. Never have I heard voices so pure, gentle, and divine. You have once again proven your rightful place among the most elite of the vocal community, as only eight. Bravo! ❤️
Lately overwhelmed... with circumstances personally, emotionally, bigger picture, world... Listening to you here is balm ♥️ so beautiful 🌹🏡 Rest in Peace, Stephen 🕊️
Exquisite and pure.....like stars in a midnight sky. As comforting as a loved one's arms wrapped around you.
Brothers and sisters, I'll put this song in my playlist on my way back to the Lord!
Fantastic, and the Lord is always so patient with us!
Seems fitting.
I thank the day that I 'discovered' VOCES8. I have been treated to the very best of A Capella singing since that day. This style of singing has long been my favourite expression, VOCES8 perform it to perfection. Pure joy.
@Jilly Pepper My wife enjoys A Capella too but I am wearing her patience a 'bit thin'. I am repeatedly playing, in particular "The Road Home" and "May it be". All of their tracks are worth listening to, but I have to admit to being a bit of a softy, I love these two particularly. No one voice is more necessary than another to obtain the beauty of their sound, I have to admit a soft spot for the two sopranos simply because I love to hear soaring high notes. Long may they continue......
It is hard to avoid getting teary-eyed and deeply moved when I hear VOCES8. And what a beautiful song!
👍👍👍👍Stephen Paulus! Harmony could not sound better with a 100 voice choir!. ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Wow, the timing of this release is absolutely perfect. Today is our high school graduation and every year at the ceremony our choir performs this song, so it clearly has a special place in the hearts of our choir members. What a beautiful performance of this song. Absolutely stunning. And like I said, the same day release just could not be more perfect. Thank you, Voces8 for your gorgeous voices and music!
Pls pray for the world, we surely need to find the road home😪
So lovely and comforting.

They also have the text in the description on every song
@Kate Petty Thanks for that info. Good to know.
All of them... I want to hug and kiss!!! Thankyou!
This song always reminds me of my son and daughter in law on 2020 they had a still born baby girl Lola and we were playing this 😢❤xx
Brilliant.
Thank you VOCES8.
Thank you!
I was going to sing this with my senior choir class, but we never got the chance because of quarantine
You will be singing like an angel before you know it. Chin up 😄
Me too! Everyone in my choir loved to sing this one and we would always beg our conductor to let us end class with it. Those were really great times.
I listen to this beautiful piece almost every morning. It serves as a constant reminder that I have perpetual access to the One who leads me back to the road I need to be traveling.
So I sung this song this past 2019 Spring semester with University Singers of Georgia Southern University, and it just brought me to tears like it did in our performance. Such a moving song and to hear it again, warms my heart.
VOCES 8, you’ve blessed us once again
Kenan Drisdom the gsu choirs are awesome!!!
Sarah McHan Trust me, I know! Have you seen them perform before?
It amazes me how songs can hold such powerful memories!
@@kenandrisdom9351 AMEN and Awomen
I don't think I would be able to get through a performance such as this (if I were even capable of it) without breaking down in tears. I don't know how you can do it. God bless you 😢
A Blessing to us from The Good Lord Jesus!
VOCES8, I am so glad to meet you. It feels like meeting God's children on this earth.
questo gruppo, mi fa amare la musica ancora di più
Beautiful song. Beautiful arrangement. Lovely voices. And lovely lyrics.
Who are the 48 ppl who thumbed down? What is wrong with them? This group is perfection.
This group is an inspiration to me as a younger guy who wants to keep singing throughout mt life. The bass in this group is particularly excellent in his ability to project so well in his lower notes and yet still blend well with a smooth tone. But then again, the entire group is just absolutely phenomenal so it makes sense that there would be such a high standard for a bass singer.
truely i loved to find that path that I lost
Andrea, that is such an incredible version of that solo. I get chills listening to the way you soar over the line. I close my eyes, and I cannot tell that isn't a boy chorister (meant as a high compliment). The style for which most of these pieces are written, is as close to perfect, sometimes perfect, as it gets. I wish I could sing in a group like this, it could be my life. You all are so lucky. Keep it up. I really enjoy hearing all your work.
Thank you soo much for this wonderful piece! I have been singing this at the top of my lungs! I would love to sing with you guys!
The resonant brush strokes that soprano paints with are incredible.
A wondrous talent for the benefit of mankind.
I live in Minnesota and our local community chorus practiced this for an upcoming concert of Minnesota choral composers. COVID-19 interfered and we have to save it for another time. But I did have the pleasure of hearing Voces8 sing this in concert before everything fell apart. This will forever be one of my favorites.
How can one not be moved to tears by such voices? Even the very stones will weep and be moved.
Everything about this is the most beautiful music I've probably ever heard. Bravo VOCES8!!
Absolutely SUPERB singing. Thank you 💜💜💜
Listened to this 4 times in a row, gave me shivers and brought tears to my eyes every time. Beautiful rendition, well done.
Put it on a loop and listened to it for hours. thought it would send me to sleep, but it just made me cry for three hours with pure joy...
Thank you for this precious gift. It touches me so profoundly.
"There is no such beauty as where you belong." I think this simple message inspires more hope and love than nearly any other inspirational quote or message I have seen distributed through media.
OH how fabulous! What a wonderful group.
This song is beautiful! My church choir sang this right before lockdown last year. It is my favorite song we ever sung. This song helped me get through 2020. This is perfect!
Sublime
Gracias, muchas gracias. Sois maravillosos! Tampoco me canso de escucharla y de escucharos. Graciasssssssssss
everytime this comes up on my feed, I start to cry. So beautifully done 💓💓
This is one of the most beautiful and emotional works I have heard in my 80+ years. Like others, upon retirement we moved to a warmer climate. But I miss our children and grandchildren and this music really struck a nerve within me. It is beautiful and I thank VOCES8 for sharing it.
Surely Mr. Paulus is smiling in heaven hearing this sung with such purity by mere mortals.
I love this expression of appreciation.
this is an awesome song
This was the song my high school choir sang at our senior year graduation and every time I listen to it, it takes me back to those same moments of adolescence. Thank you for a wonderful rendition.
I can now say I have heard total musical bliss.
It's absolutely sublime!
Thank you.
This is a song I have never heard before until now. Truly heart-tugging and sweet.... I get chills when I listen to the voices of Voces8. Literally I am moved beyond explanation. Your beautiful and amazing voices of expression in music are beyond special to me. Thank you for the precious music, faith and peace in what each of you do together.
A lifetimw favourite. Sang this piece with Mascato Youth Choir and it always melts the audience's hearst. This is such A beautiful perfromance by this group
I was privileged enough to go to a VOCES8 concert this weekend, and let me tell you, this beautiful song is even better when heard live 😍
Heavenly. I am enveloped by the warmth. Thanks for enhancing my life AGAIN x
It reminds me of listening "The Kings Singers "
Cambridge
It isn’t very often that music brings me to tears, but yours does. Somehow I had forgotten that such beauty still exists. Thank-you!
GORGEOUS !
I love that song. ❤️
Amazing! Very, very beautiful!
Have a Merry Xmas for everyone🎄🎄🙏🙏
Gorgeous!!! In high school, my advanced choir had the opportunity to sing this with the Yale Glee Club while they were on tour which was very special. It's wonderful to hear it sung by a professional choir. Your balance, blending, and musicality are unmatched.
My gosh. I never tire of listening to these angels sing.
Oh, that final bass note!!!
This. All of this. Perfect marriage of text and music.
This is my favorite song 🥺♥️
Thank you VOCES8 😍
Fantasticiiiiiii.
Pure beauty xx
Beautiful.
Oh my goodness these singers are oh so good pitch perfect, wonderful !
I sang this every year in my chamber choir. It was truly a family to me, and it’s the last song we sing at every senior concert to say good bye to the seniors. It’s always very tear-jerking for us, I even teared up listening to this.
This is one of the few songs about leaving and coming home that touch me. I almost brings me to tears just listening to it.
The Alto is so smooth...I am so grateful to hear her, because she plucks that thread in me, gently.
Absolutely beautiful !
Just found this!!! Omg! Beautiful, light and gorgeous! Thank you!! Northern mn. Tenor🎼🎵🎹👍
Good GOD -- that soprano who's the soloist! I've NEVER heard such pure straight-toned singing... and so high! What a gift!
Overdone for my taste, not a natural sound.
@@nonenoneonenonenone Oh, go on, you don't really mean that do you! T'was ***BEAUTIFUL***
Dude, you are so not wrong.
I love it. There’s something about listening to a superb ensemble from London combined with the excellent studio engineering quality that makes this piece new all over again.
For a recording you might need studio engineering, i just heard them live, no mics no engineering, just perfection in choral music
Who are the 28 frozen soulless individuals who gave this thumbs down? SMH. This is simply wonderful music, lovingly and ravishingly performed.
Beautifully done, as always. Stunning interpretation and harmony, almost like angels
Yes, you takeme home with this song, and your others. Bless you as you bless me.
wow! Awesome performance. Something I really love about this groups is that nobody is trying to outsing another. All the parts are sung so gently and sensitively. Also their soprano soloist has one of the most beautiful, lyrics voices ever! Not strained on the high notes, just let's her voice slide up there beautifully! Love hearing minimal vibrato, too. Thanks for blessing us even in these crazy times :)
Voces8 are without doubt to my mind the most superb choral group around at the moment, followed by Tenabrae and an American male group I have forgotten the name of!
I have found a new favourite group. Love from Switzerland.
Strikes a wonderful yet melancholy chord with how I feel right now. You guys can lead me home any day
Incomparable singers 💟 💎
We are not worthy...
THAT LAST VERSE WITH THE SOLO JUST KILLS ME!!!! HEAVENLY literally
This morning there is thick fog. Voces8 gives me the light to look beyond it.
Their voices are absolutely perfect. Completely blown away.
Outstanding!
I had chills the WHOLE time. Sooo pretty!
I have to come back and listen at least weekly.... I can’t believe how beautiful it sounds each time I listen 😍
“There is no such beauty as where you belong”
😩😭😭
Beautiful lyrics
So poignant and true....
I have been in choir for many years and at every graduation, the seniors who are in choir get to sing. This year we sung The Road Home and this brought. back so many good memories!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you Covid thank you insidious and painful disease. For without you, I doubt seriously that I would have found Voce8 on the internet, and especially on CZcams. The voices of Andrea, Eleonore, Emily, Katie... someone pass me a church fan. Lest i forget, let's give it up for the fellas too. Jonathan, your non-assuming presence and arranging skills are legend in my heart. I have family back in the States I would like to see, but I can't because of Covid. So in the light of a 40 watt bulb, I hear you all sing: "There's a way, there's a road
That will lead me home?"
Me listening to it for the 10th time in a row...
Better listen to it one more time to make sure ;-)
Amazingly beautiful!
